Cold days. Steamy nights. It must be the holidays in the Highlands.

When an American ex-Marine falls for a Scottish lass, the sparks are explosive. But Gavin Douglas botches his proposal, leaving Jamie MacTaggart hurt and angry. So she makes a different offer: sizzling sex with no strings and no intimacy. He'll do anything to get her back, even accept her crazy proposition, because he hasn't traveled halfway around the world to give up without a fight.

Five years ago, Jamie gave up her family and her beloved homeland to satisfy a man, only to wind up humiliated and alone. She vowed never to repeat that mistake. When Gavin offers her a credit card instead of a ring, after eighteen months of intercontinental romance, she fears he's just like the man who hurt her before. After all, Gavin doesn't get along with her brothers...

From Halloween to Christmas, Gavin will do whatever it takes to win back Jamie — and somehow earn the approval of her overprotective brothers. Regaining Jamie's trust is hard, but winning over her stern brother Rory may prove the hardest task of all. As the two men engage in a battle of wills and muscles, Gavin must defeat his inner demons and Jamie's ex-fiancé or risk losing everything.

3.5stars This is my first book from the series. This is a stand-alone story and another member from Scottish family finds her soul mate in American. Gavin and Jamie's story starts with brake up. Gavin stays in Scottland to get himself together and he gets help the family that he was not on a great foot. In the time he is working on himself and trying to get Jamie back she is the one to insist only on a physical relationship. Through the book they both come to new personal experience, get in confidence and falling even more madly in love in eachother. What bothered me in this book was POV from others, for me it was completely unnecessary, and second was too much to everyone's bed activities. A good book doesn't need them all the time to be on each other. It was great to see so tight family dynamic and how they helped both Gavin and Jamie in different ways. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly

I enjoyed this well-written, sexy, fun contemporary romance. Jamie and Gavin are crazy about each other, but he can't propose to her. She's hurt but not willing to give up. He doesn't want to lose her and needs to figure out how to win her back. This was an entertaining book and I look forward to reading more books by this author.

Gift-Wrapped in a Kilt is book four in the Hot Scots series by Anna Durand. This is my first book by Anna but surprisingly enough, I already have at lease a couple of the previous books in this series. I just haven’t read them yet. But when I saw she added a Christmas book to the series, I had to read it now. These really can be read as stand alones. It took me just a bit in the beginning to make sure I knew who went with whom. But once I got that figured out, I was good to go. Jamie MacTaggart is the youngest of the MacTaggart clan in Scotland. Her three older brothers are very over protective of her. Jamie first met Gavin a year and a half ago. He is the older brother of her sister-in-law. The connection was immediate and they began an inter-continental romance, flying back and forth between America and Scotland. It hasn’t been easy but they love each other. Gavin has seemed off lately and said he has something important to ask her. So when he hands her a credit card instead of a ring, a credit card she doesn’t need, she’s through. It’s been eighteen months and she’s tired of waiting for him to figure out what he wants. Gavin Douglas loves Jamie so much. So why couldn’t he take the ring out of his pocket? Gavin is an ex-marine. After he came home his life has changed in so many ways. He lost his parents, his little sister married a Scott and moved away. His wife divorced him. And now he’s lost his job. Even Jamie’s three brothers can’t stand him. He pretty much doesn’t like himself these days. Jamie fell in love with a confident, strong man and he’s not that man anymore. Emery and Rory, who were featured in the previous book in the series, are blissfully happy. They can easily see that Gavin and Jamie belong together but have some issues to work through before they can make things work. So they conspire to do a little meddling. Although, Emery’s style of meddling is a little different than her husbands. “Had she ever told Gavin how much he meant to her? She’d declared they had no future unless he got along with her brothers. Why had she said that?” Jamie also has some things holding her back. First she was hurt deeply in a previous relationship and the scars haven’t completely healed. She might also rely a little too much on her brothers. “He thought he was a coward, but she was the one too afraid to speak up. About her feelings for him. About her desire to be with him, no matter what. About her brothers.” This book takes place starting shortly before Halloween and runs through both Thanksgiving and Christmas. First, the MacTaggart men are seriously hot. Thus, the name of the series, Hot Scots. The sexy times between Jamie and Gavin definitely heat up the pages. I got a little annoyed at times with all the procrastinating and the silly games Jamie played with Gavin. Even after they re-committed to each other and admitted how much they needed to talk to each other about their past hurts and their fears, weeks would go by before they would do so. Still, they were so cute together. I also enjoyed getting to know the rest of the family and look forward to going back and reading the previous books. This was a light hearted, sweet, sexy holiday book and I did enjoy it. As I said, I need to go back and start at the beginning. But, I also look forward to the next book in the series, Iain MacTaggart’s story in Notorious in a Kilt.

Hot Scot #4 is the story of Jamie and Gavin. Jamie is the sister of Hot Scots Lachlan, Aiden and Rory (books #1-3). Gavin is Calli’s brother who is married to Aiden. The story is alternately told by Emery (wife of Rory), Jamie and Gavin. It starts just before Halloween and ends at Christmas (epilogue just after Valentines day), so the title is perfect. Gavin struggles with issues from his past but is really deeply in love with Jamie. Jamie has her own problems (like an ex from the past, Trevor, suddenly appearing on a Halloween party) but is also very much in love with Gavin. Throughout the story their love is almost palpable but they each have to overcome their obstacles/issues. And Gavin has to win over the Three Macs as well. There is a lot going on in this book and I loved it as much as the others. It is a standalone but it is so much more fun to read the previous books as well. You won’t be disappointed! I am so looking forward to Hot Scot #5!! I received a free copy of this book from the author and this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

Is Gavin an honorary Hot Scot or the newest member of the American Wives Club? Gavin's sister is one the three American Wives of the MacTaggart brothers, which led to Gavin falling in love with the youngest MacTaggart sister, Jamie. We've watched them peripherally throughout the past two books in this series, but now their across-the-pond romance has finally reached the do-or-die stage. As much as he loves Jamie, Gavin just isn't sure if he's ready for the next step, or if her family is ready to accept him. Both Jamie and Gavin have glossed over the deeper emotional intimacies in their relationship, but now those secret hurts and insecurities must be dealt with before they're ready for their HEA. This story follows that process, with all its painfully honest lows and triumphant, sexy highs. Gavin doesn't just have to win over Jamie's heart, he also must make peace with each of her three brothers, including the one Gavin believes hates him too much to ever give his blessing. Set in the MacTaggarts' neighborhood in Scotland, this book is a real treat for us Americans to read, almost like a virtual, literary trip to Scotland in our heads. The Highland Games was truly the highlight of the book, with the American-style Thanksgiving dinner a close second. Gavin proves he's every bit as swoon-worthy as his brothers-in-law, and Jamie really comes into her own as she figures out what she must do to make things right with him. I laughed, I swooned, and I enjoyed every single moment of this book. It's a wonderful treat, and has a permanent spot on my to-read-again shelf. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
