"Melissa Foster is synonymous with sexy, swoony, heartfelt romance!" New York Times Bestseller Lauren Blakely
Welcome to Oak Falls, Virginia, home to horse farms, midnight rodeos, bookstores, coffee shops, and quaint restaurants where you're greeted like family and treated like treasured guests. Buckle up for a wild ride. Like any Southern girls worth their salt, the sweet-talking, sharp-tongued Montgomery sisters can take men to their knees with one seductive glance or a single sugarcoated sentence.
In EMBRACING HER HEART...
Leaving New York City and returning to her hometown to teach a screenplay writing class seems like just the break Grace Montgomery needs. Until her sisters wake her at four thirty in the morning to watch the hottest guys in town train wild horses and she realizes that escaping her sisters' drama-filled lives was a lot easier from hundreds of miles away. To make matters worse, she spots the one man she never wanted to see again--ruggedly handsome Reed Cross.
Reed was one of Michigan's leading historical preservation experts, but on the heels of catching his girlfriend in bed with his business partner, his uncle suffers a heart attack. Reed cuts all ties and returns home to Oak Falls to run his uncle's business. A chance encounter with Grace, his first love, brings back memories he's spent years trying to escape.
Grace is bound and determined not to fall under Reed's spell again--and Reed wants more than another taste of the woman he's never forgotten. When a midnight party brings them together, passion ignites and old wounds are opened. Grace sets down the ground rules for the next three weeks. No touching, no kissing, and if she has it her way, no breathing, because every breath he takes steals her ability to think. But Reed has other ideas...

EEEEK It's here!!! And Holy smokes what a read :-) I was so excited for this new series from Melissa Foster and she did not disappoint! I love 2nd chance romance books there's just something about them that tugs on those heartstrings, Add in it being a small town romance and you have one heck of a read. Reed and Grace were together in their teenage years and now 10yrs later things are hotting up!! Coming back home for a visit from New York Grace bumps into Reed who is also back home to take are of his Uncle's business, Grace thought for sure she was over him, but one look and all those feelings come flying back to her. Can she get over her anger to forgive and move on? That's the question!! The same goes for Reed when he accidentally comes across Grace, his old feelings came back like a tsunami slamming into him. The chemistry between these two characters is awesome and definitely can't be ignored it has plenty of heat, heartbreaking-love, family values and traditions and everything else we have come to expect from a Melissa Foster romance!! Snuggle up with this New Series from this amazing Author and get lost in the Braden Montgomery World set in Pleasant Hill - Oak Falls it will feel lie you have gone on this amazing journey with Grace and Reed!! This new series from Melissa Foster set in Oak Falls is sure to be a hit!!! Grace & Reed, amazing chemistry & just the right amount of heat!! A sweet, sexy romance that is hard to put down....You will not be disappointed with this one!! Can't wait for the next in the series!!!
Grace is an insanely busy with her career in New York, and she has spent her life running from her small hometown and the memories in it. She takes a break to spend time with family and teach a screenwriting class in her hometown. Reed has come home after years of nursing a broken heart, and is shocked to find Grace standing in front of him after all these years. They quickly fall back into old routines, but their relationship was so broken that it can never be repaired, can it? They only have a few weeks together, so they agree to make the best of it and not worry about the future. But with Reed's life and future in Oak Falls and Grace's in New York, can they make things last beyond a short time? I have volunteered to share my review and all the opinions are 100% my own.
Another classic Melissa Foster story that’s a hot, small town Romance that creates a world you love to get wrapped up in! This is a second chance romance that will make you laugh and swoon. Grace is a strong independent woman who left Oak Falls and Reed to chance her dreams and get OUT of Oak Falls. She was destined for things outside Oak Falls and she was making it happen. And Reed. Oh just like every other Melissa Foster hero, he’s perfect. He’s hot and sweet and he knows that his Gracie is back and he’s going to get her. I love the Montgomery sisters and their craziness! Another Melissa Foster series I’d be sucked into if I wasn’t already devouring everything she’s ever written!
A second chance romance with a first love! Embracing Her Heart is the first book in the The Bradens and Montgomerys (Pleasant Hill - Oak Falls) series. This book drew me in from the very beginning. It is a story full of romance, humor, and definitely some steamy heat. A well-written story with a plot that moves at a steady pace with a fresh, new story line that is easy to read. It is captivating and kept my attention to the very end. This is a story that will make you smile and laugh. Definitely a book that gives you all sorts of emotions. The characters are well developed and easy to like. This author knows how to create a story with enough romance and action to keep the reader entertained and interested. The characters in this series have become like my own friends and family. I can’t wait to read more in this series to see what happens with the rest of the characters. Melissa does a great job of intertwining the characters from each book into the rest of them. You get a new story with a little more of the future of the characters you have read about previously. I have said this before but Melissa never fails to keep her books interesting, entertaining and captivating. They always make me want to go find another book of hers to read. The stories just get better and better. Embracing Her Heart is another book from a very gifted author that I had the pleasure to read. Melissa Foster is a very talented author that tells remarkable stories that captivate you and will have you not wanting to put the book down. I have not been disappointed yet! Definitely, an author that you will want to keep on your go-to list. If you enjoy reading a romance that is entertaining and full of humor, then you will thoroughly enjoy this book and series. This series will leave you wanting to read more!
Grace once left her hometown and Reed Cross behind several years ago. When she returns for a couple weeks. She's made it big in New York and didn't think she'd return, let alone see her secret high school boyfriend/lover/first love, again. Reed has come back to Oak Falls to take over his uncle Roys Business. He was working on a porch for nonother than the Montgomery's. Who happens to be the family of his first love, Grace. They meet again and rekindle their past love, but will they both stay and live together or run away when things get rough? These two characters really complement each other. They are so sweet to each other. I loved how they went after their dreams and a few years later they get a chance to be a real public couple. I loved Graces personality and her determination. She goes for what she wants and won't let anyone get in her way. Reed is such a lovely character and I loved seeing him grow and take on his past. I would love to read a continuation and hopefully get to see a family down the line for these characters!
Grace is a well-developed character with a lot of depth, one that I could tell Melissa Foster took her time with, allowing her to realize all the ways that she has changed over the years and allowing her to figure out what to do with her revelations about herself. She is creative, driven, caring, but has also become a little burned out from her fast-paced world in New York theaters. Reed was just – yum! He is smart, sexy, adorable, romantic, and polite. However, combined with all of his many perfections, he is struggling with demons of his own regarding his natural father that left him with his aunt and uncle as a child. Embracing Her Heart has numerous secondary characters that are fabulous, especially Nana, whom we have met in other novels. Also, Grace has a ton of siblings (too many to list) and they are wonderfully unique in their own ways. Also, very close to my heart are the wonderful service dogs in the story that are trained by Grace’s mom. It was such a sweet surprise how much these dogs and what they represent were relevant in the story. Fans of Melissa Foster will fall in love with this new novel and new series, and for some reason, if you haven’t already become addicted to her novels, this is the time to jump in. Embracing Her Heart is an outstanding novel encompassing romance, love, family, and the bonds within small town communities. There are several hilarious moments regarding nighttime traditions among Grace and her siblings, there are sexy moments, and suspenseful moments.
Embracing Her Heart might be my favorite book in the Braden-Montgomery series. I have always liked the area in Virgina where the Montgomery books are set. It reminds me of areas I would drive through when I lived in upstate NY and would head south for a road race. Grace may be one of my favorite characters. She knew she didn't want to stick around in the small town she was raised in. I remember that feeling. I took off for a two year school as quickly as I could. And, when transferring to a four year school, picked the one furthest away. I was never going back, until I did. Grace is like that. Add to this Reed. His memories of the small area he grew up in all went around Grace. He didn't think he could live with that so went north to Michigan and probably would have never come back if he hadn't found his business partner in a compromising situation. What happens when the two of them come together is what makes this book fantastic! You need to pick up a copy of Embracing Her Heart and give it a read. I have volunteered to share my review and all the opinions are 100% my own.
Sexy, sweet and downright delicious! With the kick off to a new spin-off series, Melissa Foster uses her signature witty and humorous voice to introduce the Montgomery clan and all of their sass to us! In this first book in the series, we get to go along for the ride as Grace hooks back up with her first love ... and starts a whirlwind romance that takes their breath away! The characters are endearing and explosively HOT ... and the supporting cast is super fun to get to know. I loved it! Grace Montgomery never expected a short trip home to Oak Falls, Virginia to put her face to face with her one true love again after all these years. She's been making all of her dreams come true in New York City since she left town after high school, but when her little sister asks for her help with a project, she figures she could use the break from the rat race anyway and hightails it home. She can't let the fact that the only man she's ever loved is standing in front of her again derail her future ... she's heading back to NYC in a matter of weeks! Reed Cross thought he would never leave Oak Falls, but losing Grace made everything different and he wound up setting up a successful business in Michigan over the years. Things unexpectedly fell apart in the span of a heartbeat when he caught his girlfriend in bed with his business partner and then learned that his Uncle Roy had just suffered a heart attack, so he cut ties and headed home to help his family and start anew. He didn't expect seeing Grace after all of these years to pack such a wallop. She might deny it and try to keep him at arms length, but it's obvious the second their eyes meet that those old feelings haven't died ... for either of them!
Ah, how I adored this second chance love story from bestselling author Melissa Foster! Embracing Her Heart is the first novel in her all-new Pleasant Hill - Oak Falls series, a collection of stories about the Braden and Montgomery families and falls under the author's Love in Bloom umbrella series. Introduced in the fourth and final book Bad Boys After Dark quartet as the best friend of the newly married Sophie Bad, Grace Montgomery gets her own story told in this new series starter, and she shares it with Reed Cross, her first love and the boy she had a secret relationship with in high school. He also happened to be the boy that broke her heart after their graduation. She went off to New York and he headed to Michigan, their lives no longer entwined. Years later, Grace is back home in Oak Falls, Virginia temporarily. She's surrounded by her family and her roots, and as much as she's made an effort to become more of a city girl, her past is alive and well in Oak Falls, including Reed. While he may have let her go once, Reed doesn't intend to do it again. Will Grace stay or will she still go? At first glance, the author's Love in Bloom series may seem rather daunting because of how many series fall under it. While each series is interconnected in one form or another and there are characters that crossover and have cameo appearances, a new reader to this new Pleasant Hill - Oak Falls series will be more than able to navigate their way through the love story between Reed and Grace as well as the influx of supporting characters. There's some drama that goes on because, let's face it, second chance love stories have drama to a certain degree. Grace was already a notable supporting character in Brett, and she truly was a worthy main character here. She had a strong personality and I liked seeing her trying to come to terms to the fact that she could find some middle ground between being the woman who found success in the city and the girl whose roots were firmly in the country. Then there was Reed who was such a sweet and amazing guy--someone who loved Grace, his family, and his legacy. Embracing Her Heart was a five-star beginning and I can't wait for more! ♥
Embracing Her Heart is Melissa Foster’s newest sweet and sexy romance. It is the story of Grace and Reed. They were in love with each other when they were younger, but Grace left Oak Falls, Virginia to pursue her dreams in NYC. She left Reed heartbroken, and he ended up leaving as well. Now years later, both have returned to their hometown. Grace has come home for several weeks to teach a playwriting class to help boost her sister’s bookstore. Reed is home to help run his uncle’s business after losing his ex to his now ex business partner. Grace never forgot Reed even though she was the one to walk away. She tricks herself into believing she is over him. When she sees him again one night, all those old feelings come rushing back. She is determined that he will not have any affect on her whatsoever. Yeah, that is easier said than done when Reed is involved. She is so strong, independent, and determined, but not where Reed is concerned. Inside, she is sweet and loving, and Reed becomes determined to rediscover and get to know “his Gracie” again. These two have amazing chemistry! I could easily feel the connection they shared, and I wanted them to rekindle that love. However, there were a lot of things these two had to work through as a couple. In addition, Reed has his own issues about his past, and when someone from his mother’s past shows up out of the blue, he will finally have to face them head on. As with all of Foster’s books, she creates a memorable and complex group of secondary characters that tug at my heart and pull me even further into her books. I loved the relationship Grace has with her sisters, and I was so glad to find out that each of these amazing women will be getting their own book. One of my favorite things about Foster’s books is that characters from previous ones always show up in current ones. I always feel like I’m catching up with old friends. As usual, I’ll be awaiting the next one!!!! ***Read and Reviewed by Devilishly Delicious Book Reviews***
As settings go, Oak Falls is an out of the ballpark hit! It's not just the sassy women and hot guys. It's the whole feel. As a reader it's like you've found home...the people populating the town just happen to make it even better. I love the idea of a second chance at love - and there's no one I'd rather see go through it then Grace and Reed. Major life changes at the same time as your first love which bring you back to the same town? Sounds like fate to me, but not necessarily to Grace. Watching Reed try and get her heart to overtake her mind is absolutely spellbinding. Received as a gift
4.5 stars--EMBRACING HER HEART is the first instalment in Melissa Fosters’ contemporary, adult The Bradens and Montgomerys: Pleasant Hill-Oak Falls, erotic romance series-a spin off from the author’s Bradens at Pleasant Hill series. This is historical preservationist and builder Reed Cross, and screen-play writer Grace Montgomery’s story line. EMBRACING HER HEART can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the original series is revealed where necessary. Told from dual third person perspectives (Reed and Grace) EMBRACING HER HEART is a second chance romance focusing on the rekindling relationship between historical preservationist and builder Reed Cross, and screen-play writer Grace Montgomery. With the recent heart-attack of his beloved uncle Roy, Reed made the decision to return to Oak Falls in the hopes of forgetting out the disaster and betrayal by his business partner, he left behind in Michigan. What Reed never expected was to come face to face with the woman he has always loved, his high school sweet heart, Grace Montgomery, back in town to teach a course on playwriting. Grace, home for a three-week hiatus, cannot help but be drawn to the man that broke her heart. What ensues is the quick rekindling relationship between Grace and Reed, and the potential fall-out as Grace prepares to head back to New York, and the lifestyle in which she has become accustomed. Grace Montgomery is a successful screen-play writer whose return to Oak Falls comes with too many reminders about the past-a past that continues to break her heart. Reed Cross, raised by his aunt and uncle, knew he belonged back in Oak Falls but something or someone was missing, from his heart and his home. The relationship between Grace and Reed is one of second chances; a high school romance that was destroyed when Grace went off to college, and Reed ran to forget about the girl that broke his heart. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Grace’s rather large collection of successful siblings: Brindle (high school teacher), Amber (book store owner), Pepper (research and development scientist) and her twin sister Sable (musician), Morgyn (small business owner), and their only brother musician Axsel: their parents Marilynn and Cade Montgomery; Grace’s childhood best friend Sophie; and the Jericho brothers/ranchers-Trace, Justus, Shane and Jeb. We are introduced to Reed’s uncle Roy and aunt Ella, as well as a large assortment of townsfolk and visitors including Brett Bad and Sophie Roberts (Bad Boys After Dark #4). The world building looks at the second chance romance between Reed and Grace. We are privy to their memories of the past including Reed’s less than pleasant thoughts about the parents he never knew. A small town romance EMBRACING THE HEART follows the ups and downs, gossip and friendships of Oak Falls, Virginia EMBRACING HER HEART is a sweet story with a sexy and sensual rekindling romance. The premise is heart warming; the characters are energetic and spirited; the romance is provocative and intense. Melissa Foster writes an inspiring tale about second chances, first loves, family and heart.
I found myself falling in love with these characters, page by page. Embracing Her Heart is a swoon-worthy love story that embraces the past and the future of Grace and Reed. Torn apart by life and brought together by circumstance this romance book has it all. Be prepared to read about sisterly-antics, steamy romance, and so much love that it bursts from the pages. When you're young and in love, you think that you have secrets, but years later you learn there are very little secrets in a small town. Melissa Foster brings her A-game in her newest romance. This is the first in the Montgomery series and it crosses over to the Bradens at Pleasant Hill! It is so much fun to read about the characters in her stories because Melissa makes you feel like you are a part of the family while you're reading. It's an instant connection and her characters are extremely relatable. Reed is the perfect book boyfriend, period. I found nothing lacking from his character or his love for Grace. Grace takes a little nudge to open up and it's fun watching her fall (again) for Reed. Embracing Her Heart is the epitome of a Melissa Foster novel and should not be missed.
Great read that had me hooked right from the start. Plus who doesn't like a second chance romance. Grace and Reed parted ways Lon ago, but now both are back in town for the time being. Those flames of attraction flare up once again. They have the same dilemma Reed is staying in the small town and Grace wants to go back to the city. I liked watching them reconnect. One of my favorite things about the book is Grace and her family. They rib on one another, but you can fell how close knit they are. This is definitely a book you don't want to miss.
Oh man do I love this book. I love Reed and Gracie. A love that was always meant to be. Reed and Grace (Gracie) dated and fell in love in high school. Because they attended different schools and were rivals, everything they did was in secret. After high school Gracie and Reed broke up because Gracie was heading to the city to start a new life and Reed did not go because he wasn’t planning to ever move out of Oak Falls. 10 years later Gracie is back in Oak Falls to visit her family for 3 weeks. Little does she know that the man she loves is working on her parent’s porch. Gracie doesn’t want to see Reed because the reason they broke up was because he said he would never leave Oak Falls but right after she left for the city Reed moved out of Oak Falls. As much as she loves him she also is so very angry with him. Reed has a reason for his leaving Oak Falls and if Gracie would just listen to him she would find out the truth. Read to see what happens when Reed and Gracie get back together and try to figure out a life they can both be happy with when they both live in different places. This is a touching story of a love that never died and a story of dreams coming true and of dreams changing. Fantastic beautiful story.
Ahhh first love is always so sweet, the only thing sweeter is the second chance on the first love that you never fully got over. Reed Cross and Grace Montgomery had secret rendezvous in high school and 10 years later it’s not a secret that they are Hot for each other. They have great chemistry together and their story intermingles with other characters from the series. I love this new series set in Virgina… big families and Romance. Can’t get much better than that!
This was a great story of 2nd chances, and Grace and Reed deserve theirs. Grace thought she had left the country girl behind to pursue her career in the Big Apple, but soon finds out that love, family and friends are more important. Reed isn't willing to lose Grace again and proceeds to show her all the amazing things they can have and share together. I love these small town romances, the people in these little towns are amusing and everybody knows everybody.
There is nothing I love more than getting lost in a Melissa Foster book after a long day of work and lost I went. I love, love, love Oak Falls. If this is a real place, someone needs to point me in the right direction because I’m gone and I am never coming back. That place is Heaven on Earth and the romance – oo whee! I loved Oak Falls and the people of Oak Falls when I read about Brett and Sophie. Spending more time there just made me love everyone all over again. What I wouldn’t give for that small town atmosphere where everyone is family! It was nice to see Grace outside of her element and to really get a hold on her background with Reed and to meet her family. Reed is… wow. A shining knight on a white horse. (Although I am not recalling him on a horse at all… just saying.) The poor boy has more demons that one man should have in a closet, but that doesn’t stop him from being an incredible man. And not just in a sense of loving Grace. The love he has for Ray and Ella and those in the community – for his community. The romance was intense – as always with Melissa – but the other emotions from the book. The love of all people in the book – even Grace’s parents made my heart swoon. The community all coming together to be there for one another. The sadness I felt for Reed when it came to his family. It was certainly more than just a romance. I do this all the time, but I think Embrace her Heart has to be moved towards the top of my Melissa favorites. (Not sure my biker boys can beat out Oak Falls, but it’s pretty darned close!) This is a read not to pass up. It is a wonderful story, chalk full of emotions – happy and sad, full of love, and just enough heat.
EMBRACING HER HEART by Melissa Foster. This is Grace and Reed's tale and what a tale it is! Grace is a strong, independent woman but when she bumps into Reed, her first love, her vulnerability comes through. Reed, what a swoon worthy guy. He stole my heart. Together, they are one of my all time favorite couples - and that is saying a lot. I loved following along as they journeyed the path together to find happiness. The secondary characters bring much life to the tale as well, and I certainly hope Ms. Foster sees to writing their stories soon too. EMBRACING HER HEART is a contemporary romance that made my heart sing - I can't wait to read it again! (received ARC for honest review)
Reed and Grace were sweethearts back in school. However, they kept their relationship secret due to rival schools. Grace leaves her small town to become something. Reed return to help out an ailing family. Who says you can't have a 2nd chance with your first love. This time around Reed will have no sneaking around. What a fantastic story. Melissa is great making me escape from my daily life.
I loved this book!!! This is such a sweet second chance romance. As always Melissa Foster gives us a wonderfully written, sweet, fun and sexy story. This one is about Grace Montgomery & Reed Cross effectively starting us off with a whole new family to fall in love with and want to be a part of. How does she do it? This is one of those love stories years in the making for this couple or rather one that never really ended but instead had a very long intermission in the middle. I like how there was no pretending when these two finally see each other again and it doesn’t take long to fuel the flames from the fire that has just been on a slow smolder since high school when Grace left to pursue her dreams and broke Reed’s heart in the process. Reed is undeniably swoon worthy and Grace is just amazing! Neither has ever been able to really move on for all these years because sometimes not only do you never forget your first love, but you were always meant to be together. So good! So heartwarming. Such a special couple!!
Melissa Foster could write a software manual that I still would read it! One of the things that I admire most about her is the capacity to reinvent herself and always write her characters in a unique journey that are their own... This book is the beginning of a new series, a cross over between the Bradens and the Montgomerys. The Bradens are almost like my family I know their genealogical tree by heart, but the Montgomerys are a new addition to this world. They are a large family and we could get a glimpse of them in Bad Brothers After Dark: Brett, that was recently released. Grace Montgomery is Sophie Bad's (she just married y'all!) best friend and she is a respected play writer and producer. She went home to teach a workshop at her sister's bookshop and meet again the one who got away... Reed is the ultimate good guy and hot, hot, hot! I loved this couple and their story! Only Melissa could write this sexy tale about a couple who began as teenagers and now are starting over as adults with all mature problems and the perks of facing it all in a small town. You will love this book!!
This was a truly enjoyable book! Grace is a sassy character. She fled Oak Falls at 18 thinking she didn’t want country life but rather big city theater. She broke things off with her high school sweetheart, Reed, who went to a rival HS. 10 years later, stars align and these two are forced together. She of course sasses him from the minute she sees him. Reed was definitely an alpha male personality, but boy did he have some serious sweet romantic bones in his body! The things he did for his “Gracie”. They were swoon worthy!!! Grace’s sisters are hysterical in this story. They kept her on her toes. I loved that Reed gave her the ultimatum of friends or lovers. But they would not be enemies. He called her out and made her listen and face the past. He was willing to be either, as long as she was in his life somehow. Grace finally met her match and in her three weeks at home, learned that she really needed to be a country girl.
