Overview

Lieutenant Alexander Colton and February Owens were high school sweethearts. Everyone in their small town knew from the moment they met they were meant for each other. But something happened and Feb broke Colt’s heart then she turned wild and tragedy struck. Colt meted out revenge against the man who brought Feb low but even though Colt risked it all for her, Feb turned her back on him and left town.

Fifteen years later, Feb comes back to help run the family bar. But there’s so much water under the bridge separating her and Colt everyone knows they’ll never get back together.

Until someone starts hacking up people in Feb’s life. Colt is still Colt and Feb is still Feb so the town watches as Colt goes all out to find the murderer while trying to keep Feb safe.

As the bodies pile up, The Feds move in and a twisting, turning story unravels exposing a very sick man who has claimed numerous victims along the way, Feb and Colt battle their enduring attraction and the beautiful but lost history that weaves them together.

Meet the Author

Kristen Ashley grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched). Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up. And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

After reading the Colorado Mountains series, I wasn't quite through with this very talented author. This is a great story with enjoyable main charaters and great secondary characters.

I loved this book so much. I am becoming a huge fan of Kristen Ashley. If you have read any of her other books you will not be disappointed. This story is a perfect of love lost and found again with a great deal of suspense thrown in. The only complaint I have is editing could have been better, even with that said this book deserves 5 stars

This is my first book by this author and I was blown away. Can't wait to see what comes next. I loved the writing style, the plot and the couple. Also loved the supporting characters and I can't wait to hear about rhem.

Unlike many of Ashley's books, I couldn't wait for this one to be over with. I skipped over paragraphs and entire pages. After the first 50 pages or so, the reader got where the book was going and once the killer was revealed, it should have wrapped up. Instead the book continued to introduce characters, relive the past, and drag on. 450 pages

Right from the beginning I was hooked. I had a million questions and I was all in! It was so freaking good, I couldn't read it fast enough. Honestly I had a hard time putting it down because every time I thought I had something figured out, bam! A twist and a turn. This was drama filled, emotional and intense. Truly fantastic! February and Colt are such rich, detailed characters I loved learning all the ends and out and watching them come together. I thought it had a great build and development and I was caught up in their past, where they'd been, where they were, and what they were going through. Feb and Colt have that chemistry that's beautiful to witness. It's powerful. I loved watching their walls come down and them opening up. It was so emotional and I was caught up in it. There were some really happy, playful moments mixed in with all the intensity, just a bit and at the right time. I think it created a nice balance and I was thankful it was there because I was seriously worried about Colt and Feb while reading. There was a great cast of characters in this book. All very detailed and well written. All the interactions between the characters just made it such a full story. I love how everyone is so sweet and caring, not just Feb and Colt but all of them. It was like a movie playing out in my head. Loved all the interactions, friendships, and connections. I absolutely LOVED the mystery and intrigue happening throughout. It was sick and twisted and had me on the edge of my seat the entire time because I needed answers. There was drama and suspense and it all intertwined perfectly with Feb and Colt reconnecting. Definitely crazy, suspenseful stuff. I loved it all! Fantastic read. Truly. It was worth every single page (because this sucker was long)! Kristen Ashley for the win! I highly recommend it.

Colt and Feb's story. KA can bring the house down with her story writing. You won't want to miss this page turner.

A lot of characters to keep track of, suspense, drama, and romance... tough storyline to take with a serial killer involved, but a good story.

At first I was like...this is a really crappy story for all the characters but then the story unfolded and got better. Good book.

This is another fine example of a very good author, who loves to tell a full, very good story. I like the fact that she brings back characters from her other books so you know how they are doing, plus she ties them into the current story and makes them a part of the new story line. Another fun book to read. I highly reccommend her books.

Lieutenant Alec Colton and February Owens were once high school sweethearts and every one where sure they would last till the end of time. Until one fateful night when everything changed and Colt and Feb were no more. 15 years later Feb comes back to town to help with the family bar and steering clear of Alec Colton. Until someone starts hacking up people in Feb's life. Colt refuses to let anything harm Feb even though he has no idea why she left him in the first place. This is Kristen Ashley need I say more! She has done it again created a while world that you just fall right into. It feels as if you are apart of the story and a member of the family. For You keeps you on your toes guessing "who dunn-it" and rooting for Feb and Colt to come to terms with their feelings and finally make it to the other side unscathed! I recommend any and all Kristen Ashley writes to my friends and constantly tell them you will fall in love with her characters.

Ok ---- why I liked it but would have loved it if.... Even though this book was WAY longer than it needed to be, I really did enjoy the story.  That's why I gave it 4 stars,  because the story was entertaining.  The characters of Feb and Colt I really liked and I wanted to see how they ended up.  I also liked the supporting characters of their friends and family as well. I also liked the mystery though we find out who the  killer is about halfway through the book I felt the story at that point could have started to move a little faster but unfortunately continued to drag at points.  The author gets kind of wordy, repeating herself a bit.  If the story didn't hook me I would have stopped reading.  But it really did get my attention and I was way to curious about the outcome of everyone in The Burg to put it down.   I also gave 4 stars instead of 3 because I really liked how the author ended it she gave us a really nice HEA for the hero/heroine.  I understand book 2 of the series is better but I need a break from this series and will continue it another time.
