From NEW YORK TIMES bestselling romance author Kasey Michaels comes the second in her ENTERPRISING LADIES series.

"Surprising twists, great wit, charming characters and an impeccable portrait of the Regency are features that have made Kasey Michaels a beloved author. ESCAPADE is a delightful romp." -- RT Book Reviews

Caledonia Johnston lies in wait inside the dark town coach of one Noel Kinsey, rotter, eager to exact justice in the name of her absent brother. It may not be the best plan, but it seems workable, at least until she realizes she has hidden herself inside entirely the wrong coach.

Worse, the man now being held at pistol-point is maddening, unflappable, condescending, and quite unimpressed that his would-be assailant holds his life in her hands. In fact, he seems to find her amusing.

Callie escapes the encounter, but not the man, as it falls out that Simon Roxbury also has a bone to pick with Noel Kinsey, and it would seem Miss Johnston and her bloodthirsty plans could serve him very well.

An unholy alliance is struck, the two conspirators battle each other, a matchmaking mama, two interested and not above interfering friends, and a poor soul (who doesn't look his best in pink), in this delicious tale of revenge gone wrong and romance definitely gone right!

I could not finish the story. The overall concept could have resulted in an entertaining story. Unfortunately, the author seems to be in love with her thesaurus as the excessive use of adjectives detracted from the overall storyline. These consequetive, descriptive sentences did not enhance the story, nor did the author transition effectively from sentence to sentence. The end result was a broken flow of oddly placed descriptors that made it uncomfortable to read. Additionally, I did not find the masculine characters believable. Especially the male lead, his manner of speaking did not marry with the masculine descriptors the author used at the start of the story. It is almost like he was two different characters.

There was entirely too much meaningless dialogue and thoughts. There was humor, but the snarky remarks that are funny when sprinkled in became tedious and annoying due to the constant stream of them. I found myself skipping several pages at a time just to get to the next scene. About half way through I gave up. The author has promise, but has a lot to learn about keeping a reader engaged in the story.

Callie was inmature and a brat like many called her. Too much mindless rambling in the charactors thoughts.

I did not enjoy reading this overly much. I skipped alot of the book, just felt that it carried on and on and on. Within the first 14 pages I found myself not enjoying it, but figured I'd skim through and read some through to the end. (I may have ready 70/250ish pages) The author has great details, and I liked all the characters but I couldn't get into the story, and the link between the main 2 characters just didn't really connect for me, it seemed too forced.

I like the idea for the storyline but I definitely could not get into the book. So many adjectives took away from the story!

This is the story of a delightful young woman who travels to London with her best friend to exact revenge on the man who cheated her brother out of his inheritance by cheating at cards. Callie, dressed in men's clothing and carrying a pistol has entered the wrong coach to await the cheater. She instead is holding up a viscount, Simon, who can't believe he is being held at gunpoint by a young chit. They are outside of London and almost to her destination when she discovers her mistake. Shortly after, Simon gains the upper hand and takes Callie's pistol. He stops the carriage to turn around when Callie jumps out and vaults on a waiting horse held by her best friend. Thus starts an unbelievable tale of romance and suspense. Most enjoyable.

Loved the plot and would love to finish the book but the characters just talk to damn much....and for a big, i think thats saying something. Too much talking and too slow a pace for me to keep reading.

Had I read the reviews first I don't think I would have bothered finishing it. It was slow and annoying in the beginning. I kept hoping it would get better, but it didn't. The ending was totally wrong for the story.

The writing was decent, aside from some redundant expressions and irritating syntax. The plot was cliche, but could have still been enjoyable if the main characters weren't so aggravating. I just couldn't understand the attraction from either side. And where the heck did that ending come from?? I still felt like they barely knew each other, which made that rushed wrap-up seem more creepy than anything. In fact, I was going to give this 3 stars, but talked myself down to 2 as I wrote this...
