What happens when one moment changes the course of your entire life? Do you sit back and accept it, or fight to live the life you choose? Caleb Jacobs has a past that has haunted him for two years. Knowing he can never forgive himself for the events that led to his departure, Caleb chooses to live a quiet life-concentrating on school, sports, and shots. But when he is paired with Angie for a history project he realizes that no matter how much you try to hide from your past, one way or another it will find you.

Angelina Powers knows what she wants from life. Growing up with only an alcoholic father for company, Angie learned early on in life that you can only count on yourself. But that doesn't stop her wishing for her white knight. She's confident, happy and focused...until she meets Caleb. So how will she feel when her potential white knight turns out to be more of a black shadow?

Forgiven by Rebecca Brooke Rebecca Brooke is a new author to me. I love meeting new authors and getting to know their writing styles.  I love the premise and story that Rebecca weaves in this book. Everyone deserves a second chance. Sometimes that’s all it takes to be happy.  The college setting seems well thought out.  I enjoyed the style that Rebecca used to show us the characters.  I love the way forgiveness frees Angie and Caleb to be who they are meant to be. Great twists to add drama. Keep tissues handy.  I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 Stars.... Good read for an MC book. I read ALL the reviews. Took a chance, got excited for how the story unfolded...but ALAS, this book is a CLIFFHANGER... Kudos to the story, hopefully Book 2 comes out quickly before I loose interest. LOVETOREAD

Caleb and Angie get off to a rocky start. He can't forget his demons that are still haunting him, and Angie has a painful past. Neither of them can resist their attraction, though Caleb certainly tries. Yeah, Caleb was a jerk in the beginning, trying to protect himself and Angie. Once she gets under his skin, he only wants to protect her. Angie is sweet, and willing to forgive. She's been through hell but like she keeps saying, Bad things happen to good people. It was a great story and you should definitely read it.

This was my first book that I read from Rebecca Brooke and I can honestly say that it will not be my last! I was sucked in from the first page. Angie was a strong, independent, survivor! A great character. Caleb was awesome! Yes, a jerk at times, but what book boyfriend isn't? You won't go wrong reading this one! No cliffhanger.

I loved getting to know Caleb and Angie. Caleb and Angie are thrown together when their history professor decides to parter them for a major project. Caleb flat out refuses to work with Angie. After some convincing he finally relents. I wanted to smack Caleb. He was such an ass. But eventually he comes around and I grew to love him. I really loved his friendship with his roommate Josh. I am so looking forward to reading Josh's story and of course seeing more of Caleb and Angie Josh's book. I really liked this authors writing style. If was fast paced. I didn't feel bored with a bunch of inner dialogue like so many authors seem to fill their books with. This book was sad, yet heartwarming and sexy as hell. Looking forward to more from Rebecca Brooke in the future!

Forgiven by Rebecca Brooke is a tragic and beautiful and ultimately forgiving tale of overcoming your past and learning to move forward. Told from both Caleb and Angie's points of view, this story slowly builds your insight into their past and how it has built the people they are today. The beautiful thing about their relationship is that you also get to see how their love heals who they were. Caleb is a loner, he gets along with his roommate Josh because neither one has any desire to dig into their pasts. They each have things best left forgotten. Caleb denies his attraction to Angie for as long as possible believing he does not deserve her, but the feelings he has for her outweigh his desire to protect her from himself. Angie has dealt with emotional and verbal abuse for almost as long as she can remember so when her history professor assigns Caleb as her project partner and she gets a rude brush off from him she knows it's the last thing she needs. Well, almost the last thing, a failing grade for not working as a team on this project is the LAST thing she needs. Together they grow stronger and learn to forgive themselves for the bad things that have happened to them.

Angelina Powers didn't have what you would call a typical childhood growing up. Her mom took off when she was young and her dad turned to alcohol. She learned fast that the only person she could depend on was herself. Caleb Jacobs' life changed two years ago after a terrible tragedy. Not willing or able to forgive himself, he threw himself into school and sports. Then one day fate stepped in and brought them together. There was something about Angie that served as a constant reminder of the loss he suffered two years ago and he will try anything to avoid her. Will he succeed? Or will his feelings towards her get the better of him? Will Angie allow herself to open up and let someone in? Or will her insecurities from years of verbal abuse from her father get in the way? "Sometimes bad things happen to good people. It just means we need to learn how to forgive, and move on." I loved this book! I totally felt like I was a part of this story and found myself laughing and crying along with the characters. The characters were very well developed and the story was as well. What a great story about forgiveness and learning to move on. There were times I just wanted to smack Caleb and tell him to realize what he had. I LOVED Angie's friend Emily - what a spitfire! Caleb's friend Josh was awesome as well! Can't wait to read his story!
