Six years later, Alistair is working for the Regent as a spy. A search for Napoleon's English supporters leads him to the beguiling Winifred, recently widowed with a young son. He hasn't forgotten how the unconventional beauty warmed his bed, and the heat between them rekindles immediately. The spymaster is determined to uncover all of plucky Winifred's secrets. Alistair Devlin, the Marques of Coventry, is a different kind of hero. He is a genius, England's top code breaker, supposedly murdered his wife & hermit, but he has the emotional depth of Mr. Spock. Emotions are a waste of air & space in his small world, so try to understand them. Miss Winifred Wilmington is a jilted at the altar bride & rumored to be a harlot by her jilted groom. On Christmas Eve of 1806, these 2 meet via a snow storm & fall into his bed for an early Santa's present to themselves. Now it's 6 years later & they meet again because of her deceased hubby's maps. Alistair needs them to break a code & catch a traitor. The sexual energy between them is still super charged & when he pushes, she pulls, but he does gets some knee malting kisses in to weaken her. Winifred has a 5year old son, who is special & different, a unwanted suited, a duct taped heart via him & Alistair has murder, intrigue & conspiracies endangering than all. Will Winifred slap some feelings into her Vulcan Marquess? Can Alistair discover his own heart for the only woman who truly understands him? Ms. DeHart does it again with this quickie read & I absolutely love Vulcan like Alistair. He was such a different hero who just didn't get feelings & I so see him with pointed ears in the movie version! Winifred has such an inner strength that she earned with blood, sweat & tears from her heartache. These 2 only share only 1 night together in this book, but Alistair sure knows how to use his lips, tongue & hands to pluck each SCREAMING orgasm from Winifred. Ms. DeHart earned my top score for this Vulcan inspired romance tale of 5 fingers up & 10 toes & I can't wait to read her next book! NetGalley ARC given for my honest review.

A quick paced, romance rich, novella that will hook you from start to finish. On a snowy Christmas Eve, Winifred finds herself stranded beside the road with little hope of a rescuer. When the notorious Alistair, Marquess of Coventry, comes along, she has little choice but to go with him to his estate to wait out the storm. She finds herself quite attracted to him, though his manner is less than amicable. When the opportunity arises, Winifred decides to take advantage of the situation, and her already ruined reputation, and engage in a night of passion with the handsome, yet mysterious Marquess. But she gets a little more than she’s bargained for. Years later, Winifred, now a widow, finds Alistair on her doorstep, searching for maps belonging to her now deceased husband. Knowing that he works for the Crown, she eventually decides to let him in, but knows she must protect her secret, her son. As the two decide to engage in an affair, they each discover that they’ve fallen in love, but neither will admit it. When a plot twist occurs that forces Winifred and her son Oliver to stay at a friend of Alistair’s house for their safety, Winifred’s secret comes out. But when Alistair comes face to face with Oliver, will he be able to see what is so obvious? And will he be able to accept his fate and admit his love for Winifred despite his dark and painful past? What a fabulously written and intriguing novella by Robyn Dehart! Because it is a novella, it is a very quick read but has such an engaging storyline that you won’t want to put it down! I loved the dynamic between Alistair and Winifred and how she saw through his gruff and quiet exterior to the wonderful, caring man within. I also appreciated the way that Alistair’s childhood difficulties helped him learn how to interact and love Oliver. It was such a touching moment when Oliver finally spoke that I was smiling as I read! I loved everything about this novella and can’t wait to read more by Ms. Dehart! Short and sweet, For Her Spy Only was a lovely historical romance novella. I really liked this quick and enjoyable read. Both characters were great. Winifred was a kind-hearted, likable character who was devoted to her son, who had a speech impediment he inherited from his father. Alistair, who was brilliant with numbers and not so great with words and people, was sweet in his own way. I liked them both. The romance was sweet, though kind of shallow, even for a novella. But, I thought it was very sweet how Winifred loved Alistair, including his oddities that made him distant from society. I thought they were a lovely couple. The plot moved quickly and I was kept interested the entire way through. I enjoyed the story and the ending was sweet. For Her Spy Only was a sweet historical romance novella. I enjoyed reading it and I quite liked it. Romance lovers, if you want to light and fast read, you'll want to check this one out. *I received a complimentary copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review

Alistair, Marquess of Coventry, rescues Miss Winifred Wilmington during a blizzard. He takes her to his estate and they become lovers. When the weather improved, she left. End of Story. Now six years later he meets her again. She is a widow with a young son. The desire is still there, but what happens when he learns her secret? This novella is filled with romance and suspense. Alistair and Winifred are a well matched couple. They are not bound by the strict dictates of society. They are willing to take a chances to achieve their happiness. For Her Spy Only is an exhilarating adventure combined with a sensual romance. Robyn DeHart creates an atmosphere of danger and intrigue which brings our two lovers together. I enjoyed For Her Spy Only and plan to read more of this series (A Masquerading Mistresses).

Rating 4 1/2 A couple of days ago I read For Her Spy Only by Robyn DeHart, and I must say that I did enjoy the story a lot. Now this is the second story in Masquerading Mistresses. Since this is a novella, I'm just going to jump in why I liked the story.  First off, I liked Winifred and Alistair. Both of them are unique characters. You have Winifred who is understanding and actually shows Alistair patiences. Alistair is a particular guy, and he kind shows signs of Aspergers. While growing up people didn't know how to handle that, so he thought it would be best if he shut himself from the world. Even more so after the death of his first wife, which didn't help the rumors.  Anyway, For Her Spy Only is a pace read for a novella. A lot is going on with Alistair trying to break a code, and the same time trying to get Winifred to get back into his bed. The time they were together he couldn't forget. Then you add the complication of Winifred's child. I did like the interaction between Alistair and the child.  Overall, For Her Spy Only is a pretty good novella. However, I do have one gripe, and that the end felt a little too rush. I think the ending could have been a little longer and still filled the criteria for a novella. Other than that the story is pretty solid, with enough going to keep your attention. Now, I want to know who is the spy and who is next to get the love bug bite.  Copy provided by the publisher

This is book 2 in the Masquerading Mistresses series. Winifred and her maid are stranded on the side of the road when Alistair, the Marquess of Coventry, comes to their rescue. With no other options, they accepted the help and stay with Alistair until they can travel again.  Winifred finds herself attracted to Alistair and instead of fighting it, Winifred gives into it. Her betrothed had jilted her and started spreading rumors. Since she was paying for crimes that she didn't commit, why not actually do something to deserve the scorn.  Six years later finds Winifred a widow with a young son and Alistair knocking on her door. He has come to look at her husband's maps and is surprised to find she is the widow of the man he came to see. Their chemistry rekindles instantly, but Winifred must keep her distance to protect her son. What will Alistair do when he finds out the truth she has been hiding? This was a pretty quick read, but I think DeHart did a good job of hooking me in with a satisfying story. I liked that Winifred was not your typical society miss and took control of her life (feel an attraction, don't fight it!). Alistair was looking for the maps to decode a message for a spy mission. The added element of that made it a very enjoyable read. DeHart does a wonderful job with novellas. She sucks me in and keeps me enthralled just like with a full length novel. I can't wait to see what she has coming up! Thanks go to Entangled Publishing for a copy of the book in exchange of and honest review.
