Overview

Can he work his way into her heart?

Former golden girl McKenna Benjamin is now a single mom with a toddler struggling to eek out a living on her small Montana ranch, which was recently damaged by wildfire. She may be down, but no way is she out. And she's definitely not going to turn to her wealthy I-told-you-so family for aid. McKenna considers herself a lucky survivor, and is committed to making it on her own even if her neighbor's sexy horse trainer is the one offering to help.

Horse trainer Brodie Collins needs a part-time assistant, but when his boss suggests hiring McKenna, Brodie is skeptical. The McKenna he once knew would never stoop to hard work, but Brodie soon realizes that ten years has utterly altered McKenna. Gone is the entitled beauty – replaced by a confident, determined woman, and Brodie finds himself falling hard.

Can this cowboy break down the protective barriers and win McKenna's trust and her heart?

Issues of trust abound in this novel of love that could be if only. McKenna has trust issues stemming from her mentally abusive, narcissistic ex-husband. Brodie had a problematic romance in his last job that led him to leave it and return to Marietta. Both need their jobs together on a ranch and love and romance might get in the way and ruin it for both of them. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Three and a half stars. McKenna Benjamin and her two year old son live on a small farm which was recently devastated by the fire which swept through their small Montana town. Her inheritance from her grandmother was enough for a frugal existence but won't cover the cost of rebuilding so McKenna needs a job, preferably something local. After divorcing her cheating husband McKenna's wealthy family were less than impressed and have cut her off without a dime. She applies to work on the Marvell Ranch but is informed by the town gossip that the ranch manager Brodie Collins doesn't want her around. Brodie and McKenna went to school together, he was the class geek whereas she was school royalty. Brodie doesn't know why she's looking for work but the spoilt entitled princess her remembers isn't welcome. Brodie isn't your typical cowboy, he still draws as much as ever and is studying photography. Although initially resistant to McKenna he soon realises she has changed and he comes to admire her work ethic, but can romance blossom when they work together? I enjoyed this romance very much but felt it ended rather abruptly, the story had been quite slow moving and building up to a big confrontation which just seemed to be over before it had begun and we were straight into the epilogue. I wanted the ending to be drawn out a bit more. I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

"Her Cowboy Boss" (Men of Marvell Ranch Book 4) by Jeannie Watt is a wonderful read. I loved McKenna and Brodie's story. This was the first book I've read from this author, and I'm looking forward to reading more in the future. I can't wait to read the other books in this series. This story has hot cowboys, romance, passion, ranch life, humor, and more. Highly recommend to all fans of romance, cowboys, and series. **I received a copy via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review**
