Beyond being a loving and nurturing father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, Arthur Zaccaria was one of those brave men that enlisted in the service soon before the horrid carnage of the strife formally reached our shores. Among his many attributes, my grandfather was an amazing storyteller; the type that could transport you to specific dates and locations by painting a word picture so exquisite you would swear you could smell the smells of the places and hear the voices of the characters.

After telling these stories so many times in his life, he decided to put pen to paper and construct his memoirs over the course of the several years that would ultimately be his last among the living.
