Overview

Enemy of Mine by Red L. Jameson

Kidnapping mortals to different eras is such fun. Trickster muse sisters, Clio and Erato, call it a glimpse, but military historian Minerva Ferguson, Erva, is fairly certain she’s gone nuts when she wakes two hundred miles from her apartment. And two hundred years in the past to Brooklyn, 1776. In an unfamiliar manse, during the American Revolutionary War, she’s not too sure how to regain her sanity. Especially when she realizes whose mansion she’s just woken in, the one British general she studied more than anything else, Lord William Hill.

When Will hears Erva’s screams of panic, he breaks down a door to save her, even if he can’t quite remember why she’s visiting. She calms, though, the instant she sees him, as if they’ve known each other for eons. From the second he sees her dressed in a toga made from a bed sheet to later when she’s with his troops, wooing them with her musket skills, he realizes he’s smitten. But he’s a weary soldier, shrouded in grief, while she reminds him of a sun goddess. Is she too good for him? Lord, how he wants her to want him.

How could Erva not fall for a guy who accidentally quotes a Cheap Trick song? But now she has to get to the bottom of if Will is really a rake, how to stop one of the most important battles of the war, and lastly how to stop her insane crush on the general. After all, he’s going to die in less than a week.

The muses have to work fast for this glimpse. But that’s when they work best. And as explosions erupt through New York, sometimes it’s not from the artillery.

About the Author

As a military historian by day, sometimes Red does feel a bit clandestine when she writes romance at night. No one knows that while she researches heroes of the past and present, she uses everything for her characters in her books. Her secret's been safe . . . until now. Her time-travel romance novels have become Amazon bestsellers, inspiring her to sit in her cave and write even more. Which is wonderful for the books. But she hasn't seen a mirror or the light of day for some time now. She lives in Montana with her very patient family and far too many animals but never enough books. She loves her readers, so please feel free to contact her at http://www.redljameson.com

Found myself continuing to read to discover how the author would end the story. Dialog a little bit flowery in places, dramatic, but an interesting plot none the less .

Enemy of Mine was the first time I have read a book by Ms. Jameson. What drew me to the book was the time travel story line. I’m not one for historical books but I was pleasantly surprised by this story. It is a very detailed story so be prepared to hunker down and be involved with this book while you are reading. The characters of Will and Minerva (or Erva as she prefers to be known) are very deep. Will is from the past and his character has much to offer Erva, who is from the future. Erva is a very strong woman who has many talents besides being a Ph.D. candidate. She is an expert on the Revolutionary War and its generals of which Will is one. She was also a part of our modern day wars as a soldier so she understands the mechanics of war as well as the men of Will’s time. I have to admit I did not see the end coming – and it made me smile. I enjoyed the book and will read the next two in the series. It truly was a well-thought out, well-written story that was fun! I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A unique spin on the time travel romance genre, Enemy of Mine takes readers by surprise and will keep them glued to the page. Personally, I enjoyed the attention to detail in which the author uses proper dialect, vivid descriptions of the setting and characters, and how well-developed the characters were. I can't wait to read book two.

This is a wonderful time travel romance that dumps you into the American Revolutionary War. The muse sisters are quite entertaining and truly seem to want to help. Erva's been studying Will for some time, but from the distance of a couple hundred years. Being dropped  into his home comes as a shock to both of them. While she knows Will will soon die, she can't resist her growing feelings for the handsome  officer. Will is a sweet, troubled hero whose past makes him reluctant to risk loving anyone, let alone this woman who claims to come from the future. The heat in this story, the question as to how they can possibly remain together, along with the deep layers of characterization make this a page turning read! Looking forward to the next "Glimpse" book!

I was lucky enough to get an advanced copy of this book to review and from the first pages I was hooked. I loved the zany muses, I loved the strong but emotionally insecure hero. I found the heroine's inner conflicts very believable. I was caught up in the vivid portrayal of life during the American War of Independence. Everything about this book worked and I was hanging on to my seat waiting to find out how the HEA was going to be achieved. It was, I'm pleased to say, and I was left with a lovely feel good sensation at the end. I would recommend this historical/time travel romance to anyone who enjoys great romance with a good dash of sizzle. I can't wait to see what the muses get up to next!
