This may be the best book from Susan Sleeman has written yet. The action is cover to cover. The characters are well developed. The plot is straight-forward, but has interesting twists and turn. You know the bad guy up front, but how he's brought in is what makes the story great. A very good read. This is the first of the White Knight series,. I've started on the second, and am looking forward to the rest.

This is the first book I've read by Susan Sleeman. I discovered her and this fantastic book on a Scavenger Hunt. It caught my attention and I called a local bookstore. They had it in stock & I bought it the next day. The plot pulled me in on the first couple of pages and the tension and suspense kept me turning the pages. Before I read more than a few chapters I called the bookstore and ordered Kill Shot. I was so fortunate, they had an order going out that day. I was able to pick it up by the end of the week. Both books are filled with suspense. Fatal Mistake has a bomber that is after our heroine because she's the only witness to ever survive an attack by the Lone Wolf. Cal is the FBI agent trying to capture the Lone Wolf. Susan Sleeman immediately went on my Favorite Authors list before I finished this book. When a book touches my emotions, captures my attention and doesn't let go or just a page turner then its automatic 5 star rating for me. No one asked me to buy the book, leave reviews and all opinions are my own. Fantastic author and both books are fast paced, well developed characters and I truly enjoyed both books. Highly recommend this author if you like a good Christian romantic suspense with the emphasis on suspense..

As always, Susan Sleeman keeps her readers in the palm of her hand as she moves them along through a story line filled with suspense. In Fatal Mistake we learn right away who is behind the terror plot; it is the motivation that is slowly revealed. As both main and secondary characters find themselves in extreme danger, readers may find themselves tensing up and holding their breath as tension mounts. There is a bit of romance in the book, but it definitely plays second to the suspense. The overarching theme of this book deals with taking on responsibility and guilt for things that are out of one’s control. Doing so not only robs one of joy, but will likely have a negative impact on the choices one makes. Readers see this play out in the lives of Tara Parrish and Cal Riggins. Tara accidentally stumbles upon the identity of a terrorist bomber, quickly becoming his target. For a while she alludes both him and her would-be protectors, a special FBI unit known as the White Knights. She does not want to be responsible for more lost lives. Cal, a member of the White Knights, is driven by his need to make things right by compensating for lives lost with more lives saved, hoping to quench the guilt that hounds him. As readers will anticipate it is between these two that the romantic tension exists, but will this tension lead to a fatal mistake? I thank NetGalley and Faith Words for providing a copy of Fatal Mistake in exchange for my honest review. I received no monetary compensation for providing this review.

Fatal Mistake is a book so intense you have to have the lights on and you don't want to be alone, but you are glad you are so no one sees how thrilled you are or how mystified it has made you. You are like you are on the whip around being thrown from one side to the other from one clue to the other with this killer. Tara seems to know who the killer is and she is scared out of her wits and is in a whole lot of danger. The ride starts immediately from word one and continues all the way to the very last word. I promise you are shocked, scared, amazed and overjoyed at the storyline and how this killer is getting away with what they are getting away with and with what they are going to try to :) A woman found a cache of explosives and told the FBI's 800 number, so where is the target? Did he succeed in exploding His target? Did they catch the killer or did he survive? is Tara safe? Cal is the FBI agent trying to protect Tara all the while falling for her and doing his full time job too, going after the Lone Wolf - the one who had the cache of explosives. Is Cal successful in keeping her safe? Did he find the Lone Wolfe in time? Will he and Tara find each other in all this mess? I received a copy of this book from Faith Words/Center Street. All the opinions are my own of this book.

This is a great suspense that you don't want to start unless you have some time to spend reading. It grabbed me from the first page and could be a story out of today's headlines. Tara Parrish goes to her Aunt June's pump house when there is a problem with the pump only to find bomb making materials. She soon decides that the only one that could be using the building is her childhood friend, Oren Keeler, who is living on her aunt's farm. She and Oren are not as close as they used to be but she can't understand why he would have the material there especially upon investigating further, it appears from papers there to be the work of the Lone Wolf, who is killing young women using necklace bombs. Before he comes back and discovers her, she dials the FBI Bomb Hotline and soon is talking to Special Agent Cal Riggins. He quickly lines up a helicopter to get to her. Cal is on the task force trying to locate and arrest the Lone Wolf. He is able to calm Tara down some, enough to get her to find something to hit Oren with while she can try to escape. She is able to stun Oren long enough to run but by the time that Cal arrives, Oren has shot Tara and run away when he sees the helicopter. Later while Tara is in the hospital guarded by an agent, Oren appears outside of her room and threatens her. Not understanding how he can reach her, Tara takes off running as soon as she can leave the hospital. Cal is determined to find the Lone Wolf but needs Tara's help. Unfortunately, no one knows where she is. Eventually, his team locates her and with her help, the team searches for Oren. He seems to be one step behind them or ahead of them but still evades them continuing his bombing spree. This is an edge of the seat, nail biter. Ms. Sleeman has a good writing style and does a great job with plot and character development, and scenery description. Both Tara and Cal need to work on their relationship to God and as things heat up, both lean more on their faith. I highly recommend this book for a suspenseful read with some romance and lots of adventure thrown in. Thanks to NetGalley and Faith Works for the copy to read and review. I did buy the book before I heard from them because I was anxious to read it.

This story opens with a bang, literally a bomb and gunshots, and ends with bombs around necks of those we are now caring about. A man with a warped sense of justice, a mind that now believes that if you don’t believe as he does, then you must die, and has now become know as the Lone Wolf and started killing women. A fairly knowledgeable man with evil intent, and you begin to wonder how he can be in so many places at one time, where is all the money coming from. Guess from recent news you will have an idea, and yet will justice prevail or this time the evil win? There is a bit of romance here, Tara is the one being perused, and Cal is the rescuer, or at least trying to be, and he does succeed in saving her life a few times. While Tara is coming out of a controlling relationship, I had the feeling that Cal is married to his job at the FBI fighting terrorism. There is a light in this story and that is Aunt June, a sweet God loving woman, that has been a saving grace in Tara’s life. Even with all her kindness, you have to wonder if she will survive. A riveting page turner of a read, and one that will be with you for a long time.

I love all books by this author so was excited to see a new series, White Knights. Fatal Mistake was a wonderful book – it pulled me in from the beginning and hasn’t let go yet. I can’t stop thinking about the characters, the storyline and how this author seamlessly ties spiritual truths without taking me out of the story - just like real life where spiritual truths and real life collide. I love the way this author builds realistic and authentic characters. Not perfect; yet very relatable and growth occurring from beginning to the end. I’m disappointed I have to wait to read the next book in this series – it can’t come fast enough.

FATAL MISTAKE is the newest action-packed romantic suspense by Susan Sleeman. She is one of my top ten favorite romantic suspense authors and this story didn't disappoint. Like her Love Inspired Suspenses, FATAL MISTAKE started off with a bang, and both the heroine and the hero were kept running, struggling to stay one step ahead of the killer for the entire book. For a while I wondered if this book would break tradition and not have a HEA as the tension rose and the heroine's life is threatened and the hero is unaware of where she is. . . and... well, you'll have to read the book! Suffice it to say that when I reached the black moment between church services (I read this on a Sunday) that I didn't want to put it down long enough to go to church! (But my husband is the pastor, so I did.) If you love romantic suspense you will definitely want to read FATAL MISTAKE. I heard many rave reviews about this book and was anxious to read it myself. And you'll want to read it too! I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

You can rest assure that any book by Ms. Sleeman’s will keep you engaged throughout the story. Fatal Mistake the first book in her new series, White Knights, is no exception. These elite FBI agents , are part of the Critical Incident Response group. All interesting characters that I am sure we’ll get to know better as the series progresses. In this story, our main characters are Cal Riggins, and Tara Parrish. Cal is the one who responds to Tara’s emergency call to the FBI hotline. She suspects her friend Oren is the Lone Wolfe and at the moment she is trapped and fears that once Oren finds her, he will kill her. Cal is her lifeline until she gets hurt. Fearing no one can help her, she disappears . Cal is determined to find her, and does, since he believes she is the key in catching Oren. As the story develops , so does the attraction between these two, but each has personal demons and both feel God has abandoned them. Besides an engaging storyline filled with suspense, criminal investigations, betrayal, and romance, it’s much more than that. It’s a story of individuals that are full of imperfections like us, who at times have lost their faith in God and in themselves, whose past experiences have caused them to build a wall around their hearts and their feelings, but with faith and love, they are able to overcome it all. Another clean, Christian , romance suspense story by this talented author. One worth your time. I was gifted this book by Netgalley and the author. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

this one sucked me in very quickly from the early pages and did not let ago until I finished it yesterday. It's a book you could inhale in one sitting if life cooperates -- mine didn't, but I kept wanting to return to it. The book opens with Tara realizing that her childhood friend is the worst equivalent of the Unibomber. She has to go on the run when he almost kills her, making the FBI agent in charge of the investigation furious and also wondering if she has something to do with the crimes. Reluctantly they have to work together to try to bring the Lone Wolf to justice, but it looks like they will fail at every turn. I loved how the spiritual threads were so woven into the fabric of this story. It was a seamless growth for Tara and Cal, and not a straight line to each other. Fatal Mistake will be a satisfying read for those who love a romantic suspense with plenty of twists and turns plus tension between the hero and heroine.

Tara is the only person who saw the Lone Wolf bomber and knows who he is. But she's terrified that he'll come after her and the police won't be able to protect her. So she runs. But the Lone Wolf is tracking her and killing anyone associated with her. Cal, an FBI agent, is intend on finding Tara and flushing out the bomber. But he can't do it without Tara's help. Both of them must work together to find the bomber before he claims another victim. But what will happen if they both give in to the attraction between them? I loved this story. The characters were flawed, yet likable. The secondary characters were a great addition and supported the main characters. The plot was original and full of suspense. The author did a great job of creating drama and tension to keep the story moving, while incorporating great elements of faith, family, and romance so the plot wasn't all about the bomber. She intricately wove the whole story together to create an edge of your seat suspense that I couldn't put down. I've enjoyed every story by this author, but this one is now my favorite. Definitely grab a copy if you enjoy suspense and romance. I received a copy of this book. All thoughts expressed are my own.

An intricately woven romantic suspense novel! I love both of the main characters in this wonderful book. Both Tara and Cal are trying hard to keep their distance from others because of wounds that they are carrying. At the same time they are in a situation where they really need to rely on each other. I was very emotionally caught up in both of their lives present and past very quickly. The plot of the story was fantastic. We knew from the beginning who the terrorist was. It was quite a journey to locate him and figure out how to stop him from killing again. It kept me very involved and pulling for Cal and his team to sort things out. I’m really looking forward to seeing what comes next for Cal and the rest of the White Knights team. I received a free eBook copy of this novel through NetGalley. Susan Sleeman isn't a new author but she is a new-to-me author. Fatal Mistake was a wonderful introduction to her work. I enjoyed the fast pace of the plot and the detailed descriptions of the tactics used to intercept the Lone Wolf serial killer. This is the first book in the White Knights series that will revolve around a group of FBI special response agents. This novel features agent Cal Riggins. Cal and his team are on the hunt for the Lone Wolf bomber. They are tipped off by Tara Parrish who discovered the missing link to the killer's identity. It soon becomes evident that Tara is in grave danger and she is put into protective custody. As I said earlier this is a fast read. It's one of those that you keep saying, just one more chapter and then I'll put it down. But before you know it you've devoured the entire book. I enjoyed the seemingly accurate drama and was fascinated by the tactics used to find and apprehend the killer. For the most part I enjoyed getting to know the characters and I look forward to reading the rest of the series to see how the team continues on. The only part that I found a bit irritating was the character of Cal. His angry outbursts don't seem to fit with a highly trained former Navy SEAL and a current FBI agent. I would think that his undisciplined actions would get him disciplined and or kicked out of the team. Even with that hesitation I still enjoyed the book immensely. This would be a good pick for your reading group. There are some great discussion questions in the back of the book that would make for interesting interactions within your group. There's also a teaser for the next book. According to the reading the next book is called Kill Shot and the featured agent will be Rick Cannon. It doesn't come out until early 2018 so the waiting is going to be torture. I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.

Fatal Mistake is the first book in Susan Sleemans' new White Knights series. I can not wait to get my hands on the rest of the books! I was drawn in from the first page and had a difficult time putting the book down. Sleeman kept my interest the entire time, and had me biting my nails nervous. I found the characters interesting and had a lot of fun getting to know them. This book follows Cal and Tara as they try to find the Lone Wolf bomber. Tara has a feeling her life will never go back to the way it was. Escaping with her life has changed her, and now she will do everything in her power to survive. Tara knows Cal is looking for her, but doesn't feel that the White Knights are enough to protect her. When Cal finally finds her, he knows he has to keep her in his sight. For some reason she gets to him, and they both have to fight the attraction they feel. The Lone Wolf seems to be upping his game, and no one can stand to let their guard down. Will they make it out alive or will they just be another of the Lone Wolfs victims? I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a great romantic suspense. The plot line was believable and I loved how the romance progressed. I was not ready for the book to end, I didn't want to say goodbye to these fun characters and their intriguing stories. The characters had problems with controlling anger and fear, which we can all relate to. I liked seeing them work through some of their issues, and enjoyed the friendships the White Knights had with each other. I can't wait to see what Ricks' story holds. I received a copy of this book from FaithWords publishing in exchange for my honest opinion. All opinions expressed are my own.

I always get more excited about a new series from a favorite author, and this introduction to the White Knights was a real page turner! I love the amount of research that the author puts into the criminal and investigative sides of her stories to make everything accurate. I felt like I was right in the middle of the action! She does such a great job of explaining the technical parts, too, in a way that's informative without bogging down the story. Plot: When she accidentally stumbles on bomb making supplies hidden in her aunt's shed, Tara Parrish knows she's in trouble. Her call to the FBI connects her to Agent Cal Riggins, who listens helplessly as the Lone Wolf bomber returns. Tara runs for her life and narrowly escapes, but now that she knows the identity of one of the FBI's most wanted fugitives, she's not out of danger until he's caught. Not trusting anyone to keep her safe, Tara sets off on her own. Cal is determined to keep Tara safe, but first, he has to find her. Characters: I loved Tara's spunk! She's not the heroine you'd expect from a series that's centered around a team of 'Knights'. I love how she doesn't wait to see what happens, but takes action to protect herself. Cal's a little bit awkward, in an endearing sort of way. A suit in the woods may not be the best choice, but he's got a good heart. I loved learning about what made him the way he is. Content: This is a clean and inspirational romance. There's a little bit of violence, which is not detailed and given the subject of the book, understandable. I really enjoyed how the author wove faith into the story without making it preachy. This is a good book for all type of readers. Recommendation: I'd highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys well-written suspense with a light romance. It's the first book of the series and ends with everything resolved, so it can stand alone. However, I can't wait to learn more about the White Knights. They have such an interesting dynamic and I look forward to spending more time with them all. Rating: 4.5/5 stars I received a copy of this book from Netgalley. This review is my honest opinion.

SUPER SUSPENSE!! When I read a romantic suspense novel, I want to be hooked into the story early. Sleeman manages to do this in the opening sentence of Fatal Mistake. This is the first book in her new White Knight Series. It's a thriller from beginning to end! The first sentence takes your breath away and from then on, you keep trying to get it back because with every new page and every new chapter there are more perils waiting for Tara Parrish and FBI Agent Cal Riggins. He and his fellow team members known as the White Knights are in a desperate search to find the "Lone Wolf" serial killer who is stalking Tara. She is the only person who has managed to escape an attack but he keeps coming after her and his psychological games plague both her and the team trying to protect her. This is a thrill-a-minute read & you won't want to put it down from the first page to the last! I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and NetGalley but this opinion is strictly my own and without influence.

This book is extraordinary! From the moment I read the first sentence until I read the last chapter, I was so caught up in the story that I didn't even know what was going on around me - I had to apologize to my husband! All the characters were very realistic, so much so that they could be your neighbor, your best friend or your Aunt Sarah! You could relate to each one of them....that is the mark of a great writer and that's why I love this author! She makes the story come alive and you can't stop thinking about her books (and stories) for days after you finish them. In this book, Tara Parrish stumbles upon bomb-making ingredients just by going out to the pump house of her aunt's house to check on something at her aunt's request! She is suddenly sickened at the thought that her childhood friend whom she's known for years is the LONE WOLF BOMBER - a serial killer who has been terrorizing the country. She can't wrap her mind around it but she at least calls the FBI hotline to report what she is seeing inside the pump house! However, she sees the bomber (Oren) coming and has to think fast because there's no way of getting out of that small shed so the FBI agent on the phone (Cal Riggins) helps her with a plans to escape. At least she is able to blindside Oren and run, although Oren chases her. Cal, on the other hand is racing against time in a helicopter to try to find Tara and save her! That's just the first couple pages! It's an amazing story and you can tell that SO much research went into it because the FBI technical parts are fantastic and show you how hard it is to catch a criminal. I was literally on the edge of my seat most of the time and turning those pages as fast as I could!!! All the people on Cal's team were great too. I hope they all get their own stories! I enjoyed Cal's interaction with Tara because he's trying very hard to be professional through this whole experience but she is changing him. His upbringing wasn't the best and she is breaking down his barriers. I can't recommend this book enough. It has something for everyone and will make you very glad that you read it!

Fatal Mistake was a longer book than I have gotten used to reading from this author and I look forward to more of the same. I would be interested to read more about the secondary characters in the book, the team members of FBI agent Cal Riggins, especially the somewhat mysterious team leader Max, so I hope more are coming our way. But as for this story, I was hooked from the first page. Life has a way of interrupting when you want to read a good book, but I was finally able to find more than a few minutes in the day to really get into the story and once I did, I just had to finish it. The story was packed with non-stop action that grabs you right from the first page, characters you are rooting for from the first page to the last, and of course a little romantic tension between the main characters. The classic question of will they or won’t they just made this suspense novel so much harder to put down! Cal and his team of agents have been tracking a serial killer for some time, a killer knows as the Lone Wolf Bomber. When Tara Parrish visits her Aunt June, she finds that the boy she had grown up with, the man who was now the caretaker for her aunt’s property, was this elusive killer the agents are looking for. But as soon as she notifies the agents on their hotline of her new-found information, she disappears into a life on the run to protect herself and her beloved aunt from becoming the next targets of this crazy bomber. The story is a mad race for Cal and his team to find her, to discover why the killer is targeting women in such an unusual way, and to stop him before he can find Tara and make her the next victim.

"An FBI agent must protect the woman who can identify a terrorist bomber “ ; It's with that premise my heart started pounding in anticipation of a story that would leave me breathless the whole way through! What would it feel like to know that a childhood friend turned out to be an alleged terrorist with links to ISIS? And knowing he's coming after you? Beyond scary! Tara flees for her life, always having to watch her back, and be hyper-aware of her surroundings. Even with the protection of the FBI agent Cal Riggins and his team, she's terrified and afraid. Can they stop his reign of terror when he dogs their every move? This story could be ripped out of today's newspaper! The modern elements in this story made it feel very real. It had me gripped in it's clutches from the very first sentence & held captive until the end when I could finally catch my breath! The danger kept ramping up, the surprise attacks coming from unexpected places. A truly gripping suspense! I thought Tara and Cal were the perfect hero & heroine characters. I could connect with them as they both struggled with past issues, and as they began to get to know one another. Elements of attraction took the back seat, while the suspense took front & center. I loved seeing these two fall in love in spite of their reluctance to. I also loved the faith-theme woven throughout, God was a natural part of the story. Getting to know the rest of Cal's team—the White Knights—was an added bonus. I'm sure we'll meet them in the next installments of what sounds like another fantastic suspense series by an author who knows how to write them! Gripping terror, danger lurking around every corner, hints of romance and faith mesh in this highly recommended novel! * I was provided a digital copy of this by the author. No favorable review was required and all opinions here are strictly my own. *

4.5 Stars, this is book one in The White Knights series. I look forward to reading more in this series. Sleeman does an amazing job at writing suspenseful, FBI type, romance books. She incorporates so much in her novels and yet you feel like this could be happening right next door. I love the entire White Knight group, they are a special devision of the FBI. I can't wait to get into the lives of all the characters in this novel. You are first introduced to Tara Parrish, as she is in need of the White Knights. When she stumbles upon explosives and believes she may know 'The Lone Wolf bomber'. Will she be able to find the help she needs before it is too late? Tara must decide the best way to keep herself alive yet help solve this case and keep herself from heartache. Agent Cal Riggins (sigh worthy) is who answers the call on 'The Lone Wolf bomber' hotline. When he feels this call is on the up and up will he make it in time to save Tara. When Tara and Cal meet sparks fly in more ways than one. Will he be able to keep Tara safe and overcome some obstacles in his past as well? This book is full of suspense, mystery, romance, friendship and more. I love the writing style of Sleeman and always look forward to reading anything she writes.

From the first sentence you are drawn into a world of suspense and intrigue and the action doesn't stop until the last sentence. The characters are flawed and struggle with where is God in the bad times, but watching them grow and learning to trust others and God is beautifully woven together. Susan Sleeman is an expert at making your heart race while tying romance and faith into the story to keep you from having an anxiety attack. The secondary characters especially Aunt June add an interesting element to the story. I look forward to reading some of their stories in the future. If you love Suspense with a faith element then you will fall in love with Fatal Mistake the first in this new series. I can't wait for book two. I received a complimentary copy from the author. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.

If you’re looking for a fast-paced, thrill-packed story full of action and suspense with a side of romance, look no further. Fatal Mistake is the book for you. I’ve read several books by Susan Sleeman, but this is my favorite so far. My interest was captured from the first sentence to the last of the many plot twists and turns. This book is obviously well-researched, with the author giving enough detail to understand what’s going on, but not so much that it overwhelms the reader. The characters are carefully crafted and realistic. Cal and Tara, the main characters, come alive on the page and are endearing and relatable. I enjoyed the thread of faith and trust woven into the story. I would recommend this to those who enjoy clean romantic suspense. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Tara is just going about her every day life when she stubbles onto what appears to be the Lone Wolf. She gets spooked and runs, but can she out run him or will he be every step ahead. Cal gets a call that changes the investigation and throughs it all on top of its head. He just never expected to have the one victim that lived and make her the center of the investigation. Can he get to the bottom of all of this or will it continue to blow up in his face? This book is completely on the edge of your seat you need to know whats going to happen next. If you like Dee Henderson then this book is for sure a book you will want to read. This books extremely good, it had so many twist and turns that just when you thought about stopping the author throws in a twist and you need to know whats happens. I read this in one setting because I found it hard to put down and before I knew it I was done. I can not wait for more. I so loved this team and want to know more about this fun and close group of friends.

Excellent story! I loved Fatal Mistake, the first book in the White Knights series. It is a fast paced story that was hard to put down. I enjoyed the romance between Cal and Tara as the interactions between the White Knights. The underlying theme of trusting in God is perfect for the storyline. I recommend Fatal Mistake.

A best friend turned mortal enemy. The young boy Tara Parrish played with as a youth has evolved into a hateful serial killer. Oren Keeler uses his knowledge of explosives to create terrifying bombs to kill women as he pursues Tara, the one woman who escaped his murderous intentions. Cal Riggins, FBI Special Agent tasked with keeping Tara safe, finds himself in danger of losing his heart. But both Cal and Tara have gigantic trust issues to overcome before they can consider a relationship...if they can survive that long. In Fatal Mistake, Book one of the White Knights Series, Susan Sleeman expertly engages the reader within the first sentence. Sleeman's writing is taut, tension-filled, and addicting all at once. The reader is taken on a terrifying journey alongside Tara and Cal and can only hope to emerge in one piece at the end. Just in time to read the preview for book two, Kill Shot, coming in early 2018! I'll be anxiously waiting!! I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley. This did not influence my opinion, freely given.
