Dare to Believe
Every woman struggles to believe she is who God says she is and to believe the stunning promises He whispers to her heart. But when you're a hot mess (and we all are to one degree or another), it's hard to imagine things can be different—that you can be different. Author Julie Gillies has experienced broken dreams, trauma, and plenty of drama, but she has also encountered the holy hope and promises of God. She longs to help you...
- understand your identity in Christ instead of believing "I'll always be this way"
- embrace your true significance instead of feeling less-than
- hold on to peace instead of freaking out when hard things keep happening
- grasp your God-given destiny and begin walking in it
It's not that God doesn't bless hot messes. (If that were the case, where would any of us be?) But you don't have to remain a hot mess. It's time to receive and experience God's hope and promises in a fresh way!

"From Hot Mess to Blessed" lets me know that my hot messes aren't the end of the equation. The author shares her own hot messes in a raw and vulnerable way, and then delivers hope soundly and non-religiously into the spirit of believing women. She handles Christian truth with ease and finesse, offering a collection of scriptural promises to the hot mess in all of us. "I will make you whole," "I will give you love," "You are brave," "You are significant" are just a few of the promises and messages shared alongside true stories of the authors on history of hot messes. Excellent read, fantastic promises, well done.
I loved From Hot Mess to Blessed! It was a wonderful and encouraging read. In her book, Julie shares many inspirational stories from her live and her walk with Christ. In a compelling style, she inspires the reader to trust in God and how to take difficult circumstances with contentment and the desire to grow and learn from them. At the end of each chapter there is a personal proclamation meant to strengthen and encourage the reader. I would recommend the book to everyone who's looking for inspiration and encouragment. If you're wondering how you can feel less of a mess and more like a peaceful and content woman, this book is for you!
Disclosure: I got a copy of this book for free in exchange for a review. I got the better end of the deal. When I read the book, I felt like I’m having a conversation over a cup of coffee with Julie. She isn’t preachy, and she isn’t trying to turn everything into sunshine and rainbows. That’s why her book had such an impact on me. She used her own personal experiences to show you that she wasn’t kidding about “hot mess”, and that just made her more relatable. I was part way through the book when I realized she had study questions in the back, and my first thought was that I would look them over when I re-read the book. And I will re-read this book because she shares so much kindness and love in her words.
Through our many life experiences, we have the opportunity to learn to trust God and rely on Him. In this book, the author shares personal life stories and ways to handle stressful situations. Remembering our identity is in Christ is important to daily living. We can recognize our blessings each day. I received a copy of this book from the author and publisher and this is my personal honest opinion.
