“What did I do to deserve you?” she asked. I grinned and tucked a stray piece of hair behind her ear. “I think you’ve got it all wrong.” “Oh yeah?” she asked. I nodded. “Yeah, it’s not what you did to deserve me. It’s what I did to deserve you.” There’s always something about Lani Lynn Vale’s stories that just click with me. It’s not that they’re always my favorite stories or the ones I gush and gush about, but I always, always remember these stories and go back to them. In fact, I totally just binge-read Heroes of Dixie Warden MC, Dixie Warden Rejects MC, and Code 11-KPD SWAT, Kilgore Fire, Hail Raisers, and Uncertain Saints MC over my spring break! This story just gave me all the more reason to keep loving her writing. It’s the characters that draw me in. They’re always flawed, make multiple mistakes, and in general just keep messing up. Sounds appealing, right? No, it sounds REAL. Beneath all these “flaws,” these characters have experienced life in a way that it has affected them for the future and it takes someone unique to break through and keep their heart safe. THESE are the stories I love to read. This story gives us two characters who don’t seem meant for each other in any way — one that has been rejected by the town and another who can’t quite find their place in the community. Their first meeting is not a pleasant one, their second connection is not exactly pleasant, so why the heck would they see anything in each other? I loved getting to know these two and I also truly enjoyed their story! Recommended!
Ok, so I know I’ve said this every time I read a new book in the Simple Man series but you can’t hold it against me. They just keep getting better! It’s really not my fault. At all. I can’t control the fact Lani writes with some sort of sorcery that creates amazing books every time. So, if you think about it the fact I’m going to say this again is entirely her fault. THIS IS MY FAVORITE BOOK! There. I said it. It’s true. I regret nothing. NOTHING! See, I was was quadruple the amount excited I normal am (which is A LOT, just sayin’) for this because my all time favorite Lani Lynn Vale book has always been Sebastian’s. Obviously this being Johnny I had expectations. Very, very, high expectations. Like “Boy, you better live up to your daddy!” level ones. Lani did not disappoint. Sebastian who? Johnny is king now. I floved this! Johnny has grown into a man very much like his father. Strong and a bit hard, but having an amazing heart and loving his woman with every bit of it even when she’s dishing all the sass. The way he is with June, *dreamy sigh* there are not enough words for it. Just perfection. The gentle care mixed in with the ever present alpha bada*$ had me melting. There couldn’t have been a better woman for him than June. Right down to her name, she was everything he needed and more. The life she lived and the things she endured from everyone around her only served to make her an even more amazing woman every time she stood strong and kept going. Epic love, hilarious moments, and the perfect bit of suspense to have you glued even more to the pages. Get You Some is phenomenal!
I really like the way that Lani Lynn Vale spins a tale … and she has spun a good one in GET YOU SOME! Johnny was a child in one of the first books that I read by LLV, and I remember him popping up through the books here and there. But boy did he break the mold in this one. I thought Silas was one of my favorite characters, but I think that Johnny just knocked him off his pedestal. What is great about Johnny’s character? He is so freaking sweet! Yes, he can be a badass, and shows it quite a bit in this story. But he is so freaking sweet with June. He doesn’t have the history of the town so he doesn’t automatically assume that she is like her parents the way the other town members have. He sees her for who she is … a woman that has been knocked down and kicked in the teeth by life a couple of times. And when it comes time to claim what is his, he definitely doesn’t waste any time. But with all LLV books, there is some drama that peppers the pages of the story, and this one definitely has it in the form of an ex and parents that need a good throat punch! Poor June is treated like crap by most people in the town, which irritated me greatly. But she lands in a good place with a good boss who watches her back (and I can say that I am REALLY looking forward to Coke’s book!) and she has a man that listens to her and takes her as she is. I really liked the interactions between all of the characters, but have to admit that one of my favorite parts was when Silas came into the story. I have always had a soft spot for him, but was semi disappointed that there wasn’t more of Sawyer or their child. Overall, great book! There is drama, passion, danger, and revelations. Now I am (not so patiently) waiting for the next book in the series! eARC through Enticing Journey Book Promotions
I don’t know if the book was quite short or if I just couldn’t stop reading it but it was fab Johnny is an marine vet with PTSD. He decides to leave his parents house to avoid their overwhelming and stifling care. Running to the town of Hostel. June is trash, well according to the residents of Hostel. Johnny doesn’t agree and sets about proving her worth and perhaps in the meantime proving his own.
Johnny captured our hearts as a child in Sebastian & Baylee's book, Lights to My Siren. Now, we have his HEA! Following a stint in the Army, from which he is sent home with an injury, Johnny is having some trouble finding his place. He is being smothered by his well meaning family. Just as it seems to be getting to be too much for him, a friend suggests that he makes a break for it, and move to her town, of Hostel, TX. He gets a job as a Police Officer in this small town. Then he meets her. The June to his Johnny! June is a girl from the wrong side of the tracks. Her childhood was horrible, the only bright spot being her grandfather. Her parents are of the worst kind, and their reputation follows her around town. Everyone thinks the worst of her, even if she did nothing to earn it. These two are so great together. Despite all of the problems that they face, there doesn't seem to be any going back for them. This story brings back some of our favorites from previous books, and has lots of twists and turns that I never saw coming! This is just another fabulous book by Lani Lynn Vale. I'm totally loving the kids stories, and just know they are going to keep getting better!
