This book is among our family's favorite volumns and was our introduction to the talented Lois Ehlert. It was a gift to my first born many years ago and has entertained us all ever since. The book is beautifully illustrated in an original style, and the clever rhyme is very funny, even for an adult who has read it dozens of times! The end of the book features a section that identifies the types of birds drawn in the story, so the book is also educational. Our family HIGHLY recommends this book, as well as others by Lois Ehlert.

This book was a gift for my two-year old (almost three) grandson. It is beautifully illustrated and has a cute story line. Conveniently many of the birds shown in the book were at our bird feeder while we were reading the story, so they were easily recognizable. I'm happy to say there is now another avid bird watcher in our family.

I read this book to my preschool class and we all practiced the bird calls that are included. They loved it and wanted to read it over and over again.

Ehlert's vibrant colors and easy "I can read too" rhymes are surpassed by the lesson plans you can build around each title. Our three year old twins built a birdhouse and feeder, planted butterfly gardens, grew veggies in flowerpots and know every critter in the yard. Her books truly come alive!

Great colors and attention to detail enhance this story about a cat looking for something new for lunch. Great read-aloud.
