For centuries, humanity has been caught between science (evolutionism) and religion (creationism) fighting about our origin and purpose. Even though both sides have some truths, both are crippled by blind faith in theories, beliefs, and speculations that are short on facts, and abundant in contradictions and shortcomings.
What if the truth about life its origin, purpose, and future could be found through the union of science and religion? What if, rather than relying on fanatics who only repeat what they have been told, one could learn to perceive and experience the truth for oneself? This is the essential point of view of Gnosis: knowledge from conscious experience. By awakening consciousness (which is 'religion') to perceive reality as it is (which is 'science'), one can begin to see that our history is far more incredible than modern science or religion suspect.
Based on this practical foundation, Gnostic Anthropology explains the evolution of humanity as symbolized in the ancient teachings. Rather than being the descendants of apes or of two divinely created people (and the incest of their children), we are the outcome of a very long and slow spiral cycle evolution and devolution whose pattern includes the rise and fall of civilizations faintly remembered in myths and scriptures, such as the stories of the universal flood, Atlantis, Lemuria, Hyperborea, Thule, etc. Just as a child resembles its parents but also is changed, humanity also resembles its parents, but with changes. In the birth and development of a single human being, we can find all the clues of our ancient origins. All we need to know is how to look in order to see the truth for ourselves.
'Modern science insists upon the doctrine of evolution; so do human reason and the 'Secret Doctrine,' and the idea is corroborated by the ancient legends and myths, and even by the Bible itself when it is read between the lines. We see a flower slowly developing from a bud, and the bud from its seed. But whence the latter, with all its predetermined programme of physical transformation, and its invisible, therefore spiritual forces which gradually develop its form, colour, and odour? The word evolution speaks for itself. The germ of the present human race must have preexisted in the parent of this race, as the seed, in which lies hidden the flower of next summer, was developed in the capsule of its parent flower...' About the Author
Between 1950 and 1977 - merely twenty-seven years - Samael Aun Weor wrote over sixty books on the most difficult subjects in the world, such as consciousness, kabbalah, physics, tantra, meditation, etc., in which he deftly exposed the singular root of all knowledge. He experienced all the extremes that humanity could give him, from adoration to death threats, and in spite of the enormous popularity of his books and lectures, he renounced an income, refused recognitions, walked away from accolades, and turned away those who would follow him.

It is necessary to know the origin of the human being: where the human being comes from, the fundamental reason for its existence. It is necessary to investigate it deeply, in a more profound way, since only vague theories have been stated about the origin of the human being.
The present materialistic scientific bases of evolution are:
First, the nebular theories related with the origin of the universe with all of their innumerable alterations, modifications, additions, restrictions, and so on. Indeed, all of these do not even minutely alter this original mistaken conceptual theory related with the mechanical constructive processes.
Second, the capricious theory of Darwin related to the origin of the species with all its corrections and subsequent changes.
Indeed, the appearance of new species (as a result of the law of evolution) is merely a simple hypothesis, since it has never been verified. No one has ever witnessed the appearance of a new species.
When creating the theory of evolution, modern thought forgot about the destructive, devolving processes of nature. The reason lies in the much too limited field of intellectual vision of these times. Due to this, pompous theories are elaborated upon; all of them are very beautiful but all have an insufficient number of facts. Within these theories none of the processes are certainly and entirely known; these theories only observe part of the process of evolution. Erudites state that this process consists as a type of evolving change.
In this day and age, the human mind is already so degenerated that it has become incapable of even comprehending the inverse, degenerative process on a greater scale.
The minds of contemporary erudites are so trapped, bottled up within the dogma of evolution, that their minds only know how to think or function according to their bottled up condition. This is why they attribute unto the other phenomena (that is, devolution, destruction, decadence, and degeneration) the qualities of evolution, development, and progress. The so-called European primitive races of the Stone Age (such as the Cro-magnon that lived in the caverns of the Earth) were formerly very beautiful, but the degenerative, descending cyclical impulse acted terribly upon those races of Atlantean origin. Finally, the Palaeolithic man left his position to his successor, disappearing almost entirely from the scene...
