Help! I Don't Want To Live Here Anymore by Brian S. Pratt

Not long after my three children went to live with their mother and her boyfriend, they began complaining about the terrible new life they encountered in their new home.

They and I discussed the different situations and tried to work out ways in which they could make things better. This book recounts how I strove to help them deal with their new circumstances. Some helped, others are pending.

As a former elementary education teacher turned pediatric registered nurse, I have seen cases of child abuse and neglect... this is not one of them. This is a guy who is angry because his wife left him for another man and won custody of the three children. He writes this book to "nit pick" at everything that goes on in his ex wife's household.  I actually find it shameful that he compares  his situation with true cases of child abuse. i agree with the reviewer below who said that he was adding more stress on the children by feeding into everything that was said. I will go a step further to say that I believe he was probably putting thoughts into their head also.

Just some huy whining about his ex. Almost perfect grammar, though.

I would have to say that Brian may have added to his children's stress level by buying into every single detail of their homelife as undesirable. I found the ham sandwich incident in particular to be revealing. There is nothing wrong with expecting a child to eat what is in front of them without argument. In addition I believe he deliberately fostered a "them against us" mentality in his anguish and helplessness. On the other hand the ex is obviously unstable, selfish and weak, and the boyfriend a rough sort. I'm really glad Brian got custody back.

Good story showing what a broken marriage can do. I feel bad for the kids and the dad. The mother and boyfriend obviously only want the kids to hurt the dad and for the monetary reasons - free rent, probably food stamps, welfare check and a bigger tax return. In the end, the kids will hate their mother and probably never talk to her again. Why not let the kids live with their dad where they'll be shown love?

Read like a one sided nasty custody battle...not like an educational piece on child abuse.

Ive just spent $100,000 just to see my grandchild who lives less than 5 miles from me. I can see his point about the mother not careing or the boyfriend being overbearing. It does have a negative effect on the child. Talking negativly about the other parent or grandparents is the child as I have witnessed first hand. Goodluck to you as my son and I have fought thru the court system just to.see this.little 6 year old girl. All you naysayers obviosly.havent havent to deal with this issue
