It has been interesting to read this book. I have some knowledge of the game, my dad took me to high school games when I was little and I attended games in high school and college. I have watched the pros(GO STEELERS!!)for years, also. I found it was beneficial to have a working knowledge base of the game so that the descriptions and information could be better absorbed. I now know how to mathematically figure a quarterback's rating, which was helpful since I was always puzzled about how the rating was considered. I have gone back and looked up specific information when watching the NFL playoff games and I do feel a bit more comfortable discussing the game with male colleagues or relatives.

A lot of my co-workers are into football and although I never really watched or played it growing up, their interest started to rub off on me. I picked some things up here and there watching the game and followed my favorite team and players at first. I was the kind of fan that cheered when the team scored or intercepted a pass, but I never understood the strategies, the plays that should or shouldn't be made, the different positions and what they do on offense and defense, etc. I read this book cover to cover and my understanding and enjoyment of football really increased. I was able to recognize what the commentators were talking about and I was able to talk about football with a little more authority. Overall, if you want to be more than just another fan, buy this book and learn to figure out this great game.

As a woman who knows the difference between a touchdown and a touchback I was curious and wanted to know more (like offensive and defensive strategies as well as penalties and official rules of the game). This is an excellent resource that I would recommend to any football fan (dummy or not).
