Good Karma by Donya Lynne

Has this Cinderella found her Prince Charming, or is he too broken to be a prince?

"WOW is such an understatement for this book!" -Reader Review

Karma has been too focused on her career to pay attention to men, but when her best friend convinces her to attend a charity ball wearing a stunning red dress that catches the eye of every man in the room, she discovers a surprising side to her personality. One that adores the attention but has no idea how to handle it, especially when a handsome stranger invites her to his room.

Mark is a wealthy businessman brimming with confidence. But after finding his fiancée with another man six years ago, he guards his heart as fiercely as he conducts business, vowing never to fall in love again. When the beautiful woman in the enchanting red dress snares his gaze from across the room, he has no idea she will shatter his carefully ordered life.

What starts as a casual flirtation quickly turns into something much stronger. Mark is driven to know Karma, understand her...educate her, and Karma is his willing student, eager to explore the pleasure he promises. But when the teacher becomes the student, Mark will have to make a choice: take another chance on love . . . or break Karma's heart.

Mark Strong is wonderful and helps bashful and insecure Karma find herself. She finds herself but she finds herself falling for the out of her league Mark Strong. The chemistry was on fire between these two. This is such an emotional book. The first in the trilogy but can be read as a stand alone although personally I can not wait for the next book. Donya is a very talented author and weaves a beautiful book. Whether it is vampires or contemporary romance She is amazing!!

Good Karma by Donya Lynne 4 out of 5 Stars When I read the first line and saw a reference to Cinderella and her castle, I thought “Oh boy…Another spin on the old fairytale…” But boy what a fantastically steamy, beautiful, moving, funny, real to life tale this ended up being!!  Lynne took what could have been a cheesy attempt to modernize a classic theme, which we’ve all seen done before, and beautifully made it a modern day love story. Karma is almost every woman I know; insecure, feeling kinda safe in a rut both physically, professionally, emotionally, stylistically, and for sure sexually, and still truly beautiful and wanting to give life and love a try.  Mark on the other hand is a rare breed; the “perfect” guy who knows how to make any woman feel like a Queen in every possible way, but never wants to be a King when it comes to making her home his lifelong castle or making a vow in front of God and man that she belongs to him.  So when the two meet boy do things get interesting in the “ballroom”!  Hehehe   This was a really fun, moving, one-sitting read that kept me up until 4am!  Lynne’s writing is very smooth, well-paced, and descriptive enough that you feel like you are standing in the Palmer House Hilton but not so much so that you get tired of reading about the plant’s leaves and how many hors d’oeuvres were served!  So I truly recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy a GREAT modern day Cinderella story…I just can’t wait to see what happens next!! *A complimentary copy was given in exchange for an honest review* Pepper, My Secret Book Spot

4.5 stars: GOOD KARMA is the first instalment in Donya Lynne’s new, adult, contemporary Strong Karma erotic romance series focusing on Karma Mason and Mark Strong.  Our couple first meet at a charity event where Karma was willing to step out of her comfort zone and into a sexy one night stand. What follows is a forbidden relationship between two people whose lives will intertwine between the boardroom and the bedroom. The storyline focus is on the building relationship between Karma and Mark. Following their ‘almost’ one night stand, Karma discovers that Mark has been hired to streamline the company for which she works. Knowing that embarking on a sexual relationship could very well end their careers, Mark and Karma have a difficult time keeping their work and their private lives apart. Jealous and vindictive co-workers will set their sights on Karma hoping to take her down with the rest of the trash. The relationship between Mark and Karma is sensual, seductive and educational. Mark is a complex man with more experience and he is willing to teach Karma a thing or two about what he wants and where the two shall go. Mark’s past has all but controls his present, and Karma’s insecurities and fragile ego are fodder for those people who believe they have something to gain by destroying what little is left of Karma’s faith. The secondary characters are colorful: from co-workers to family Karma must fight the barrage and personal attacks on both her personality, her appearance and her position at work.  The ground rules have been set for a woman whose life has revolved around trying to make it in a world controlled by power and beauty. The storyline line ends with a bit of a cliffhanger-one that will evoke a tear or two or ten.  I reread the passage several times and each time I cried harder than the last. Donya Lynne’s foray into the world of contemporary erotic romance is provocative, emotional and heartbreaking. There is startling truth and a staggering fall-out for two people who have fallen in love but for one the head doesn’t know what the heart has done.  GOOD KARMA looks at two people whose relationship is built upon a temporary framework-one that will come crashing down when one man is afraid to take a chance.

Heartfelt insight into two people who struggle to overcome emotional pain in learning to love and who sacrifice for fear of commitment

This was a surprisingly heartfelt read by an author that is new to me. At first glance it seems like a familiar plot about a wallflower and a rich man who doesn’t “do” relationships. I was pleasantly surprised to find it was deeper than that. Karma is a girl who has a past filled with bullying. As a result, she never has come out of her shell. Even as an adult she immersed herself in school and now work, and kept out of the social sphere. Her best friend needs a date for a social event, and for one night Karma gets to play Cinderella at the ball. And she attracts the eye of every man in the room, including Mark. He sets her at ease, and when she ends up back in his hotel room she freaks out a bit and leaves. Mark has trouble forgetting Karma, and is pleasantly surprised when he finds on Monday morning that he will be working with her by contract. This is the perfect arrangement for Mark to continue to pursue Karma. The real question is will they both be able to shed their pasts and see what they could have together? It seems like a classic storyline, I know. But where this book separates itself is by the writing and the characters. The plot unfolds at a nice pace. It’s believable to a degree, and for me in contemporary romance that is a must. I believed the chemistry and the connection between them. And I think they both had pasts that are experienced by a lot of people. It was easy to connect to them on that level as well. This is a really sensual book as well, I felt. Not just sexy, but sensual. To me, there’s a big difference. It was just sex for the sake of sex; it was sex that connected two people. There are also some moments that made me blush, and let me tell you, that’s hard to do! Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It was far above average for me in this genre, and I can’t wait for the next installment in the series. 4.5 stars! Reviewed by Sara Squared for Crystal’s Many Reviewers *Copy Provided for review*

Loved this story so much. Mark is such a troubled soul with a heart of gold. Really to good to be a true . Karma is the nerd girl with a troubled soul also. Mark fixes her soul and his at the same time just won't allow himself mentally to heal. Once you get burned at the alter it's a really tuff pill to swallow, and let yourself feel again. I highly recommend this book to adults. ( there's some sex scenes not intended for teens to be reading.

This is about 400 pages long and is only part 1. A story of faking in love. Only a few sex scenes. The female lead's inexperience is stressed a lot for the first 2/3rd of the book.

Surprisingly sweet but racy story.

I almost put this book down and added it to my DNF list (which isn't long bc I hate not finishing a book once I start it.) I'm so glad I didn't. Karma is a bit hard to like in the beginning. I got pretty tired of her insecurities and low self esteem. That was why I almost put the book down. I hate when a female solely relies on a male to make herself feel beautiful. And Mark is a bit hard to like at times because he won't leave his past alone. I wasn't prepared for the heartbreak. I wasn't prepared to want to reach inside the book and give both karma and Mark a hug. The excerpt at the end of the next book left me wanting more. I've already purchased the next book before coming here to write this review. I look forward to going on this journey.

This book surprised me. I laughed, sighed and cried a little for both characters. Mark is a man women dream about. This is book one of three. I have to say I was not happy with the ending but am glad their story is not over. Good read. Not at all sorry I read the book not knowing it was the first of three. Yes, I've already purchased books two and three.

Exciting, erotic, yet not distasteful. A fascinating storyof two people who both struggle with hurt & insecurity. Karma is shy, reserved & has low self esteem of herself as a person & her physical appearance. She's persuaded to attend an event with her friend daniel wearing a sizzling red dress that he bought her & that he insisted she wear. She always wears ugly clothes that completely hides her body. Marc, who is very hotly described, oh my!, sees her & is sexually attracted to her. Karma falls heels over heels for him, but marc tells her from the first that he cannot commit to her or any woman & their relationship is temporary. Karma has never felt real passion or sexual satisfaction & marc, a consummate lover, is determined to teach her all he knows. Emotional, funny, & complex; anxiety inducing; heightened by both karma's & marc's pov.
