Inside the pages of this book lies a very Raw and excruciatingly emotional downward spiral of what was in the beginning , a deeply in love married couple and how as the time goes on life happens , jobs are lost , alcohol spills , lies flourish , hearts are irrevocably broken and one friend tries to hold them together even though he hides secrets of his own. I did love this story , not because of what happens to these characters , which was heartbreaking and sent me into my own depression , but because of the way it was written . It was as if the writers had been through a similar situation themselves , being themselves , a friend or loved one .I don't know , really , but you definitely FEEL every chapter , paragraph , sentence , and word being portrayed through these pages by these characters. I felt so bad for Ember . All she yearns for is her husband to be whole again , the man she married and promised to protect her to hold her and make everything alright . You will over the course of this book HATE Austin immensely , even though you see that he's dealing with a lot of self loathing and depression .It's the deal he makes with Cord that seals his fate . I Loved Cord .HE is a true friend , even though both Austin and Ember really had gone on with there lives after getting married , he stepped up and tried to come to both their rescues when in need. It just sucks that certain things were waved in his face. Keeping my eyes peeled for Vol two of the Degrees of Seperation Trilogy

I wasn't sure how I would feel about this love triangle going into this book. I absolutely loved it. Austin and December have been madly in love with one another and married for a few years, but the last 10 months have been a nightmare. Austin lost his job and has found solace in the bottle and left December to fend for herself. Cord was Austin's best friend growing up and when he realizes the trouble that Austin and Ember's marriage is in, he tries to help them out. He fights his feelings for both Austin and Ember as he tries to do what's right. This book rang so true for so many marriages in trouble and for people who are watching a loved one battle and addiction. You can't save someone if they don't want to save themselves. I cried with Ember as I saw her fight for her marriage and then realize that she had to save herself and she couldn't save Austin if he didn't want to be saved. This book gave me tears and laughs and the promise of things to come! I can't wait to see what book 2 brings us! Great read!
