Major Clay Shelley is a B-17 bomber pilot. When he learns the next target is Dresden, Germany, a non-military target, he rebels against the mission but finds he cannot abandon his crew. When his plane is shot down, he parachutes into the burning hell of Dresden.
Karl Bruner, a pacifist physician, is part of the resistance in Nazi Germany and participates in the attempt to assassinate Adolf Hitler. Arrested by the Gestapo, he escapes and hurries to Dresden to save his family from the holocau...
