A reformed trial lawyer from North Carolina, Sawyer uses real-life experience to create relatable, sexy stories that appeal to a wide array of readers. From new adult to contemporary romance, she writes something for just about everyone.
Sawyer likes her Bloody Marys strong, her martinis dirty, and her heroes a combination of the two. She believes in the good of others and that a bad day can be cured with a great workout, cake, or even better, both.
Sawyer also writes general and women’s fiction under the pen name S. Bennett and sweet romance under the name Juliette Poe.

Olivia gives a tiny laugh of amusement and lays her hand on my arm. She squeezes me gently . . . almost sympathetically. “No offense, Garrett . . . but you have sort of a reputation as a playboy. You’re dangerous.”
Ouch. That hurt.

Not my feelings, but my chances with her. I’m getting close to striking out completely, and that isn’t something that happens to me.

I take a sip of beer and then lower my cup, giving her my most devilish, charming smile. “A playboy, huh? So what exactly have you heard about me? I need to be able to set the record straight with you.”

She circles one finger over the rim of her wineglass as she drops her eyes from mine. “Oh, you know. Just that you never go out with the same woman more than once. That you’re a player.”

I snort, not because that’s untrue.

It’s so true . . . almost. “I’ll have to take exception to that. I’ve gone out with a woman more than once.”

She cocks her eyebrow at me in skepticism. “Oh, yeah? Do tell.”

“Well . . . I went out with one woman at least three times that I recall,” I tell her with my lips curved upward in a smarmy grin. No need to tell her it took me three dates to get in that woman’s pants because the first two dates were cut short since she was a doctor and got called to the hospital.

“Oh, wow.” She gasps in false amazement with both eyebrows rising high. “Three whole times. That’s incredible.”
I give her a smug look. “See . . . I have layers that you can’t even dream of.”

Olivia gives me another jovial laugh, from deep within her belly, and I’m glad that at least I’m amusing her. I’m perilously close to bombing out, but at least I got a gorgeous smile on her face for the time being.

“You’re hilarious, Garrett,” she says, as her laugh winds down into the cutest chuckles. “Seriously . . . you crack me up.”

“Which is why you should totally go out with me,” I assert quickly. “At least I’ll have you laughing.”

And in my bed before the night is out, I hope to myself, because that is my main intent right now. But hell, even if it took a few dates to get her there, I’m thinking this bright, funny, and totally hot woman would be worth the extra effort.

“Hmmm,” she says thoughtfully as she eyes me up and down. “While you are very tempting, in this rough, good-looking sort of way, I think I’m still going to say no. I’m just not much into dating.”

“Okay,” I tell her in capitulation as I raise my arms out to my sides. “You got me. No dating. How about we just have one night together of incredible, explosive passion? Something to put a satisfied smile on our faces and then we both go our own ways.”

Olivia grins at me, and I’m glad to note I haven’t offended her, because that was a serious offer I was making.

“You’re that good, huh?”

“Only one way to find out,” I say as I wink at her.

“Jesus, Garrett,” I hear from behind me, and I start smiling before I even turn to face the newcomer. “Can you go five minutes without hitting on a woman?”

I glance at Olivia briefly before I turn to face Alex. Her smile is still amused, and I hope she keeps it there and lets me pick back up where I left off.

“Dude . . . where have you been?” I ask Alex. We give each other a quick fist bump and then I lean over to hug Sutton, who is standing beside him with her hand linked in his.

“We’ve been walking around looking for you,” Sutton says, and then she glances at Olivia. “And I see you’ve wasted no time in making a move on my cousin.”

I jerk slightly and turn to look at Olivia. Her eyes are twinkling with merriment. Turning back to Sutton, I ask lamely, “Your cousin?”

“Yup. Olivia’s mom, Maryana, is Jim-Dad’s sister.” Jim is a cool guy. He’s Sutton’s stepdad, who basically rescued her and her mother, Penny, from a women’s shelter years ago.

Okay, I’m so busted by Sutton, who caught me shamelessly ogling and hitting on a family member, but I decide to own it. “How come I never knew you had a cousin that was so freaking gorgeous? How did you keep that hidden from me?”

Sutton laughs and punches me on the shoulder, kind of hard, and I rub at my muscle as I wince.

“I kept her hidden with hard work and dedication. I didn’t want her falling prey to the likes of you.”

Ouch . . . that kind of hurt too. And now I’ve got a sneaking suspicion where Olivia has heard all about my playboy ways. Sutton has stood alongside Alex over the past several months and watched me burn through women like a wildfire burns across a dry forest. I’ve even gone out on double dates with them, and at the end of the evening, when my date would shake hands with Alex and Sutton, and say with such hope and yearning, “This was lovely. I can’t wait until we can do it again,” I would never fail to miss the roll of Sutton’s eyes because she knew damn well that there would never be a second date.

Angling my head to look at Olivia, she returns my stare with the same light and cheerful smile that was on her face a moment ago. She’s enjoying me getting my chops busted by Sutton.

“Well, it’s your fault you left her here unattended,” I assert as I tweak Sutton’s chin. “She was just ripe for the taking.”

“Except there was no taking,” Olivia chimes in. “He put forth a good effort, but alas . . . I held my own.”

Alex starts snickering, and I know that I have officially struck out with Olivia. Oh, well. It’s not like there won’t be someone else on my near horizon.

“Okay, Sutton . . . why don’t you and Olivia go away then and let me and Alex have some man-talk,” I say as I make a shooing motion with my hands.

Sutton bumps Olivia on the shoulder and leans in to whisper loudly to her, just for my benefit, “That’s code to mean Garrett has a dirty joke he wants to tell Alex.”

I start to open my mouth to object, because I’m about so much more than dirty jokes . . . even if that is exactly why I was shooing them away, but then Olivia pipes up, “I love dirty jokes. I want to hear it.”

Dang . . . gorgeous and she loves dirty jokes. I’m seriously bummed she won’t go out with me, because if she loves filthy humor, she certainly wouldn’t mind my filthy mouth in the bedroom.

I open my mouth to start to tell my joke, when a phone starts ringing. Olivia reaches into the pocket of her long skirt and pulls out an iPhone that has a bright, tie-dyed case. Lifting a finger, she says, “I’m sorry. I need to take this.”

She steps a few feet away and I hear her answer with a murmured “Hello.”

My eyes are pinned to her for just a moment, then Sutton is slapping at my arm, causing my gaze to jerk back to hers. “Stay away from her,” she hisses, in sort of a teasing way, but there is seriousness there as well.

I look at Alex in surprise. “Are you seriously going to let your woman abuse me like this?”

He shrugs nonchalantly. “Hey man . . . she’s the boss.”

I give him a mock glare. “You’re so whipped.”

He just gives me a cheesy grin as he pulls Sutton in tight to him and nuzzles the top of her head. “Happily.”

“I’m serious,” Sutton says, her voice now warm and her eyes slightly apologetic about the hammer she’s laying down on me. “She’s got a lot on her plate right now and doesn’t need your type of complication.”

Well, hell . . . that makes me feel like crap. I start to ask what exactly Olivia has on her plate that can’t be made better by some amazing sex, but then Olivia is stepping back up to our circle. Looking directly at Sutton, she says, “I was able to get that early-morning appointment, so I’m going to have to head out.”

Sutton gives her a tiny smile and some type of understanding passes between them. Olivia then turns to me and holds her hand out. “It was great meeting you, Garrett. I love how you made me laugh.”

I reach out almost stupidly to take her hand, and I relish briefly its warm softness as she says goodbye. “It was nice meeting you too.”

“Come on,” Sutton says as she steps forward and drapes her arm companionably around Olivia’s shoulders. “I’ll walk you to your car.”

I watch as the two cousins walk back up toward the house, their heads bent in toward each other as Sutton squeezes Olivia gently. Then they’re gone and my mind drifts back to the dirty joke I wanted to tell Alex.

I really enjoyed most of this book. It was hard to believe the quick turn around in Garrett however, and I wish there was a little more character development there. Also, the end was so abrupt until I turned the page to the Epilogue. It was so wham. bam. done. But I guess like the rest of the story it flowed a little too easily so why not finish up just as easy. I haven't read Alex and plan to. I did like the premise and it was well written, just wish there was *more*.

First off, I want to say that Sawyer Bennett is an incredibly talented author. I really enjoyed ALEX, the first book in the series, and I was really looking forward to reading GARRETT. Unfortunately, I found it difficult to get into. Garrett has a reputation for being a hardcore ladies’ man. When he meets Olivia and finds out about her illness, he becomes this faithful, upstanding and reliable person. I found it hard to believe that Garrett would change his stripes so fast for a woman he barely knows. I also didn’t care too much for Olivia. I can’t put my finger on what it was but nothing she said or did ever won me over.  I think fans of the series will enjoy GARRETT but his story just wasn’t for me. ***I was gifted an eBook copy from the publisher via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. All conclusions reached are my own.

Sawyer Bennet can do no wrong in my eyes. She’s a fantastic author who I hope will never stop writing. (I can dream!) Garret just proved why I love her so much. This book was filled with such a reality and intensity and for a few hours I laughed, cried, lived with these characters.  Garrett is a player and I don’t mean hockey player. His reputation precedes him. He has a great personality that attracts the ladies and that broke down the distant Alex in the previous book of the series. However, he doesn't want that reputation any more. At a party, he meets Olivia, Sutton’s cousins and can’t stop thinking about her. However, Alex and Sutton won’t let him date him because they don’t want him to love her and leave her.  Garret. sigh. What can I say of Garrett? He’s male perfection. Completely and fully. Can I please have a Garret in my life…like yesterday?! He stole my heart. He was such a charismatic and truthful guy. He has to make some pretty important decisions in the beginning of the novel but handles them like the man he is.I can’t imagine being in his position and trying to handle the situation better than what he did.  Olivia is a force to reckon with. She’s a character full of life and is in a place in her life she never imagined she would be. Her personality is one of her best qualities. She thinks of others before she worries about herself. She’s embraces everything and everyone around her with such ferocity despite the negativity.  I adore this book and have read it a couple of times now. I’m a huge hockey fan so this book is perfect for me. However, you don’t need to know about hockey to enjoy it.  Every person should give this book a shot. It can be read as a standalone novel. It’s a story not told everyday, but a reality many face. Sawyer did an awesome job with this book and can’t wait to get my hands on the other one!

Depressing.  Didn't feel any connection between G/O.  Seemed to go right to committed relationship, then both very immature at the end.  I liked Alex, but not Garret.  Based on this book, I won't read the next.

Good read. Steamy romance scenes, relationship drama, and a happy ending. It took a while to get used to the writing style in the first person for the characters...different from the norm I'm used to.

This is the second book in the Cold Fury Hockey series with Garrett Samuelson, the man-whore of the team. One night stands are his thing and he rarely goes on a second date. When he see Olivia Case, he is drawn to her beauty and yes he wants her in his bed. When she tells him no, he can't believe it. No one has ever told him no, that he can remember. He convinces her to go out with him and she gives in, what could it hurt, it would only be one night. While Olivia is keeping a secret, Garrett finds himself in unfamiliar territory. He wants to spent time with her and not just in the bedroom. Can he do the relationship thing with Olivia? Will Olivia's secret tear them apart? Will Garrett run for the hills when he learns her secret? This is a great story and I loved it as much as the first. Sawyer Bennett has done her research to give us an accurate story-line. Who doesn't love a sexy, well-built hockey player? Can't wait to read the next one, Zack's situation in this book broke my heart and hopefully he will get his happily ever after in the next book. **Copy provided by the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review**

I enjoyed this book so much I read it twice. What a heart warming story about real life challenges. The story talks about dealing with unexpected love, loyality, sickness, death and having the faith and courage to believe that in the end all good things are possible. Although this book can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading "Alex" first. Both books are great reads. I have already pre-ordered the next book in the series.

This book had me hooked. I loved the story and it was heartwarming to see the transformation of the characters. Oliva and Garrett's story was sexy but realistic. I highly reccomend!

What took me so long to get to this one? I finally decided to listen to the audio version and LOVED it. Garrett is a renowned ladies man and rarely has more than a one night stand but then he meets Olivia and he is down for the count. What he doesn't know is she has just been diagnosed with cancer and is going to start treatment. Even though Olivia has been warned about Garrett she decides she needs something to make her feel alive and goes on a date with him. That seals his fate and he comes back for more and more and soon he figures out what is going on. Who would have thought Garrett would fall but when he does he falls hard. These two are perfect for each other! Definitely can be read as a standalone but now that I'm finally catching up on the beginning of this series (already read Alex and the last books of this series) I recommend all of them!

I thought the story was emotional and well done. The author pulled me in from page one and I didn't stop reading until I'd finished the book.

I really enjoyed this book until the last 50 or so pages. I felt that the ending could have used some more development. Overall, good book.

Wow. This was super emotional. I mean, from the synopsis I knew it would be but I felt this one deep. It was so incredible well written. Wonderful story! This story broke me a little and I might have cried but it also filled me up and gave me hope. I found it to be a beautiful story of two people coming together in a very difficult time. Growing, opening up and trusting, and just falling in love. Garrett was awesome. Watching this man come onto his own totally had me swooning. I loved him so much. I was melting at all his sweet, kind gestures and watching him fall for Olivia. There was just so many special moments throughout with him that truly touched me. Olivia was so strong and determined, battling something serious. It seemed to be such an epically bad time to start a relationship but that's one of the things that made this so spectacular. I loved Garrett and Olivia togher, their playfulness and chemistry. Their ease with one another. Their openness and caring. I loved the development of their relationship as things unfolded. It was like the world melted away while I was reading. This is really deep and packed full of emotion. Awesome writing and descriptions. Fantastic details. There is an amazing build happening and I am so pulled in. I loved the male bonding that Garrett had going on with Alex and Olivia's relationship with Sutton. I loved Olivia's friend Stevie and was thankful for some of his comic relief because it was needed. It's a serious subject matter but I thought the author did a beautiful job sharing Olivia's story and the battling she was facing. Besides Olivia and all she's going though, there is Garrett falling hard and I loved his transformation. That man is swoon worthy and him being all in made me melt. Simply amazing. So emotional but so worth the wonderful journey. I can’t say enough good things!

Garrett's story is my favorite in this series. All of Cold Fury is sexy and relatable but I have never read anything with a new relationship starting out with such a struggle. And I enjoyed it. And it was still sexy. Good Job

Another story like the first in the series that made me laugh and made me cry. Ms Bennet writes about real life and Sawyer and Oliva's story was sweet and hard to put down. I like that she put the epilogue in for forty years in the future. I very much enjoyed reading this and am going to read Zack's story next. His looks to be heartbreaking but promising.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series. I wanted to like this one, but the plot felt rushed at the beginning and the drama at the end felt forced. Hoping next one is better.

I actually had a hard time getting into this one - I’d make it a few chapters and then put it down to try again. I did that a couple of times and then when I saw that Zack’s story was coming out, and I REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted to read it, I knew I had to try again. Apparently the third time’s the charm because not only did I finish it but I actually enjoyed it quite a lot. I think there were a couple of issues for me my first few times – I could see where their problems were going to be a mile away plus, I wasn’t all that big a fan of Garrett. I thought after Alex that I’d love him but he comes across not so much like a modern day rake (which I love) and more of just a manwhore. Once I got to know him a little better though I actually liked him a lot. And even though I knew where things were going to go wrong I decided to try to just sit back and enjoy the ride. It’s a little bit of a secret (but not one that is hidden very long) - Olivia’s issue is that she has been fighting cancer and she’s about to fight it again. When she meets flirtatious and oh-so-sexy Garrett she decides to take the chance to enjoy some fun sex with the hottie hockey player. Only it turns into something a little more serious. So of course her health issues become the huge trouble spot for the two. Mixed in with how unappealing I found Garrett at the beginning and I just wasn’t sure I wanted to face that, but he quickly changed my mind and I loved the dedicated boyfriend he became. Bennett is a great story teller and her characters are complex with deep issues, so once I got started I quickly found myself drawn into their story. The ending was a little difficult to read because both of them needed a good smack but it just made their HEA all the better. (Complimentary copy provided in exchange for an honest review)

Another hit by Sawyer Bennett. Seeing Garrett grow from the ultimate playboy you get a glimpse of in Alex and in the beginning of this book, to the man who falls in love - it makes for a great story. Garrett has enough trouble with the fact he is only wanting one woman but add in that she has cancer, and he really doesn't know what to do. But the scene where he goes to her treatment, man, it will melt your heart. Love this book, every single thing about it!
