Hell Bent (Deep Six Security Series, #3) by Becky McGraw

Former Delta Force Operator turned CIA Ghost Ops Operative Cade Winters has been dodging his dysfunctional family for years.  He isn’t supposed to have a family, it’s too dangerous, but Cade can’t let go of the only person he gives a shit about, his sister Veronica.  When he makes his yearly call to her and finds out she’s receiving death threats from a homegrown terrorist group, Cade knows he has no choice but to go back to Texas to make sure she’s safe.

Fresh out of a six-year hitch in the Army, Cee Cee Logan thinks she’s finally earned her brother David’s respect when he finally offers her a job with his security firm.  She quickly sees that isn’t the case when the job she’s hired for turns out to be that of the team secretary, a nice safe, desk job like he told her to get when she graduated college.  Cecelia is frustrated, but takes the position because she is determined to prove to her chauvinistic and overprotective sibling once and for all she’s capable of so much more.

By the end of the first week, Cee Cee wishes she’d have just re-enlisted.  Her body is stiff from sitting, her fingers sore and her mind numb, but what really makes her want to run back to Afghanistan where she would at least be respected by her colleagues is the company’s other new hire.  Cade Winters, her ex-lover, is back in town and the hardhearted, hard-bodied operator is a man she definitely doesn’t know anymore.

When a trafficked woman’s repatriation clinic is attacked, and Cade’s sister Veronica, a judge, is in grave danger, Cecelia is presented with her opportunity to prove herself as an agent.  But the question was, did she want it?  Could she trust her partner to have her back when he seemed to be on a mission of his own to put a knife in it every chance he got?

Becky McGraw - Deep Six Security Series Hell Bent: Book 3 A great installment to the Deep Six Security Series that is a fast paced novel that will keep you turning pages to the very end. We have met Cade Winters in book 2. He is a harsh man that I didn’t particularly care for then nor did I like him in the beginning of this book. Cade comes from the Delta Force elite force. He is a harsh man and refuses to have more than one night with a woman since he was not willing to have his heart broken again. Cade swore never to come back to Texas but his sister; a judge has been threatened because of her involvement in helping women who have escape from human trafficking. The problem is that he has to work for Deep Six Security and the women, CEE CEE Logan, is their receptionist and who broke his heart years ago. All Cade can do is avoid her at all costs. Cee Cee only wanted one thing to be independent and stand on her own. That is why she had to join the military and was in very dangerous places. Cee Cee had proven to herself but she is not able to convince her brother, the owner of Deep Six, that she should be a team member and not just the girl at the front desk. But, he won’t have any part of that. She just wants to be respected for her accomplishments but isn’t able to get that. Maybe she should re-up in the military. Even the man, Cade, who she loved once didn’t respect her or her decision. He didn’t want her to sign up for the military so they parted ways and haven’t seen each other since. Now what is she going to do? He is working for her brother at Deep Six. Cade avoiding CEE CEE is not possible since he needs her to help him with saving his sister. Even though the attraction is still just as strong as it was so many years ago, neither will give in to their feelings. Well, that was the plan. Is it possible that Cade and Cee Cee can forgive each other and the pain that each still feels?

4 1/2 Star Review..... Have you ever wanted to choke someone, and slap someone else up side the head too? Well this was my reaction to Cade Winters and Cecelia Logan. Cade has spent years doing what he believes he does best and to hell with anyone who doesn’t like it. He’s arrogant, opinionated, a brute and downright nasty. But throughout the story you can’t help but see the occasional crack in his hard-earned status, and wonder what caused this hardened version of someone who was full of life. CeeCee Logan spends copious amounts of time trying to win her brothers favour and cement her standing within his Deep Six Security team. But Dave doesn’t want his sister on the front line, letting her leave to join the military was bad enough, so he’s not encouraging her risk-taking tendencies. So secretary it is, well until he can push her all the way out the door. Cade and CeeCee have history, and after two years of wonderful, everything fell apart when CeeCee enlisted without talking to Cade first. So six years later, many miles of distance and so much angst between them, this unlikely duo are thrust together for a common cause and forced to deal with issues they both thought better left in the past. This is an extremely emotional story with the background of each primary character and the heartbreaking reality of human trafficking where the degradation and torture so many innocent women endure is unending. I really loved this story and while Cade came across brutish and hardheaded initially, and CeeCee had moments of immaturity, their growth and development throughout the story was wonderful.

I tries, I really did, to like the alpha in this. I have also read the first two books in this series and they have the same problem. The men have no respect for the females. I give up. No more of this series for me.

Hell Bent is the third book in the Deep Six Security Series, and although I loved the other books, I think that this one is my favorite. Not only is the chemistry between Cade Winter and Cecelia Logan (Cee Cee) sizzling hot, the story line is just so intense, that is grabs you from the very first page and doesn't let go. Cade and Cee Cee have a history, but after years apart, they are both different people, and the fact that they parted without closure, leaves both of them bitter. Cee Cee is Dave Logan's sister, and both she and Cade work for Deep Six. When Cade's sister starts making noise against human trafficking it leaves Cade hell bent on protecting her, and he will not allow Cee Cee to help in anyway, because he thinks he needs to protect her too. Seems like everybody wants to protect Cee Cee and to say that her brother Dave needs a attitude adjustment in this book, is putting it mildly, he is a total jerk towards his sister. This book is so much more than a romance between two people, it is loaded with suspense, action, and real life problems. Poor Cade, he experiences so many things in this book, and at one point I just wanted to reach through the pages and hug him, what he had to go through was just so heartbreaking. Five shining stars for this one Becky McGraw, but it deserves so many more. If you love romance, with action, drama, and suspense then give this book a try, you will not be disappointed. For me, it was one of those reads that stays with you, long after the last page is turned.

Becky McGraw just keeps pulling you in with her characters and stories. I just finished reading book three of the deep six securities series. Finally getting to hear Cade and Cee Cee’s story, I couldn’t put it down. From the first page we are brought deeply into Cade’s world and the demons he struggles with. The tension between Cade and Cee Cee is strong, but both of them need to learn to love themselves and accept each other if they want that happy ever after. I enjoyed watch both characters grow and evolve throughout the story and rooted for them until the last page. It was great to have interactions with characters from Becky’s other books, and if you haven’t read any of the others…run and download them all as fast as you can..you will NOT regret it. This story is book 3 of the Deep Six Securities series and while it could be a standalone book, I strongly encourage you to read the first 2. Each book in this series is an amazing and emotionally roller-coaster that leaves you smiling through the tears and begging forbmor
