I loved these characters! Ms. Aubrey captures the unique behaviors and verbal exchanges of someone on the autism spectrum...a segment of the population so often neglected in "romance"...with such competence that you can't help but fall in love with William. And Jenna's amazing resilience... This is a story I will definitely be recommending to friends.

Original review link: I really love this series and William and Jenna’s story was just so sweet and original that you couldn’t help but cheer for them to get together! William Drake is autistic and has trouble relating to people because he sees things in absolutes. Even though he is handsome, extremely talented, and wealthy, all William really wants is Jenna Kovac. Jenna on the other hand, never stays in one place for long and has issues committing to people because of her troubled past. When William steps in and offers to fight for Jenna, fate has other plans for these two. Will they learn to see past their own fears and love one another? Or will their stubbornness force them to lose out on something great? I really liked this story. For one, I really loved how Brenna Aubrey incorporates a hero who has autism. That’s really not something that’s done in literature every day. She also does it in a really fantastic way. You get inside William’s head and see how he thinks and why he says the things he says. It was so charming watching him interact with Jenna and vice versa. Jenna was a far from perfect character. Her fear of love kept her from enjoying life–until William came along. I loved their interactions. They helped each other grow and brought out the best in one another. They really pushed each other to break through their fears and challenged one another to experience new things. The story alternates between William and Jenna’s point of view and it helps to move the plot along. The plot moved well and dealt with some tough issues besides William’s autism like PTSD and emotional trauma. They were all handled extremely well. I loved watching these characters work through their issues and in doing so helping the other. We see some familiar faces (Adam, Mia, Jordan, April) and while it is nice to have read the previous installments of the series, it’s not technically necessary to enjoy William and Jenna’s story (although I would highly recommend it, especially if you’re a self proclaimed geek like me!). Pick up William and Jenna’s story, or Adam and Mia’s or Jordan and April’s. You won’t regret starting this series! William and Jenna’s story gives you hope that everyone deserves love, even if we don’t always believe that of ourselves.

William Drake is no ordinary twenty-six-year-old man. He’s artistically genius, intense, and unlike any hero you've ever met. If you’ve read this series, you’ll know what I am talking about. If not, then I think this is the perfect introduction to this series. And will make you want to go back the the very beginning. Jenna Kovac has been through and seen things that most of us will never see or endure in our life time. Her past casts a dark shadow over her life in the present. But despite it all, she is a survivor. And William has been drawn to her ever since. For someone that never really displays emotions or need. Jenna is making him feel everything he never thought was even possible. “She is art.” Jenna doesn’t believe in love. Well at least not for her. She is known to run. As soon as she finds herself attached to a place or people, her first reaction is to flee. Her defense does not sit well with William. Without going into too many details, when a situation arises, William comes to her defense. Jenna learns so much about William. She finds it easy to fall for him. But in doing this, she must let him in and her secrets threaten to unravel. Is he worth that risk? I will not discuss the plot much further as this is the type of the story that allows you as a reader to get lost in. “Who’d have thought that something you can’t see, hear or touch, much less even define could rule your life so completely.” The love between Jenna and William is truly transcending. Their story is unlike anything you've ever read. It pushes every boundary and every misconstrued opinion on whether someone like William can ever truly love someone. And he does. Fiercely. Deeply. Loudly. His love for Jenna is overwhelming. Moving. William loves without regard. Nothing held back. He gives his all. Because of his love for Jenna, many times he was outside of his comfort zone. There was nothing that his love for her would stop him from accomplishing. Their love story will bewitch you as you are completely enthralled in the lives of two people who never truly understood love until each other. “You’re like a ray of sunlight cutting into darkness.” The writing is mesmerizing. Addicting. The author’s words are magnetic in the way she crafts this compelling story. William is not like any other hero you will probably ever meet. But his heart? It's so BIG. His soul? So pure. You want nothing more than to watch him fall irrevocably in love with Jenna. The author’s alluring prose is what keeps the reader engaged in the story. The writing is quirky at times, fun, and in it’s own league. No one writes characters like she can. The author gives a voice to so many people like William. She gives hope to those like Jenna. That despite your circumstance, you are worthy to be loved. That being loved is the greatest honor. Falling for someone is giving that person the power to hurt you, but expecting them not to. This is the risk Jenna took with William, but she finds that the risk with him is worth it. Always. For The One is a fun, sexy, yet thought provoking read. William and Jenna’s story was a captivating and consuming. To be loved, desired and worthy. What a privilege. Despite the push back from Jenna, William just pushed back harder. He loved harder. Until she could do nothing but surrender herself to his love. He made it know known just how much he wanted Jenna. Not for now. But for always. Forever.

One of the things that I think made this book special is getting into the mind of someone with Asperger's Syndrome. I loved the way it was explained (thinking in pictures, sensory, etc.). It's not often done in this genre, but Brenna Aubrey gives her characters so much depth that it really, really works. William and Jenna both have some major hangups, but they aren't necessarily what you expect. The story is still so much about what makes the two people tick and not just their pasts. Despite the majority of readers not having PTSD or being on the autism spectrum, these characters are so relatable and so normal (as sufferers of PTSD and autistic people are, of course). It's wonderful how that message is conveyed here. I loved the medieval reenactment angle. The duels, the tarot, the smithing... It's fun, and nerdy, and unique. And remember, it isn't LARPing. ;) Jenna just wanting to deflower Wil was a little frustrating at first. I'm not sure she really understood exactly how important his virginity was to him. William's bluntness and honesty, and honor, loyalty... You see it in earlier stories, but you really fall in love with him here. He really brings a lot to every scene he is in. Overall, I think this is an absolute joy to read and a great addition to the series!
