Overview

The Heart of the Hills by John Fox

'In The Heart of the Hills', Fox revises his earlier thoughts about mountain people. He depicts more clearly than in his previous work just how they were exploited by outside industrialist-those men who, in the words of Fox's hero Jason Hawn, 'got rich diggin' our coal an' cuttin' our timber.'

A well written, coming of age story centering around two sets of cousins set in Kentucky in the late 1800's. If you love to read old books and are interested in the speech and customs our our great country's past, you will appreciate this book. My copy did not have many jumbled words, etc. That alot of these old books do, I quite enjoyed it. LB
