Overview

Gaba Kawa by Rie Takada

Demons like Rara are supposed to cause mischief in the mortal world and draw humans to darkness. They're not supposed to help mortals and they're definitely not supposed to fall in love with them! But that's just what happens when Rara enters high school, where a hot guy named Retsu Aku calls her "Gaba Kawa"!

But that's just what happens when Rara enters high school, where a hot guy named Retsu Aku calls her "Gaba Kawa"!While demons gain power by causing mischief, the opposite is also true—if Rara uses any of her powers to help mortals, she'll immediately lose that very power. If she loses enough power, she'll disappear! Poor Rara. What's a "Gaba Kawa" demon to do?

I have read Gaba Kawa in Shojo Beat magazine April 2008 - August 2008. It was very similar to the Recipe for Gertrude. I thought Rara was very upbeat and Aku was just a typical shojo male, swooning for Rara. I loved the part near the end though. I believe the ending could have encourage another volume to be made, but that's just my opinion.

i bought shojo beat to get me started on reading manga and i came across a chapter of this book and fell in love w/ everything about it. i got so addicted to it that i started reading it online to find out what happened next. i was so crazed that there were only 8 chapters, but i got over it quickly. i even got teary eyed when finishing it. it is such a good manga for people who like adventure, romantic, comedy, mangas based all around school. to be honest it actually got me into reading more and now im addicted to manga's and other good books too. =)

Single-manga stories have always been among my favorites - not to say that longer ones can't be just as good, just that a person can become attached even after a short time when it comes to these one-shots. The story is kind of jumpy and seems to lose focus at times, but after the first chapter or so, you completely fall in love with the characters and storyline. The art is beautiful, and the ending... well, you'll just have to read it to find out!
