About the Author

As a child, Kris took down a pack of hungry wolves with only a hardcover copy of "The Dragonriders of Pern" and a sharpened toothbrush. That fateful day set her on a path traversing many storytelling worlds-dabbles in film and comic books, time as a talent agent and a textbook photo coordinator, and a foray into nonfiction. After co-authoring "Mind Shapes: Understanding the Differences in Thinking and Communication," Kris returned to academia. But she craved narrative and a richly-textured world of Fates, Shifters, and Dragons-and unexpected, true love.

Kris lives in Minnesota with her husband, two daughters, Handsome Cat, and an entire menagerie of suburban wildlife bent on destroying her house. That battered-but-true copy of "Dragonriders"? She found it yesterday. It's time to pay a visit to the woodpeckers.

I couldn't put it down! I should have waited for the weekend to start this book! I could not put it down for all the intermingling details to build the story and the non-stop storyline. I loved the main character Rysa, the book followed her ADD thoughts and put you in her head. I'm re-reading it just to get all the details put into place now that I know the whole storyline on this first book. There is defiantly some great romance sections with plenty of action and lots to think about. I can't wait for the next book! There is defiantly some unexpected twists and outstanding detail portrayed. I was able to place my imagination next to Rysa and see what she sees, the details of the surroundings, feelings, and chaos. Not hard to put some great imagery to Ladon-human either! Nummy! If you like Fates, dragons, plots, and romance then you found the right book.

I am really surprised how many like this book! What a challenge to read. I'm on page 150 and it's hard to keep reading! I get lost in all the wierdness that makes no sense.

I'm a huge fan of paranormal and fantasy, especially when it has some hot romance it, and this book delivers. I loved that Rysa is a flawed character fighting to overcome her own challenges of ADD when her life is turned upside down by magic and destiny and Fate! The ghouls--Burners--are frightening characters who threaten to tear the world apart with fire. I especially enjoyed the budding romance between Rysa and Ladon and the Dragon, who is a unique and fun character. Perhaps my favorite part of this read was the beautiful writing style of this author. Her debut novel shows immense talent and incredible prose, and I can't wait to read more books from her. I'm ready for book 2!

I normally can read anything scifi but this was a chore to read. After 120+ pages I could care less for the characters. Had to put this one down after 130 pages or so.

Rysa Torres is your average college student, or at least she thinks she is. She suffers from ADD and requires tutoring from her best friend Gavin to get by. Little did she know, her entire world is about to change forever. She is destined to become a Fate, and it has been activated, how will she learn to control it when she can't even focus on a simple task. Will Ladon, his Dragon companion, Marcus and Harold be able to help her control the chaos in her head? Will Ladon be successful at keeping her safe from the Burners? I love, love, love dragon stories and this one is awesome! This book was nonstop action from the very beginning. The chemistry between Rysa and Ladon is incredibly intense. Rysa is a lovable main character, even when she had no idea what was going on, she told Gavin to run and she then took on the Burners on her own, not knowing if someone would come to her aid. This is a fantastic first book in the series, and I can't wait to read the next one.

As an author, Radcliffe is very good at laying things out in a manner that makes them clear to the reader while simultaneously keeping them captivation. These things are all brought to light in a very fluid storyline that captivates the reader from page one right to the very end. I also appreciate that this is a complete novel in and of itself. Although there is a prequel and there will be future instalments in the series this story begins and ends with itself, with a great deal of potential for future adventures. There are some very unique supernatural elements in this story. I appreciate that this is a story about the fates with a big twist and that it is not based on Greek mythology. All of the history and mythology for this story is clearly laid out, bit by bit, within the novel itself allowing the reader to immerse themselves into the culture. The characters are loveable and approachable. Radcliffe develops them slowly as more details are required, but they are none the less very well developed. Each of the major characters has a complete backstory that explains why they are who they are today. It also helps the reader figure out the intriguing plot twists that come about. This was a phenomenal tale that draws the reader in and doesn’t let go. Radcliffe incorporates action segments, heartfelt segments, and comedic segments that are wound together into an awesome story that keeps the reader entranced without relying on perpetual suspense.  Please note that I received this novel from the author in exchange for an honest review

Do you know anyone with ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) who doesn’t take medication? It’s exhausting to be around them. Now imagine that 100 times worse than you have ever seen it before. Throw in burners (think zombies whose blood can cause metal to explode, and who can burn with a touch), a sexy immortal warrior, a dragon who can turn invisible, and one really confused girl and wahlaa a story to read. Of course the devil is in the details, and this book is full of wonderful details. You just have to read it as there is simply too much to put down here. I give this book 4 out of 5 clouds. 2.5 Stars **ARC RECEIVED IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW** This must have been the most confusing and unclear book I've read in a long time! Honestly it reads like it's supposed to be a second, maybe third book in a series, not the first. The author is not really clear on what's happening, she just keeps going on and on with the story. Activation, seers, talismans? What does all of this mean? Ideally I know what each word means but in this book, no clue! It's not until almost the end that it's a bit understandable but you still have to contend with about two hundred pages of loads of confusion. It's also confusing when Ladon or Rysa are either reliving their past memories or are still in the present, as one minute they are talking about seeing her seers, whatever those are, and the next either he's talking about one of his past experiences or Rysa is talking about her childhood. It's not until they are well into the tale that we realize, 'oh they are reliving something from the past!" Sighs, despite all the confusion I felt reading this book, the parts that were clear were pretty good. It had lots of action, strange characters and two dragons who must be the size of small children as they seem to fit through regular sized doors and other small spaces, plus they don't fly...that's just weird but again no explanation. I think I would have enjoyed this so much more had the author thoroughly explained what exactly was happening and not just expected the reader to understand her terminology when used in these specific contexts. I really enjoyed this book. It was fast pace and lots of twists and turns. I also liked the fact that the main character had ADHD.
