Appropriately titled, Healed by Love is a wonderful story that leaves you feeling like love (REAL love), time and giving chances can honestly heal up our tortured pasts. Melissa Foster does it again with this book - so much in fact, that you'll want to read it over and over! It's easy to hold onto the past and blame ourselves for everything bad that we've had to experience but when we learn to let go of those things, we can allow a new love to heal our wounds. Jewel and Nate were so realistically written that I could easily fall into their story lines. After losing her father and brother (which I completely related to because it was just the 6 year anniversary of losing my brother at the end of May), Jewel takes on the responsibility of caring for her family. As most people do who have lost a loved one, we over-shelter those who remain for the fear of losing another dear member. Jewel forgets that she needs self-care too! Thankfully, she finds Nate, who helps her find that safe and healthy balance. Nate, however, faces his own demons and internal battle. He was in the war and the things he saw are nothing along the lines of what anyone should witness in his/her life. He holds onto a dark secret that he desperately wants to share with Jewel but it could do one of two things: bring them closer or rip them apart forever. Taking that chance to be healed by love is one that takes Jewel and Nate on a journey that will have you smiling, laughing and crying - sometimes all at once! This book makes you believe in the power of love again! I received this book to review through Beck Valley Books Book Tours, all the opinions above are 100% my own.

Healed By Love captured all of the elements of romance. Unrequited love, heartbreak, coming of age, second chances and loss. Jewel was just as feisty as she was naive. Nate's inner struggles of guilt, pain and the horrific things seen and experienced while within the military caused him to close himself off. Melissa Foster has created a classic love story with modern day drama. Never ceases to amaze me how she can take an emotional story and make you feel so much while on the journey. Yet always leave you with a smile knowing that her characters have overcome all obstacles and found their way. I received an ARC of Healed by Love for an honest review. A WORTHY READ THAT DOES NOT DISAPPOINT.

Okay, but drags a bit. Some overdramatizing. Hard to keep interested. 2.5 stars

They love each other, always have, but her brother's death is keeping them apart for 2 different reasons they need to get past. A good story but too much spent on their vacilation with not enough to hold onto besides. Would have been better as a short story.

Really good romance, cried a lot & smiled. Loved that they overcame all the adversities to be happy. 172 pages. It needed an epilogue to make a good story a great story. 4.5 stars since no epilogue. GJRA

This is the first book in the Love in Bloom series I’ve read. I am totally in love with those hot Braden boys. I want to go back and read all the other books in the series now as well. Grief is a tricky thing. Everyone heals from grief differently and on their own terms. Jewel has lost not only her father but her brother. Jewel put her life on hold in order to help her mother with her young siblings. Somewhere along the way Jewel also lost herself. All of her time and concern was towards her family. Nate has loved Jewel for as long as he can remember. He never said anything because Jewel is the younger sister of his best friend Rick. Unfortunately Rick died while deployed, while Nate came home. Will a secret end Jewel and Nate before they even began? I received this book for free in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions in this review are 100% my own.

I'm not sure what to focus on for my review... because Nate and Jewel were dealing with so many deep issues, both together and separately. They were so perfect together... but had so much to overcome to reach each other. I found myself wanting to grab them each by the shoulders and shake them. I do understand each of them dealing with the grief of losing Rick. I do understand the difficulties of survivors guilt. I also understand being too much up inside your head. Once again I'm LOVING the families that Melissa Foster creates. The dynamics between Nate and his siblings was fabulous. There was energy in their interactions. You could feel it as you read. I love how different they all are... but how supportive they all are. I totally related to his siblings when they would tease and lecture him on Jewel. I swear they wanted to grab him and shake some sense into him too. They could all see what he was going through. They wanted him happy. My favorite scenes between Nate and Jewel had to be when they would get so caught up in each other that they couldn't control what they would say. It was like the heat between them freed their minds to spill what they were REALLY thinking and wanting to say. There was just so much struggle between them both wanting what they wanted... but not wanting to push the other... but wanting to do what was right... but wanting to do what FELT right. The sexual tension was excruciating! But, they so obviously loved each other forever. I loved when Nate spoke with Jewel and Rick's mother. She offered such an amazing perspective. She had such insight into her children and Nate. While what she had to say really moved the story... I have to say I was annoyed with her. That conversation made her seem so wonderful and knowing... but she saw that Jewel was dealing with their family loses by losing herself to essentially become a parent to her siblings. It was great that as a mom she was able to work full time and go to school... but if it really created a situation where Jewel had to step in to pick up the slack (which seemed sometimes she did... and sometimes she was overcompensating)... then it was really selfish on her mother's part. So, either she was taking advantage of Jewel's help... or she was ignoring a problem she knew Jewel was having. I think she just confused me. She KNEW Jewel was the "glue and the bars" but she didn't do anything to make it better. I feel like if she was so knowing and aware of the situation... she could have done something to help Jewel.

If you are looking for a classic love story with modern day drama this is it! I have read a few Melissa Foster books and I have loved each and everyone of them. This book however is my absolute favorite! This story captured all the elements I look for in a romance novel. This is an amazing story filled with strong characters, great chemistry and intricate storylines that captivate you from the start and do not let go. I just couldn’t put it down so I read it in 3 hours. In this story we meet Nate and Jewel. Both Nate and Jewel have unresolved emotional issues to deal with and their chance at a future together lies in getting through these issues. Nate blames himself for what happened to Rick (his best friend and Jewel’s brother) and dreads having to tell Jewel that his orders as Rick’s commanding officer may have led to tragedy. Jewel barely survived the loss of her father. Now with losing her brother, her fear manifests itself in an irrational devotion to her mother and siblings. This is the story of their emotional journey to healing and forever. Nate cherishes Jewel and is protective of her and Jewel is sweet and gentle, with a core of steel, but together they are like two halves of a whole. I don’t want to give any more of the story away but I will tell you this. This book is an absolute must read for any romance novel fan.

Heart warming book not to miss This book is so sweet at the same time a little hot. Jewel and Nate will drives you crazy in a good way. They both are sweet and love each other but are afraid at first to reveal their feelings towards each other. What a beautiful family book as well. Closeness is one great about this book and the support for each other is so strong. It is also a very heart warming book. You need to prepare tissues with you. I am sure that like me you will cry but at the same time fall in-love with Jewel, Nate and their families. My hats off to Ms. Melissa Foster for writing this story. It is unbelievably an amazing great book to read. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a romance book about friendship, heroes and strong family ties. It is such a beautiful story of loss and how they healed by love for each other.

I am absolutely loving all of Melissa Foster's books! I have never read such great romance books before I was introduced to hers. This one is no different. It was a great read and I really got into it and finished it pretty fast. I have had a hard time finding time to read but I always find time for her books. This is book one in the Peaceful Harbor Bradens. I really enjoy Nate and Jewel's story because Melissa has it well developed and it was fun to read. There were some emotional parts but the ending was great. I am looking forward to the next book.

Healed by Love is part a series of contemporary love stories by Melissa Foster. This time we meet Nate Braden, a former solider returning home without his best friend. War is hard enough when you do not have to send those you have grown up with into danger, but Nate does not have that luxury. Nate has loved his best friend's little sister for as long as he can remember, but there have always been obstacles in his way, first their age, then the war, and now that has returned home, survivor's guilt is rearing its ugly head. Jewel is the kind of girl that feels the weight of the world on her shoulders. If someone in her family needed a kidney, she'd be first in line to offer up one of hers. When she suddenly becomes the oldest child, she takes on all the responsibility she can, effectively giving up her own life to care for her younger siblings and help her mother out. Love is the absolute last thing on her mind, even though she has had a crush on Nate Braden since high school. Can the stars line up in their favor? Grab a copy of Healed by Love, relax by the pool and dive in.

EEK! I get to read the Bradens again! Healed By Love is from the Love in Bloom series (#25) and is #13 of The Bradens! That's a lot of Braden books for me to catch up on, this one features the Braden cousins of Peaceful Harbor. I loved Crashing Into Love which was my first introduction to the Braden men and I couldn't wait to read Healed by Love. Nate is a war veteran who went to war with his best friend Rick Fisher - Nate watched Jewel, Ricks sister grown up along side them and basically loved her from afar. Now he is home and he feeling so guilty about Ricks death (this isn't much of a spoiler I promise) that he feels he can't have anything with Jewel without coming clean about that happened that fateful day that Rick died. Jewel has also loved Nate from afar, growing up around him and since she has spent most of teenage years upwards looking after her siblings she hasn't had much life experience when it comes to guys, so when Nate comes home she starts to have feelings for him all sparked from a kiss they shared 2 years prior on New Years They both go through the whole does s/he like me or not turmoil in their heads at the start and I was like "just do it all ready!" :) We see Jewel grow as a person in her own right during this book which I thought was great. She comes to accept her fears and starts to live life. This is yet another fantastic book by Melissa, I don't know how she does it but she better not stop. Ever.

I have loved every one of Melissa Foster’s books. Who can ever get enough of the Braden’s? I sure can’t! Healed By Love is book one in the Peaceful Harbor series of the Braden’s. This is Nate and Jewel’s story. Nate Braden was best friend’s with Jewel’s brother Rick. He’s also always had feelings for Jewel. Jewel in turn has always had feelings for Nate. Get the picture? When tragedy strikes Jewel’s and her family, she tries to bury her emotions and makes taking care of her family her number one priority. When Nate returns home to Peaceful Harbor, what he finds is not the teenage sister of his best friend. What he finds is a grown and very beautiful woman. It becomes hard for both of them to hide their feelings for one another. Nate has a lot of guilt that keeps him from moving forward with Jewel but Jewel in turn can’t see past grief and the pledge she made to her brother to put their family first. This was a very heartwarming story and I know everyone will fall in love with Nate and Jewel.
