## LOVED it. Generally I don't read stories that include a dead spouse. However, the synopsis intrigued me enough to give it a shot. So glad I did. This was a fabulous story. Do I wish the dead husband didn't get quite so much page time? Do I wish the heroine would've taken her ring off sooner? Yes and yes. Hence the reason I don't like dead spouses. The comparisons and the guilt are usually endless. But somehow Pamela overcame all this and wrote a beautiful story. I loved that she let Ellie and Jesse have plenty of fun together. I especially love that she let Ellie be adventurous in the bedroom. Just because she's a mom, doesn't mean she has to be boring. These two had tremendous chemistry for sure. And thanks for not writing Jesse as a player. So refreshing. I will definitely read again.

Pamela Clare has created another world that we want to live in with this third book in the Scarlet Springs series. Her multi-faceted characters draw us into their lives and along the way we learn about ski patrols and avalanche control in the high Country of Colorado, winter festivals and extreme sports. Some much more than a "contemporary romance."

Welcome back to Scarlet Springs! This is a wonderful look at relationships, people and how each of us lean on each other, friends, family, lovers, and community in the best and worse of times. Pamela Clare writes with true emotion and care for her subject matter and her readers. This has to be my favorite in the series so far. Love the twins and so glad to see familiar faces again. Thank you Pamela! Now who is next!!!!

Another good read but a little slow. Wish Ms. Clare would cut back on the f bombs that add nothing to the story. I do laugh about Scarlet Springs with all of it's medical specialists, big library, full time fire department and fancy fire equipment and having a population not even 1,500. Really high high taxes?

I loved Jessie and Elli's story. Both were deeply effected by the scars of war, but still gave so much of themselves to others, it was only right that they finally found happiness and a bright future together. I love this series and look forward to more stories from this little town.

Pamela clare is usually full of adventure and personal development. But this book is a bit plodding. Still great characters and good, but nothing like Naked Edge.

"Falling Hard" is such a beautifully indepth story of hope, love, and moving on, while coming out of tragedies and memories, of two people finally able to come to grips with their pasts. The author wrote with such care of Jesse and Ellie finding love after each suffered their own trauma, but is a slower more developed pace for them. Who doesn't love to see a tough former Army Ranger with 3 year old twins? Ellie's twins was such a lifeline for her after her husband was killed in service, and seeing Jesse fall in love with the twins as well as Ellie is so heartwarming. Being a part of the Rocky Mountain Search & Rescue Team, Jesse doesn't hesitate when tragedy strikes, but dives right in. The story draws you in, written as if the reader is a part of it and not just turning pages in a book. Jesse, Ellie and the twins find their HEA, and put the past where it belongs. The honor that was shown for Ellie's late husband who was a Blackhawk pilot, was not forgotten, but put the past where it belonged. This one had me in tears a few times as if I was there and not just reading a book. I would like to thank NetGalley and the author for gifting me "Falling Hard". My opinion is my own. This is mine 5 Stars!

Good story. What I liked was it had great characters and side characters. I liked the small town atmosphere that gave this story more feelings. The writing was mature, the story was fast faced and I love the book cover. The book description pulled me in. I like the idea of a former Army Ranger coming to the rescue of a single mom who has lost her husband to the military. For the most part, that met my expectations. What I didn’t like was I felt there was a little too much emphasis on the dead spouse. This is one of those things that a little bit can go a long way and too much can distract from the new love interest. My other issue was Jesse’s thoughts vs action waged a bit of war in my head. In action, he was great. He stepped up constantly, always rushing in to help anyone and everyone. His time with Ellie’s kids was very cute and what I would want to see in a Hero pursuing a relationship with a single mom. However, he thought a little too much about not being good at relationships and not wanting one. At one point he was telling himself he didn’t want to be a dad. I understand hesitation starting something with a single mom but again, a little bit can go a long way. I definitely liked the book more than I had issues with it and would read more from this author. ARC provided by Netgalley.

Falling Hard is great heartbreaking ex-military love story. After being two years of neighbor Ellie and Jesse path are crossed and from there on is like domino effect and before you know it they are in some kind of love relationship. But everything is not so easy. Jesse is still fighting with his PSDT and is not easy when he works in a risk job on the mountain. Ellie has lost her first husband and is hard for her with Jesse having such dangerous job. They are both very good characters, develop interesting with great personality and you cannot be to be happy for them that they find each other. Story with full emotionally scenes, heartbreaking but also powerful funny and just great. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly

Ellie promised her husband she would carry on with the family if anything happened to him. Jessie come to search and rescue to overcome the past haunting him from his service. These two discover a connection to passion and to love if they can heal their pasts. This book is a page turner the reader won't want to put down. Good addition to the series. Ebook from Netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.

Received an ARC for voluntary review for netgalley. This book had it all, sadness, love, and happiness. I was happy to read Jesse story, after last book when they mentioned him, I wanted his story. Jesse was a complex individual, to read how he grew up, breaks your heart. Even though he went thru so much, he was a hero and always willing to help others, so I was happy for him to have a love interest. Ellie was his neighbor, but she was also a mother and war widow, she also deserved happiness. They go thru there ups and downs, but in the end, reach for happiness. It also enjoyable to read of the rest of the cast in Scarlett Falls

A deeply felt and amazing addition to Pamela Clare’s collection. Sometimes keeping promises is nearly impossible. It’s been three years since her husband died in combat but Ellie Meeks isn’t interested in moving on. She spends her time working and taking care of the twins her husband never got to meet. But when the good Samaritan that helps her out in the middle of a storm turns out to be her very sexy neighbor, he reignites her desire to live to the fullest. Ex-army Ranger Jesse Moretti wanted to escape the horrors of war by putting all his efforts into helping people through the Rocky Mountain Search and Rescue Team, the Ski Patrol and extreme sports. But it’s hard to do when the woman he finds himself attracted to is connected to the past he’s trying to put behind. Can he overcome his guilt and fears in order to embrace the love and happiness Ellie has to offer? I got completely swept away with this book. The longing, the heartache, the OMG thrilling moments Pamela Clare is well versed in giving us, and the inevitable surrender between these two characters that deserve to be happy together. Falling Hard has it all, as we visit the small town of Scarlet Spring where everybody knows everyone and the sense of community is heartwarming. Even though they have been neighbors for a couple of years, Jesse and Ellie’s lives cross by chance on a stormy night when Ellie needs a hero. Theirs is a slow burn story in which they need to overcome guilt in order to embrace a happy future because Ellie loved and lost and couldn’t fathom looking for, much less engaging in, any kind of romantic relationship until the sexy adrenaline junkie who devotes his life to helping others keeps helping out. Before long Ellie and Jessie are incapable of ignoring their growing attraction and emotions, but getting over the past is not as easy as it sounds. I loved Ellie’s twins almost as much as Jesse did. My ovaries exploded witnessing this tough as nails man fall for them as much as for their mother. He was a perfect hero, with some dings and dents that made me feel for him, but also with a huge, giving heart. I also loved all the supporting characters –from past heroes and heroines to the guys and gals from the Team and even Bear– that gave the story an added and welcome layer of goodness. It’s impossible not to love a book that brings out all the feels. There are so many things to talk about this story, from small details to all the big emotions that gave it so much depth. Needless to say, I smiled and swooned, cried and tried to slow my heart from the sexy hotness and excitement. Pamela Clare has a wonderful way of delivering a story that grabs me from the start and has me entranced throughout. Falling Hard is book #3 in the Colorado High series by Pamela Clare. It is a standalone contemporary romance. Told from both points of view with a happy ending.

Loved this book. Made me want to pack my bags for Colorado. Seriously this book pretty much covered it all. We have Ellie, a military widow, living on her own complete with twins whose father died in Iraq while she was pregnant. She's an RN at the local small town hospital, she returns to her hometown after her husband dies. It's been 3 years. Jesse is a retired Army Ranger, on the ski patrol and search and rescue team. He recently lost a young girl in a drowning rescue that haunts him and had him temporarily sidelined from work for a short period. He's got a great therapist who also counsels the whole team. He lives behind Ellie in a small cabin. Interesting she really didn't even realize it. They meet one day in the grocery when both twins are sick, Daisy and Daniel.... the highlight of the story I might add. Jesse helps her home and gets the children settled for her after her car doesn't start. Ellie's sister Claire urges her to move on especially when she gets wind of the handsome neighbor/helper and Ellie just downplays it. Ellie's a bit reluctant to get involved first of all and second with someone who's job entails taking major risks. She's been there. It's great to watch their friendship unfold. The first kiss, which Jesse then runs like his pants are on fire from. Jesse bothered me with his hot and cold behavior. At the least he did seek therapy after his nightmares returned and he was trying not to ruin his relationship with Ellie. There's a lot going on in this story. It's two people who's life work puts them both front and center with death. Ellie in the ER and Jesse with his jobs. Jesse hasn't had the best childhood which is what brought him to Colorado after his discharge from the military. Oddly enough the small town boy moves to a small town as a man. No secrets in this town, that's for sure. Now, brass tacks. I loved the way Pamela plotted this story, from both MC's sides. To include the rescue teams and his work at the ski resort. Both backstories were complete. We see Ellie raising these two little sweet babies who are now 3 on her own, while working and keeping things together. I loved her. Just absolutely loved her. I wanted to box Jesse's ears a few times for the lame crap he pulled, but still he was well done. The inner dialogue was great and I loved how he loved and cared for those twins. Every single member of the team stood out as individuals and Pamela drew you right into the story as if you knew them. I can drone on how great it is... read it!! This a stellar read and series. One you won't want to miss. Great story Pamela! **arc from NetGalley and publisher in exchange for a fair review**

I have enjoyed everything about the Colorado High Country series by Pamela Clare; from the setting to the characters. Falling Hard (A Colorado High Country Novel) is another prime example of why I get such pleasure from reading the series. I admired the main character, Ellie as she goes it alone to raised twins after her military husband’s death. At the same time. I was delighted to see the romance bloom between her and Jesse Moretti, former military now part of the rescue team. There is plenty of rescue action to go along with this romance, with the added plus of the adorable little Daisy and Daniel. Jesse is admirable too as he struggles to overcome his PTSD issues. These are mature individuals who are striving to make a positive difference in life. Just the kind of characters I like to like about with my reading time. Then the story quickly flows with realistic events and interactions between the characters. I particularly enjoyed seeing how Jesse was learning to relate to the twins. However, not all is cute in this story. The emotional turmoil that the characters work through make this an intense read that comes to a “thumbs Up” form me conclusion. Falling Hard gets my recommendation whole heartily. An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley.

This is a gift to the reader – a heartfelt, tender, temptation of a book that scored high with me. It made me feel, think, hope and care. It had wonderful main and supporting characters. Issues both hero and heroine had to face were real and dealt with in a positive manner. I came away feeling happy that Ellie and Jesse found one another and knew they would make it long term. If given a chance I do believe I would enjoy having them as neighbors and friends. As for the story…Ellie is the widow of an army pilot who has been busy raising twin toddlers. She is a capable RN, responsible and loving mother and still grieving for her husband. Her parents, sister and community have been there to assist should she need their help but one night when her car won’t start and it is snowing…along comes Jesse Moretti. I am not going to give you a blow by blow account of this book. I will say the story is well-crafted, the plot works, the characters are believable, have substance and grow. I loved the fact that Ellie was real whether at work, with family or in the bedroom. She was honest, caring and kind but also could get angry, express her needs and wasn’t afraid to act on them. I could not put this book down. I have never read anything by this author before but do look forward to reading more of her work in the future. Thank you to the author who provided me with an ARC through NetGalley. This is my honest review. 4.5 Stars

5 - "When you’re ready... I’ll be here." Stars! We return to the Colorado High Country Series, with the third book; Falling Hard. This is happy-go-lucky Jesse Moretti’s story, and I fell... Hard. Oh my wow! I am absolutely in love with this series; every book the author has released has been an absolute treat. But I have to say this one is my favorite so far, there was just so much to love about the story that Pamela gave Jesse. It was his duty to have her back, not get her onto her back... Ellie Meeks returned Scarlet Springs a widow with twins on the way, it’s taken her a couple of years to reach a happy equilibrium where she even feels she can entertain the idea of looking for adult company again, around caring for her kids. Jesse is more than a little interested and after helping her out when she has car trouble, their tentative friendship blooms. "I don’t want to be the thing you regret in the morning..." The one thing that stood out about this story for me is the fact that Jesse is so much more than the character we have been given in the previous two books, the author literally grabbed my heart from the first revelation about him and kept squeezing with each following one that landed, I’m not afraid to admit there were a few tears shed on more than a couple of occasions with the reading of his story. "When I’m with you, all the bull-**** falls away, and the answers to all the questions become simple." Ellie and her toddler twins Daisy and Daniel were an absolute joy to get to know as well, and bearing in mind as a woman she represented everything Jesse normally steered clear of in relation to his casual bed partners, I loved how the relationship developed between them in-spite of it, and casual got left behind for consumed, because they both were, with each other. "You certainly know how to bring the heat." I am loving this series, I cannot get enough of this authors writing, and I cannot wait to see who will have their story told next, there are so many characters that I want to get to know better, and I hope the author has stories in mind for all of them. **This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy of the book.

FALLING HARD: The third book in the Colorado High Country Series is worthy of 5 stars. Pamela Clare has welcomed us back to Scarlet Springs and it was like coming home. I felt like I was on the relationship journey with Jesse and Ellie and it was wonderful to spend time with the people of Scarlet Springs. A Must Read Series.

You know you are reading the work of an exceptionally talented author, when the story takes hold of you from the start. This was an absolutely wonderful book. It is the second of Ms Clare’s series, Colorado High Country. The plot centers around Elle Meeks, a nurse, whose pilot husband died during a mission in Iraq without ever meeting his 2 yr old twins, and Jesse, a former Army Ranger who also fought in Iraq. He needed to get away from the reminders of war and is now living in Colorado and in the elite Rocky Mt S & R Team as well working at the local resort. Both have suffered great loss. One as a war widow with two young children, and one as a war hero who considers himself anything but one. Jesse’s childhood was not one any child should have , and the loss of people in his life as well as the war, has left him with a great deal of guilt and PTSD. What is remarkable in this book is the way Ms Clare presents us with these issues. A reminder that our returning troops and those left at home need our support both from each one of us, as well as from our nation. You will laugh, cry, and experience heartbreak , during this story , but you will also cheer them along as they both find happiness and love. Definitely not a book to be missed. Can’t wait what else is in store for Colorado High Country.I was gifted this book by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Falling Hard by Pamela Clare is the third story in her Colorado High Country series. Set with the beautiful Rocky Mountains as a backdrop to emotional and sexy romances, the series looks at the lives and loves of the local search and rescue team. Ellie Meeks knew the risks of marrying an Army Ranger but still mourns the loss of her husband Dan, father to 3 year old twins Daisy and Daniel that he never got a chance to meet. Her days are filled caring for the twins as a single mom, and working part-time as a nurse, fortunate to have help from her parents and her sister but with no thought of entering into another relationship. When her neighbor Jesse Moretti helps her out of a jam, her long dormant libido takes notice. He’s lived quietly on the property next to hers for two years but until now, they’d never formally met. Jesse is a former army veteran, now a volunteer member of the Rocky Mountain Search and Rescue Team and a full time ski patroller at a local resort. He’s single but wary of entering into a relationship, his PTSD issues making him believe he’s damaged goods. After their first meeting, a friendship develops, one that doesn’t hide the attraction burgeoning between them. They both know that falling in love is a calculated risk – will it be one worth taking? I really enjoyed this story! The author is clearly knowledgeable about the area making the various locales feel authentic. Because of both Jesse and Ellie’s jobs, there is a fair amount of emotional intensity and drama with rescue scenes, medical emergencies and flashbacks. At the same time, the development of the romance between them, heightened by the emotions involved, also moves at a fast pace. From the start they trust each other, leading to some steamy love scenes and deep conversations. Ellie’s twins are key secondary characters, as is the relationship that Jesse develops with them. He’s nervous around them at first, having had no experience with kids but learns the ropes quickly. All the characters in this story are multifaceted and feel very real. Experiences in Jesse’s past that he had tried to bury come out when he is with Ellie, and get to the point where they can’t be ignored. Ellie’s grief for her dead husband is still tangible and there are some guilt issues she needs to overcome. As well, there are certain revelations that come up that need to be addressed before they can get their happy ending. Drama, action, sex, family, friends, and romance – all play their part in this entertaining read.
