Overview

Glitter and Grit by Lili Valente, Jessie Evans

This ride is going to last a lot longer than eight seconds...

Female professional bull rider, Reece Hearst, graduated from the school of hard knocks. With honors. Because life is like bull riding--when it sends you to the dirt, you do whatever it takes to get on your feet, even if you have to crawl. After a rough senior year, she fixed Lonesome Point in her rearview, joined the pro circuit, and never looked back. But now a serious injury threatens to end her career and she's back in Lonesome Point, living next door to the family that made her life a living hell.

After multiple tours of duty in Afghanistan, all Grayson Parker wants is to get his family's cattle business back in the black and live a quiet life. But the return of Reece Hearst makes "quiet" impossible.

Though it's hard to care when Reece makes chaos so much fun...

Soon, Grayson longs to be the man to show this wounded cowgirl that there is life after loss. But can two damaged people find their way to happily ever after? Or will the scars on their hearts keep them apart?

About the Author

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Jessie Evans, gave up a career as an international woman of mystery to write the sexy, contemporary romances she loves to read. She's married to the man of her dreams, and together they're raising a few adorable, mischievous children in a cottage in the jungle. She grew up in rural Arkansas, spending summers running wild, being chewed by chiggers, and now appreciates her home in a chigger-free part of the world even more. When she's not writing, Jessie enjoys playing her dulcimer (badly), sewing the worlds ugliest quilts to give to her friends, going for bike rides with her house full of boys, and drifting in and out on the waves, feeling thankful for sun, surf, and lovely people to share them with.

Glitter and Grit by Jessie Evans is the fourth book in her Lonesome Point, Texas Series. This series is an awesome combination of romance and modern cowboy. Reece's story was very moving. Prior to this book we only knew her as Tulsi's standoffish, professional bull-riding sister. Now we get the story behind the attitude and aloofness. Grayson Parker is back. He's been gone from Lonesome Point for years. He enlisted after his mother died and has barely looked back. With his fathers recent and sudden death it's now down to him to take over the family ranch and help protect his sister Laney from her abusive ex-husband. A chance meeting at a bar on Christmas Eve causes these two to cross paths and it's not until the next day that they realize the significance of who they went home with. Things only escalate from there. The beauty of this series is that so far the stories have all intertwined and been about the people of Lonesome Point but have not been formulaic. Each story is unique to the characters and is a treasure to read.

Review of Glitter and Grit by Jessie Evans Heartbreak, betrayal and redemption - another 5++ star read Let me just say this, I LOVE Jessie's writing so much that I devour everything she writes as quickly as I can and then I'm chomping at the bit for the next story. This book centers around Reece, who is the older sister of Tulsi from Diamonds and Dust. We got a little peek at her character from that book and I just knew there would be more to come. Reece left home before graduating high school and a major issue with their Father. Tulsi never talked about what the problems were, but we could tell it was going to be big. We meet Reece in this book after she comes back to Lonesome Point due to a skull fracture from her bull riding. It's Christmas Eve and with no way to get to her parents farm, she heads over to the Blue Moon Saloon in hopes of finding someone that can give her a ride. She ends up meeting "Broody" there and they seem to hit it off. He takes her home with him, but mixing beer with her pain killers wasn't the best idea. She wakes up the next morning and has no memory of what transpired after they left the bar. When she recognizes where she is, she panics and we learn about the reason for her leaving home when she did and what led to the trouble between her and her Father. Grayson is the son of the man that caused her so much pain and she runs from him. I will not give any spoilers past this, but you will want to read this book. There were so many good points in this book that make you stop and wonder what we, as women, have had to deal with and the long road we still need to travel. I will say, that I laughed and cried ugly tears during the last 10% of the book, but I wouldn't have had it any other way. I am looking forward to reading the next story Jessie writes, as she keeps writing amazing stories and we get to reap the rewards. **Complimentary Copy provided by Author for an honest review.**

Another amazing story by Jessie Evans! This series has been my introduction to her, and each book has grabbed me and it felt as if I was there in Lonesome Point, Texas. Glitter and Grit is no exception. Reece is a female bull riding rodeo star, and she reluctantly returns to Lonesome Point following a serious head injury. Grayson is the son of the man Reece despises and one of the reasons she left Lonesome Point. However, these two have a magnetic pull towards one another that can’t be denied, but can they get through the twists and circumstances that are ever present? Love their story!

Glitter and Grit is the fourth novel in the Lonesome Point Texas Series and what an addition it is. Jessie Evans has done an amazing job creating this small little town in Texas where everyone knows one another and ready to give a helping hand. I want to be a part of this small town and am excited what will come next. Glitter and Grit is a story about Reece and Greyson. Reece is sisters with Tulsi from Diamond and Dust, and she is nothing like her sister Tulsi. Reece a professional bull rider, ends up in Lonesome Point Christmas Eve (the one place she never thought she would return to after leaving it behind at 18) after being injured. At the bar, she ends up meeting Greyson, "Broody" as she fondly calls him, not knowing his name. There is an instant connection and attraction, and Greyson ends up taking Reece home to his family ranch. The next day Reece realizes that the home she wakes up in is the home of her former riding instructor (Neil), the one man she idolized growing up and the man that changed her life at 18, the age she left Lonesome Point never looking back. Realizing that Greyson is Neil's son, Reece wants nothing to do with him. Greyson on the other hand is not ready to let Reece out of his life and does everything he can to show her that he is a man she can trust and rely on. As they spend time together Reece slowly lets her guard down and she starts to let love in. However their past comes back to haunt them and soon their little bubble of bliss is threatened to burst. Will Reece and Greyson find their happily ever after in the end?

Grayson and Reece...two broken people making each other whole. I don't think Jessie has ever written such a cantankerous heroine as Reece. Tough, straight-forward, but with a heart of gold. Such a haunted past for that one, no wonder she wanted to put Lonesome Point in her review mirror for good. But after a serious injury she's back home in the one place she does NOT want to be. And Grayson, the son of the man who damaged Reece's reputation and her trust, is back after his father's death. Just trying to put things back together after returning from overseas and trying to save his family's ranch. And when their worlds collide there is no stopping the whirlwind. And there were some tough topics to deal with...attempted rape, child pornography, PTSD, domestic violence, TBIs, and life after death all make for weighty topics that bring questions about losing ourselves and our humanity to the surface. But the true goodness and never-give-up spirit of each of the characters shine through in the story. This book really makes you think about all of those without turning it into a depressing episode of Law and Order: SVU. If only real life had such happy endings... I honestly loved every word in this book. From Reece's witty sarcasm to Grayson's dirty mouth (and boy do I love his dirty mouth) it all fits perfectly together. Glitter and Grit is as sweet as it is sexy, as playful as it is hot, as light-hearted as it is serious. I would give this story 10 stars if I could! 2 thumbs up! 15 on a scale of 1 - 10! Oh and I hope we get to see the little girl again...I have a feeling that she and Clementine could get into some serious trouble in an upcoming book ;)

Grayson Parker's return home to Lonesome Point isn't exactly a happy homecoming. Not only is he having to work to rebuild his family ranch, he's also taking care of his sister, Layla, who has come back home to escape an abusive marriage. Reece Hearst, hometown girl and rodeo star, is hiding from some things herself, and hopes that a quick trip back to the town she couldn't wait to leave will give her the respite that she's looking for. When Reece approaches him in a bar on Christmas Eve looking for some no-strings fun (the kind that he hasn't been interested in for a very long time), Grayson can't help but be intrigued. Reece is like no woman he's ever met, and the sparks are flying like crazy in no time. Each time I read the newest book in the Lonesome Point, TX, series by Jessie Evans, I think it's the best one yet. Every single time. And, whichever book it is, it IS the best, every single time. I have fallen in love with each of her strong and sexy cowboys, with each spunky heroine, that inhabit this little town in Texas. Jessie has created characters that touch the heart, that draw me, as a reader, in, and keep me turning the pages until I've taken in every word. GLITTER AND GRIT, Jessie's latest Lonesome Point book, continues the trend, in such a wonderful way. Grayson is probably one of my favorite of Jessie's men to date. He's honorable, strong, committed to those that he loves, and not afraid to go after what he wants. Reece, too, is her own person. She's gone through a lot, and is afraid to form deep bonds because of it. Seeing her evolve into a woman willing to take on her demons and emerge not only victorious, but free to grow into a woman able to forgive and love, is absolutely heartwarming. Grayson and Reece both have baggage, and some heavy stuff at that. Uncomfortable issues are raised in this book, things that are all too present in the real world, but, in typical Jessie fashion, the darkness is conquered with love. There is humor, seriously hot sexy times, witty banter, and the kind of love that makes my toes tingle because it's just SO wonderful. Talk about 'feels,' this book is full of them. Jessie has raised the bar with each new book, so I'm waiting to see what's next for Lonesome Point. I'm really hoping that Layla and Cole get their book next, because the seeds were sown in GLITTER AND GRIT, and I'm definitely ready to see where those two go. No matter which book is next, though, it can't come soon enough. 5+ 'get this book and read it now' stars.

Each time i think i chose a new book boyfriend, Jessie goes and ruins it by writing a better one. I LOVE Grayson. I love a broody man and i have a picture in my head of big bulky broody man named Grayson. Love Love Love! Anyway, Reece left town 12 years ago when her father didn't believe her about an attempted rape from her Teacher. Fast forward 12 years, Reece finds herself injured and unable to ride bulls, looking for a place to crash. Knowing her parents are not home she chooses to crash at their house. Getting into town she runs into a broody stranger, share a few drinks and goes home with him. To wake up and discover he is the son of the man who caused her to leave town.  Grayson is instantly taken with Reece and when he learns who she is, he works to earn her trust in spite of his dad. Several bumps and threats along the way brings Reece to trust in her feelings for Grayson and look for her happy ending, but just as they start, something happens... It's a great read, once again i found myself crying towards the end. Very well written. Now i will patiently await the next one :)

Love Grayson and Reece! I've liked Reece since one of her few lines in Diamonds and Dust, "No, T.T….I guess I just keep thinking that if you stand up to enough horses, you’ll work up the guts to stand up to Dad…" It would have been easy to make a snap judgment about Reece from previous Lonesome Point books, but this is a good reminder there is always more to someone’s story! This was one of my favorite stories in this series, and I love that they can be read as standalones, but honestly I want to keep reading more about these characters! Jesse’s writing is seamless and flows from page to page. The stories are real enough to keep you believing and want to meet them, but exciting enough that you just can’t put these books down. If you’re looking for a sexy, dynamic, fun read look no further!

I love Jessie's Lonesome Point Texas series. So much. I want to know these people, I want to live with them. These small town people are full of life, emotion, sass and love. Jessie just gets better and better. I love the way she writes and I can't wait to read the next book because I know it will be amazing! She has given me more book boyfriends this year than any other author! She has this wonderful way of bringing her characters to life with their smart mouths, dynamic personalities and hearts of gold. Glitter and Grit is the story of Reece and Grayson. Reece is Tulsi's sister and she's back in town after a rodeo accident. She meets Grayson one night and neither of them knows who the other is. It's the perfect scenario since she's only in town for a few days. Once she realizes who he is she runs, it's what she does best; runs to escape her painful past. Grayson isn't going to let her go without a fight. Reece decides she could use a friend, but Grayson feels like more than a friend. Can she risk her heart with this brooding stranger or when it's time to leave town will she run again. Will Grayson lay his heart on the line and ask her to stay? This is such a wonderful, emotional story that I could not put down. Grayson is smokin' hot, sweet and refreshingly thirty-eight years old! :) and Reece is a hilarious spitfire! I love seeing leading ladies that are tough, stubborn and can take care of themselves. Thank you Jessie for another book boyfriend and I can't wait for Cole and Layla's story! She couldn't remember a damned thing about the body beneath his gray sweater and dark jeans. Which was a crying shame. Broody was even more handsome in the daylight with his blue eyes catching the dim light penetrating the shadows of the barn and his cowboy hat settled on his head. Reece didn't really want to watch Die Hard, she wanted to crawl into Grayson's lap, straddle his thick thighs, and rub all over him like a cat in heat. "Like I said, I'm good with a gun and can shoot a wife-beating son of a bitch in the ass at a hundred feet."
