There is something about Catherine Bybee’s style of writing that resonates with me. She weaves a story that has me invested from the very start. Although a stand alone I would probably be inclined to read the previous books in the series before reading Faking Forever as their stories provide the back story for this book. Shannon Wentworth is a successful photographer and has no intention of settling down, happy to remain single. However Shannon wants a baby and she is determined that nothing will stop her in making her dreams come true. Victor Brooks is the jilted groom whose wedding Shannon was meant to be photographing. Now it looks like he will be on his honeymoon on his own. From the first moment Victor and Shannon meet, the sparks fly and the air around them sizzles. Ms.Bybee creates characters that are strong, yet vulnerable and you know that there will be plenty of romance and some rather steamy scenes. It was wonderful to see Shannon finally come into her own. When Shannons’s past comes back to haunt her and danger rears it’s ugly head, Victor will do what he has to to protect the woman he has come to care for. I fell hard and fast for Victor, he was so swoon worthy. It was great to see the other ladies of the first wives club and catch up on their lives as well. I love this group of strong and determined women and I am sad to see the series conclude.

ARC for honest review with no compensation 4.5 stars Faking Forever is book 4 in the First Wives series by Catherine Bybee and a great continuation to the his series! This is Shannon’s story...at 35 years old, divorced, wants a baby and no man in her life she decides that since she is in Mexico to photograph a location wedding she might find the perfect specimen of a man who is willing to be her “baby daddy”...what she doesn’t expect is a runaway bride and a smoldering attraction to the jilted groom. Through mutual agreement she and Victor decide to table the attraction and see if they still feel the sparks 3 months later... Will the attraction still be there???

I really love Shannon and Victor together and as with every of of the books in this series I couldn't put it down. Faking Forever is a a feel good romance and leaves you with that warm feeling that everything will work out in the end, but the bumps and bruises that occur in any relationship will be had along the way. There are two exes to deal with here and you get to wish bad feelings on them and cheer Shannon and Victor on when they finally get their HEA.

Omg I just love Catherine Bybee’s work. Faking Forever was an addictive read. I started reading this book and I couldn’t seem to put it down. Shannon might have fallen in love with her ex-husband and not have those feelings returned but one she sets her mind of becoming a mother nothing could stop her. Victor might have been stood up at his wedding but when he meets Shannon he realizes that not getting married was the best thing that could have happened to him. Shannon might doubt being with Victor so soon after his wedding but when it’s meant to be nothing will stop fate from intervening. I really loved this book. A must read!! ***Received this ARC by NetGalley as an exchange for an honest review.

Shannon is nearing 35 and divorced. She wants to be a mother but the clock is ticking so she plans to get pregnant from a one-night stand. Victor is a workaholic and marriage is just a tick off a list to him. He is about to get married in Mexico, a wedding his wife hired Shannon as the photographer for. They first meet on their flight to Mexico, not pleasant for either of them. He is dumped at the altar and decides to spend his honeymoon all by himself. Shannon also stays back to execute her mission of getting pregnant. I liked Victor and Shannon together. The banter and tension between them was great. Their flirting and fun times in Mexico were my favorite parts. The romance was completely believable. But I have a serious problem with this story. Let me rewind to what I said right at the beginning – Shannon plans to get married from a one night stand without consulting the guy. Am I the only one who finds it so wrong? Getting pregnant involuntarily from a one-night stand is another thing. But intentionally engineering an encounter to get pregnant even if you never plan to see that man again? That’s just horrible! And what horrified me even more was how normally everyone took it when Shannon shared her plans with them. We find out about Shannon’s plan right at the beginning and I had to muster a lot of patience to continue. I also had other small quibbles with the book, but none as significant. I just couldn’t get past this one thing. If you, unlike me, don’t mind such plot devices and are in mood for some breezy romance, you can give this book a try.

With strong characters and emotions that could be felt on the page, Catherine Bybee has once again delivered a story that grabbed me from the first page and never let go. Having only seen one side of Shannon in the previous books, I wasn’t too sure about how I would relate to her, but from her first interaction with Victor I knew she and I were going to hit it off just fabulously! There was so much sass and snark buried under her quiet exterior and I just loved it. I was a bit unsure how Victor and Shannon’s romance was going to play out given their circumstances, but Catherine Bybee is a master storyteller and I should have known she would create just the right path for these two to come together in such a way that there was no way I wouldn’t fall for these two. There was a little drama towards the end that added a bit of angst, but it ended up being the perfect set-up for a wonderful ending. One of my favorite parts about reading a series is having other characters from other books make an appearance, and I just loved how the ladies from the First Wives Club were there to support Shannon no matter what, even if they did meddle just a little bit, for all the right reasons. It was also fun to see the men get involved as well and help Victor out, even if that was not what they were instructed to do! There were also some other great supporting characters that I just loved, including Victor’s brother Justin and his parents, and even Corrie – at least until she turned into a bit of a psycho. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if you haven’t read a book by Catherine Bybee you are truly missing out and need to put her on your TBR ASAP!

This is yet another incredible story by one of my all time favorite authors, Catherine Bybee. I've been intrigued by Shannon since I read the very first book in the First Wives series and I've been patiently waiting for quite some time now to get my hands on it. So you can imagine how excited I was when I got my hands on it. To be honest, after reading the first three books in the series, I kind of expected a different story for Shannon. I kind of thought that Paul will finally realize he is in love with her and they could find their happily ever after. But after reading Faking Forever, I now know that Paul was never the right person for Shannon and she was destined to be with Victor all along. The connection between them is obvious from the start. Even if neither Shannon, nor Victor realises it. Their chemistry is explosive and though it takes them awhile to realize it, what they have together is worth fighting for. Of course, nothing in life is ever that easy, so when the past comes calling, they have to fight their way through it or risk losing their HEA. Though this story is not as suspenseful as some other Catherine Bybee books, it is still intriguing and entertaining and definitely a page turner. The characters are incredible and I am sure they will win your hearts along the way. And as a bonus you get to revisit with old favorites :) So don't waste any more time and get your hands on this book asap. It is a standalone, so you don't have to read the previous books in the series, but I think you might enjoy it better if you do :) I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

If I could give this story more stars I would! I've read all of the stories in the First Wives Series and each one has gotten better. It's not necessary to read the others, but I would really recommend it as the relationships between the characters are fantastic. Catherine Bybee excels at writing friendships that have strong bonds. We can all hope to have friends as good as her characters. I wasn't sure what to expect from the lead in this story. Shannon seems very reserved. She also has been hung up on her ex-husband for a long time. I'm happy to say, I loved her! Shannon finally is finding herself and becoming more comfortable with showing it to others. Her lack of restraint in her first meeting with Victor had me laughing out loud. I did laugh a lot with this book as I just loved Shannon and Victor. Victor was a surprise too. He changed from a self absorbed workaholic to a devoted hero. The path these two take together is such a fun journey. I hated for the story to end! I received an advance copy for an honest review.

You’re in love with your husband but you’ve both only signed up for a limited time engagement. You divorce as planned but are very sad. The money helps. Now you’re feeling like your biological time clock is running down quickly. You want a baby and can support one by yourself. Now all you need is the genetic material to get the whole thing started. You’re heading to Mexico to photograph a wedding…perfect opportunity…and so begins Faking Forever! Victor is heading to Mexico for his wedding. He feels he ‘needs’ to marry so went on the hunt, found a young woman, and will be marrying her. Romance be damned. He also presents as not so nice or polite or attentive AND is sitting next to Shannon on the flight to Mexico. They can’t wait to deplane and be done with their forced proximity! Shannon and Victor meet again at the resort where the wedding will take place. Guess who the photographer is! Sparks fly. Groomsmen take bets on the wedding and the bride goes missing! What will happen next? I LOVE Shannon. I’ve felt she has been the most emotional of the ‘First Wives’ because she genuinely fell in love with her ‘for now’ husband. Victor is a perfect foil for Shannon, making her stronger and more in control of her life, while sometimes royally making her mad! She wants to change…he just needed to push her to it! The First Wives series by Catherine Bybee is a must read for people who enjoy multifaceted stories. All the books in this series are ‘stand-alone’, although you learn so much about the other women and their bond by reading them all, why wouldn’t you? Ms. Bybee’s writing is top notch and her stories speak to your heart.

Shannon’s biological clock is ticking, divorced for a couple of years with no man on the horizon she decides she will be a single parent. However her plans are thrown awry when she mets and at first dislikes, workaholic Victor. I liked that the couple were in their thirties, that the relationship was allowed to develop a bit before they fell into bed with each other and that there was not strong language. I haven’t read any of the other stories in this series but on the basis of this one, I may look to read one of the earlier stories. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

As we've taken this journey through the lives of the First Wives Club members, we've watched as one by one, the women found their true loves. And through it all, Shannon has held a torch for her ex, Paul. So, when she informs the group that she's decided to become a single mother, they're all more than a little surprised. As Shannon heads off to Tulum as the photographer for a destination wedding, the plans is to spend the days after the ceremony finding herself a baby daddy. But when the wedding ends before it even began, Shannon finds herself spending time with the jilted groom. Shannon's very first impression of Victor is that he's a royal jerk. And Victors first impression of Shannon? Sassy, constantly calling him on his crap. Which Avery points out is far more than annoyance. During the week in Tulum, the one thing that cannot be denied is their attraction. But the last thing Shannon wants is to be a rebound fling - so they agree to catch up after some time and distance has passed. These two, their chemistry is constantly sparking. They seem to bring out the parts of each other that have been sorely missing - Shannon humanizes the inconsiderate, workaholic Victor. And he brings back the fire that's been missing from Shannon's life since her marriage to the governor ended. I really loved this story. Shannon has always been the steady nurturer of the group, but she was always sad, and trying to hide it from the other First Wives, so it was beautiful to see her come out of herself and find the person that she was before losing herself at some point during her two year marriage to Paul. Victor and Shannon truly bring out the best in each other. Faking Forever is definite must read.

“Faking Forever,” the final book in the First Wives series. I’ve been waiting for Shannon’s story. Why? Because, unlike her Alliance divorcée friends (Avery and Trina), also members of the First Wives group, Shannon was the only one who lost her heart to her ex-husband, Paul. That wasn’t supposed to happen, but midway through their contract she and Paul changed the rules. They agreed as consenting adults that satisfying their physical needs would be harmless. Unfortunately, Shannon fell in love, Paul didn’t. Her heart shattered when he handed her divorce papers as stipulated in their contract. Fast forward, three years later, Shannon decides she’s tired of faking. Faking smiles for friends, faking happiness for her parents, but most of all, waiting for Paul to wake up and realize she was the best thing that ever happened to him. No more faking it! But one thing she realized wasn’t fake in her life, her relationship with her three friends of the First Wives group. Over the years the women became very close and protective of one another. They’re like sisters. And since Shannon is the youngest in the group, the others make it their mission to protect her most of all. Within the group, three of the four women remarried, finding that special someone who showed them the second time around was so much better. Shannon is happy for them, but at the age of thirty, she feels her biological clock ticking. Feeling time slip away from her, Shannon does something out of character at the next monthly meeting. She surprises her friends with an announcement, “I’m going to have a baby.” Three sets of eyes stare at her. Mouths fall open. Wait, this is Shannon. She has been in mourning for three-years, after her divorce. She doesn’t date. She’s quiet, shy, not flirty. What did we miss? How could she be having a baby? Yes, the reader sees a new Shannon. It’s time she goes after what she wants. She’s tired of waiting. Shannon wants to have a baby and she’s not going to let tradition stand in her way. She’s going to find a father for the baby, have a one-night stand, and get on with her life. She doesn’t want a relationship, nor a husband. She doesn’t want to put her heart out there, to have it trampled on, once again. However, there’s just one problem. He’s tall, handsome, and he brings out the worst in her. And, he’s on the rebound. Meet Victor Brooks. Both main characters come with baggage, but they can’t ignore the buzz that goes off when they are around each other. This book is my favorite in the series, by far. Both Shannon and Victor are trying to break out of a cocoon of sorts. Both from different worlds, but both seeking the next step that will put them on the right path toward their future. But both have people in their past determined to sabotage their efforts at all cost. I was quite impressed with this book. Catherine wrote the perfect closing to this series. A good read! Received an ARC from the author and asked to render a fair review.

Faking Forever by Catherine Bybee will keep you engaged from the moment you are introduced to the lively bunch of characters. Each personality is wonderfully executed, and getting to know them is an enlightened experience. This novel primarily takes place in Tulum Mexico, a beautiful location for a destination wedding or a tropical night of passion. The author brilliantly combines a complicated yet sexy romance, emotional moments, and unique individuals into this slightly suspenseful romance. This is the fourth book from the First Wives series and it can be enjoyed as a standalone. Complimentary copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley.

Catherine Bybee is just a great author. This book took a woman, Shannon, who had fallen in love before and had it go nowhere and put her in a situation where she ended up having to trust what her heart was telling her in order to actually give love a chance again. She and the hero, Victor, start out really, really annoyed by each other. Shannon finds nothing about him to appreciate. He's a workaholic who can't even give his time to his supposed-to-be wife long enough to go on the honeymoon. He's inconsiderate and obnoxious...and Shannon tells him so. An exotic location lends a certain different feel to the book. Shannon's friends and Victor's brother are awesome secondary characters and the slowly developing attraction and love between Shannon and Victor is just perfect. This is just a great book! I received a copy of this book via NetGalley. All thoughts are my own.

This book really surprised me in the best way possible. With a jilted groom and a heroine who is looking for a one night stand to be a baby daddy, I wasn’t sure if this author could make me love these characters. I should’ve never doubted her because I did. Every step of the way. When Shannon plans to lengthen her working trip to include a hunt for a baby daddy, she had one iron clad rule in place. He must never be able hunt her down after the fact. In order to accomplish that goal, it would mean finding a man that who would never want to find her. With her plans firmly in place she heads out. Unfortunately, the a-hole seated next to her riles her to before unknown heights and acting completely out of character for her, she lays into him. Victor is a busy man but the woman seated next to him is quick to point out how terribly rude he is as well as informing him what she would do if he were her boyfriend…and it’s not friendly. Surprises abound when this couple meet again and realize that he is the groom and she is his wedding photographer. When his bride to be takes off, Victor remembers her caustic words. I loved watching this couple work through their individual issues even as they try to avoid the chemistry brewing between them. Watching both of these characters grow in the best ways possible was soo good! When they were together I could feel the sizzle even as I was smiling from ear to ear. They were both so charming and endearing and together they were magic. I loved that the time constraints they had placed on their relationship was tenuous at best. This is a lengthier book but is actually a fast read as things are constantly moving. The drama is relatively low angst despite the breakup of Victor’s wedding and some other outside forces that want to tear them apart. Their conflict is handled rather quickly and we are given a great epilogue that not only shows us this couple down the road but a bit of the other couples as well. Dual POV

I have been waiting for Shannon's story since the beginning and did not disappoint me. You always need to worry about the reserved person in the group and Shannon found her voice and strength in this story. After her divorce she has finally moved forward and her next desire is to have a baby, so now she just needs to find a baby daddy. With her wedding photography business she arrives in Mexico and meets Victor, a jilted groom. From enemies to lovers you will love this story!! Once again this book is filled with so much emotion, steamy romance and a wonderful group of women friendships. Loved this series, but can be read as a stand alone but recommend reading from the beginning.

I LOVE THIS SERIES! We are now going to finally get Shannon's story. Shannon wants a baby but she absolutely does not want a baby daddy to go with it. In fact, she wants the one night stand with the knowledge the daddy will not be able to find her or want to find her. However, she didn't plan on Victor. He is a workaholic and just happens to be the groom of the wedding she is the photographer for. Add in a runaway bride, a destination wedding in Cancun, and enough sparks between Shannon and Victor to burn down the surrounding jungle and we have a recipe for another perfect story by this author! I didn't think it was possible but Bybee has done it again. I definitely recommend this one. This may be a lengthy read but it is a quick read. **Received this ARC from the publisher via NetGalley**

Catherine Bybee once again brings us an incredible story with characters that will melt your heart from the beginning and a story that will keep you entranced from the first page to the last. This book is a perfect example of why Ms. Bybee is one of my go to authors! In this one we have Shannon. A woman who has lost at love but doesn't want to give up her dream of having a child. With a plan firmly in place she sets out to find a baby daddy with no strings or obligations attached. Then there is Victor. A workaholic who can't even take the time off for a proper honeymoon and he wonders why he's jilted at the altar. When these two first meet it's not pretty and Shannon hurls some pretty caustic words Victor's way. When everything she says proves true Victor is determined to prove to Shannon that he's not the man she thinks he is. Could he be just the man she needs? Put this on the must read list, I highly recommend it.

Shannon is the only single woman from The First Wives group today and has decided she wants to have a child no matter what. Always reserved and quiet, she surprises her newly-married friends with this news, having already planned everything: she'll go to Mexico to photograph a wedding, stays there for a few more days, chooses a baby daddy and returns from there pregnant. Pefect! All her problems solved .... or so she thought. Victor is a workaholic, serious and without many friends who never imagined being left on the altar by his fiancee. When approaching Shannon, the woman who didn't like him since she met him and who does not melt for his money or his charm, he realizes how his behavior itself may have pushed his bride away and then decides to stay on the beach for a few more days without thinking at work. Attraction between these two are inevitable and upon returning from traveling both will have to deal with a jealous ex fiancee and with tabloids who insist on creating unreal stories about them. Between hot kisses and humorous conversations, they will realize how much they can change their way of seeing the world and life and how together they can form a pair with perfect fit. With a light and humorous writing, Catherine Bybee brings a romance with light social criticism and loaded with passion and hot scenes with the chance to review the wonderful characters of the previous books and a cute epilogue.

Wow! Not what I was expecting and I loved it! Shannon has been the most reserved character in this whole series. She was still in love with her first husband and was always the voice of reason in this group of women. She never really stood out because the rest of the First Wives had such huge personality. We got to see a side to Shannon we have never experienced before. I love the way her and Victor met, reacted to each other and then ultimately fell in love. It's an enemies to lovers trope that I admit I usually struggle with, but not in Shannon and Victor's book. I actually, really loved how they got started and how he brought out her sass. The sparks flew from the start! This whole series has been fantastic. I'm really sad to see it end. I'm hoping Sasha gets a story but I don't think she is a first wife so maybe a start to a new series? One can hope.

**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher** Catherine Bybee is always a one-click author for me and Faking Forever is just another example of why that is the case! Shannon Wentworth has always been the quiet, introspective one of the First Wives Club. Although she's divorced from her first husband, she hasn't been in another relationship as it's taken a long time for her to get over it since she fell in love with him. Now she feels her biological clock ticking and she really wants to be a mother, so she decides to put a plan into action. Victor Brooks owns his own business and pours his heart and soul into it, but that means he oftentimes isn't paying attention to the personal relationships in his life. When he nearly marries the wrong woman, he begins to think about how disjointed his priorities might be. When Shannon and Victor meet for the first time, things don't go well at all. As the two spend more time around one another, things begin to change and they are both attracted to the other, but with Victor just coming out of a committed relationship and Shannon focused on becoming a mother, the timing is just not right. They decide to wait three months and if they still want to try, then they will. You know what they say about best laid plans... I really enjoyed these characters and getting to know more about Shannon in particular. She has always been the one that gives great advice, but has always been the calming, reasonable voice in the First Wives group. We get to see a bit more of her sassy side and I think we see her evolve and open up even more after she and Victor get involved. This was another fantastic addition to this series and I am really looking forward to what Catherine has in store for Sasha in her book!
