Although one of the target audiences chosen for this book was people interesting in purchasing or setting up a floral design business, I purchased this book with a different mind set, as I was looking for detailed but basic skills that I could learn in the area of floral arranging. I am a teacher, and wanted to teach some of my students how to work with products straight from nature. With no previous experience in working with floral design, I looked at different publications that would get me started. When i went through the table of content, I quickly saw that this book was all I needed to learn basic (and advanced skills if I wanted) to teach to my students. This book is set up in such a way that you learn how to get to an end product from scratch. Where other books only teach you the skills in isolation with no end goal, this book provided that end goal I desperately needed to keep focused. Just like learning in the classroom, when a person knows where to head to, the learning task becomes so much easier. I am planning to use some of the floral designs in my classroom in early fall. Some of the female students in grade 7 indicated they would like to do floral arranging as extra curricular activity, so I have all summer to practice. I am confident that with the help of the information in this great ebook, I will be proficient enough to work with these students. Maybe I will even dare to try some of the more difficult designs! If you are looking for a book that helps you get started in floral design, I would recommend this book, as it is, just like some of the other books from Deborah Dolen I have read and utilized, are easy to learn from and very well written.
I am planning my wedding for next fall and my biggest stressor is flowers for the wedding. I love fancy floral designs but I just can't afford to pay for professional bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, centerpieces, aisle decorations etc... I bought this book a few weeks back and I now feel confident that my family, friends, and I can tackle this project of creating beautiful floral creations for my wedding. I ordered samples of bulk flowers just to make some test run centerpieces and I was surprised how easy it was with the proper instructions. The best part of the book is there is actually an entire section on how to make floral design specifically for weddings. I also enjoyed that the meaning of each flower was included in the back. This really helped me decide what I want my wedding flowers to say about my fiancé and I as we become a newly married couple.
Fantastic guide on flowers, and flower arrangements. i absolutely love the way it's written, the illustrations and the ease and simplicity with which Deborah wields her knowledge. While she makes it all look easy - I hope to get better at it as I practice. Awesome guide.
This was a great purchase for me too!
