About the Author

Heather Tustison, LCPC, NCC, is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with a degree from a CACREP accredited Marriage and Family Counseling program. She has been a counselor since 2006 and in Private Practice since 2008. She is the Clinical Director at her practice – Treasure Wellness Counseling and Training Center, supervising graduate student interns and professionals.

She specializes in marriage and family counseling and is passionate about improving satisfaction in all relationships. She has further honed proficiency in communication skills, conflict management and identification of primary relational needs.

She owns Treasure Wellness Counseling and Training Center. Here, she hosts counselors and marriage and family therapists that unite under the same vision to encourage, prioritize, and build excellence in the profession of counseling – promoting an atmosphere of wellness for individuals, couples, families, and groups.

Many of her interns and co-workers utilize her relational and interpersonal needs intervention she has developed and have found it beneficial working with relationships in counseling.

She has been involved in state, national, and international leadership since 2004, and has earned several awards for her professional service. While counseling is her main passion, leadership and service to her profession is another. She trains regularly on leadership development skills, ethics, private practice, spirituality, and mentors fellow counseling organizations on a national level.

We are told that we attract those that are most like us; happy, sad, joyful, energized, trustworthy, honest. Yet, very few of us know who we are. I didn't know myself. I had an idea of who I am - and I did not know the 'genuine me.' Then I did the work. I followed the steps. I defined who I am, who I want to be - and even who I want in my life. I discovered what I value in myself and others. I found offense in myself, where I was at, and how I got there. I found myself.
