Hearts Don't Lie - Book Six, MacLarens of Fire Mountain Contemporary Romance Series
"If you like cowboys, gritty heroes and heroines, all mixed with passion and suspense, you'll love the MacLarens of Fire Mountain."
Mitch MacLaren has reasons for avoiding relationships, and in his opinion, they're pretty darn good. As the new president of RTC Bucking Bulls, difficult challenges occur daily. He certainly doesn't need another one in the form of a fiery, blue-eyed, redhead.
Dana Ballard's new job forces her to work with the one MacLaren who can't seem to get over himself and lighten up. Their verbal sparring is second nature and entertaining until the night of Mitch's departure when he surprises her with a dare she doesn't refuse.
With his assignment in Fire Mountain over, Mitch is free to return to Montana and run the business his father helped start. The glitch in his enthusiasm has to do with one irreversible mistake-the dare Dana didn't ignore. Now, for reasons that confound him, he just can't let it go.
Working together is a circumstance neither wants, but both must accept. As their attraction grows, so do the accidents and strange illnesses of the animals RTC depends on to stay in business. Mitch's total focus should be on finding the reasons and people behind the incidents. Instead, he finds himself torn between his unwanted desire for Dana and the business which is his life.
In his mind, a simple proposition can solve one problem. Will Dana make the smart move and walk away? Or take the gamble and expose her heart?

A Real Page Turner! Shirleen Davies has done it again. She’s written another romantic suspense that’s a real page turner. This time the focus is on Mitch MacLaren, aka Mr. Broody, the one that always gets his way. He’s also known as the one that will never settle down in a relationship. Not at all, especially now that he’s president of RTC Bucking Bulls. He has way too much on his plate. Not only is he set on avoiding relationships, but he’s also not making any business changes unless it’s what he wants. Well, at least that’s the way it’s always been in the past, before Dana Ballard entered the picture. She’s smart and sassy and refuses to back down to Mitch. The back and forth verbal sparing between Mitch and Dana was extremely entertaining. I love how their relationship developed, I love the mystery that is woven throughout, and I love how tight knit the MacLaren family is and how they are always there for each other. The story is fun and intriguing and will have you guessing right to the very end. Yup, it’s a real page turner! *****I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions and viewpoints are my own.

I have read many books from Shirleen Davies and I have been a fan now for a long time. This is book 6 in the series and I just couldn't get enough of this series! Mitch has been avoiding relationships for most of his life and he is pretty good at avoiding them. He has taken over as the new president of RTC Bucking Bulls and his new job has been very stressful. Dana's new job forces her to work with Mitch. Mitch is very hard to work with and him and Dana have problems at first. Later they end up falling in love and it's magically written. I liked both characters and how they worked together in falling in love. Shirleen Davies is one of my favorite authors and I can't wait to read her next few books!

Is this really already book six of the MacLarens of Fire Mountain Series? I suppose the old saying, "Time flies when you are having fun" is especially true with this this author. It seems like just yesterday that I picked up my first Shirleen Davies book and began getting reeled in by her excellent story telling. Hearts Don't Lie is no different and if you haven't read any of the author's previous works, you will still be able to follow along with this, or any of her other books. Hearts Don't Lie follows Mitch and Dana's romance as it goes from friendly, and some not so friendly, banter, to a full blown relationship where the two begin to fall in love. We kind of saw that coming though. The "dare" did have me second guessing that though but it added that necessary twist that we all love to see. Without giving too much away, this book offers everything the contemporary romance reader could want; an excellent story line, well developed characters that are easy to relate to and a sense of intrigue where everything could fall apart in an instant for our main characters. This book deserves 10 stars!

'Hearts Don't Lie' was another powerful romantic story from Shirleen Davies. I fell in love with both Mitch and Dana as they couldn't be more different, yet they brought out the best in each other. They were the ultimate proof that sometimes opposites attract. Mitch does not have a good history with experiences from relationships, and that drives him to mistrust them entirely. As strong as his feelings for Dana are, his mistrust of women is still a stronger obstacle to overcome before he can truly pull Dana into his life. Dana, on the other hand, has an insuperable amount of patience, and that comes in handy with Mitch as he often wields a cold tongue and actions in an attempt to push her away, often unpredictably. When animals start getting sick on the ranch, the tension rises and more strain is added to their circumstances and makes things even more unpredictable. 'Hearts Don't Lie' is easily one of Davies' more suspenseful books. I can't wait to see how this series continues!

And once again Shirleen gives us a masterpiece. I have loved all of her books and this series is awesome. I love romance with western flavor, nothing sexier than cowboys. The details are spectacular and send me on a wonderful journey and an escape we all need sometimes. Mitch and Dana make an adorable couple, the passion is there and he fights it, but she makes it rough for him. I love the sense of family loyalty and strong friendships, rather refreshing and warming. And the plot has already been laid for the next book. There are some surprises, some shocks, some mystery and I hated to see it end. Shirleen Davies is one of my favorite authors and she just keeps getting better. I love her mind. I strongly this book, and the whole series to all romance lovers.
