About the Author

Geoffrey L. Berman is vice president of Development Specialists Inc. in Los Angeles, where he has more than 30 years of experience in the extension of secured and unsecured credit and the liquidation of numerous businesses. He also has expertise in all types of insolvency case administrations with a specialty in the area of general assignments for the benefit of creditors and creditor/liquidating trusts under chapter 11 reorganization plans. Mr. Berman is certified as a mediator and is on the bankruptcy mediation panel for the Central District of California and the District of Delaware. He has also served as a federal court receiver. He is a current ABI Director and a past chair of its Task Force on General Assignments. Mr. Berman is currently serving as an executive editor of the ABI Journal, and previously served as a contributing editor to its Last in Line column. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of the Pacific and his J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law.
