I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. What can I say about book three in the Delos Series that will make you read the entire series? I love reading about the “start” of the Artemis security arm of the Delos charities, especially the three children who will head it up. This story is about Matt Culver, the second of the “children” and an Army Delta Force operator and Dara McKinley, a pediatrician who is doing a charity stint for a local Bagram Charity – not a Delos one, though. What I loved about this series is that I seem to learn something new with each story. This time, it was about Delta Force operators. Matt’s character is pretty amazing – and much like his namesake/middle name (Aslan), a lion, he has a sixth sense, for lack of a better term, about his work and it has saved his behind many times. It especially comes in handy when he and Dara are in a “situation”, no spoilers from me. Dara meets Matt after she and her sister perform an enticing belly dance for the USO Thanksgiving show. Matt is mesmerized and that is the end of his single life! Matt’s sixth sense makes him sensitive to all and some of the scenes where he displays his sensitivity in an orphanage will get you right in the heart. Dara is strong and sensitive as well and Matt believes she is the lioness, to his lion. I love the family dynamics of Matt’s entire and extended family and Dara and her younger sister, Callie, are great as well. Matt’s relationship with his sisters is really special to read and so different than what could have been a jealous competition, for lack of a better description. Ms. McKenna teases that there will be a novella out next summer that gives us more of Matt and Dara and I can’t wait to read more about them. I’ve said this before: I love this series and am looking forward to the next installment.

This is the third installment in the Delos Series by Lindsay McKenna and while I loved the other two I have to say that this story was my favorite. It begins with the Art of Belly Dancing at an on base talent show by sisters Dara and Callie McKinley and as the dance progresses we see Matt Culver, Delta Force operator use his black ops skills to meet Dr. Dara McKinley. Dara is a Pediatrician in Afghanistan for a week helping her sister Callie who works for one of the local charities there. the sparks fly between Dara and Matt and you get immersed in their blossoming romance. Ms. McKenna shows us the real victims of war and how everyday people are willing to sacrifice their safety to help those in need. Throw in a suspenseful chase by the Taliban and you have a story that you can't put down and are sorry when it ends. This is definitely a series I would recommend to readers that like romance and a large dose of suspense.

This book is the next installment in Lindsay Mckenna’s fresh and wonderful DELOS series. We are introduced to Army Sergeant, Delta Force Operator Matt Culver. He is the son of Air Force General Robert Culver and his exceptional wife Dilara. Their global charities support the less fortunate on all continents, except Antarctica. Due to the growing hostile environments around the world, they decide to create a division within Delos, ARTEMIS SECURITY, to provide protection so that their charities can safely continue to offer much needed humanitarian services everywhere. Matt is completing this military service and will transition to running a division of Artemis that addresses KNR, Kidnap and Ransom. His 9 years of being a Black Ops operator makes him the perfect candidate to spear head this action. Having been given the middle name of ‘Aslan’, meaning lion, this fierce spirit guides him well. While still deployed, at the urging of his military brother Beau Gardner, Matt attends an evening of entertainment offered by volunteers for the troops. One of the acts is a Turkish belly dance, performed by pediatrician Dr Dara McKinley and her sister Callie. From this night forward his life is forever changed. Matt experiences an instantaneous and powerful attraction to Dara. Can he trust this immediate and intense reaction? Over time and traumatic experiences Matt and Dara develop a strong bond with one another. They discover that although they exhibit strong, confident, warrior faces in order to function in their professions, they can also unmask themselves to reveal their softer, vulnerable, heart-centered sides to one another. Love grows and will lead them into the future.
