***** 6 STAR REVIEW ***** Here With Me by Heidi McLaughlin is the first book in her new series. This series is called The Archer Brothers. Being a huge Heidi McLaughlin fan, I had to one click this book the moment it went live. I devoured the book and am experiencing the ultimate reading hangover. Wow! Here With Me by Heidi McLaughlin is her best book yet. The writing was superb! Heidi reached deep within the realm of emotions and executed them flawlessly throughout the book. The reader instantly becomes invested in the characters and feels every emotion they are experiencing. The characters are larger than life and jump off the pages. The secondary characters are an all-star supporting cast that completely makes this story surreal. The plot has been intricately woven into a book that reaches far beyond a second chance romance. Heidi adds suspense, drama, and an impossible love triangle. She adds the important elements that make these characters lives become even more real. Their families, their friends, and their support networks validate their lives. What holds all these characters together and makes them work harder to accept the unacceptable is a young boy. The five year old son that loves unconditionally. The book is written from duel POV ‘s. It flashes from past to present. The reader gets a strong sense of what brought this young couple together. They share their young love, their passion for one another, and their growth as a couple. We see them grow from teenagers to mature adults. We see their strengths and weaknesses. The one thing the reader can count on is their love for another. It is unquestionable. Their love is not the problem, it is their lives in the present, and their futures. There are difficult choices to make. Not only will these choices determine the future, they will destroy the fragile lives they have built. There is no winner. Each person will walk away hurt in some way. Evan Archer was a Navy Seal. His last assignment should have been easy. An in and out. That mission stretched into six long years. When his team is finally able to come home they are in for a complete surprise. There are no welcoming committees, no military personal, and no transports home. Why? Because they are dead! They have been dead and buried for over five years. The lives they once had are gone. Their loved ones have moved on in life. Imagine the shock. The only thing Evan wants is to return home to the love of his life and meet his son face to face. Riley Clarke has held his heart since he was a teenager. Imagine his shock when he finally meets up with Riley and she is not happy to see him. Imagine finding out that she is now engaged to another man. Imagine finding out that man is your twin brother. Imagine your son calling that man daddy. Riley Clarke lost the love of her life when Evan was killed in action. She has spent the last six years moving on from that devastating loss. She had to give birth to her son alone. She has watched him grow alone. The only thing that held her together was the support of her family and Evan’s twin brother Nate. The two of them have mourned together, supported each other, and built a strong friendship that led to a loving relationship. When the man that owned her heart rises up from the grave she is once again devastated. She is angry with the world. She feels powerless and out of control. How can she choose between the man that owned her heart and the man that brought her heart back to life. Any choice she makes will destroy one of these men. Any choice she makes is going to forever break their brotherly bonds. It is going to destroy them all. On top of all the emotional turmoil are the underlying facts about the mission. Clearly something went wrong. As the story unfolds it will raise many more questions. I loved all the characters in this book. I am definitely rooting for Evan. I loved how he not only loved Riley as a teenager and grown woman, but how he respected her feelings and emotions at all times. He is truly a very good man. The readers did not get know much about Nate in the present times. We got to know him through memories and passages of the present. I think we will get to know his character in the next book. I think he is going to be more complex than we are anticipating. This book ended on an emotional cliffhanger. It left the readers with so many questions. It also left the readers wanting to know Nate’s POV. I cannot wait for the next book, Choose Me by Heidi McLaughlin. I need it now!

For starters buy stock in Kleenex because you will need your own personal stash for this one folks! I am not sure even where to begin with describing the inner turmoil of felt when reading this. It's unique style of how we are introduced to the characters is pure genius and sets up with a third party view of what's to come. The blurb alone gives you the notion of how messed up and unthinkable this book will be. It's an understatement. When you are reading the thoughts and recollections of both Ryley and Evan the world around you will cease to exist. All you will feel is this ache inside and a mixture of hope and doom. Brilliant is one word I can use and Heidi McLaughlin is an evil puppet master that of can't help but love!! In order to understand you will have to just read the book for yourself *wink* 5 *WINK* READ Book Flirts by Jessi

Its irritating that this is half a book. Their story "continues" in Choose Me, but this book doesn't even begin to stand on its own. 186 pages.

4 stars Let me start by saying that this book was an emotional roller coaster.  What do you do when you’re whole entire life it turned upside down and just when you are putting the pieces back together, the past comes to learn it all down.  What do you do?  Do you believe in the past or do you continue on with the present?  This is exactly that story. Ryley Clarke grew up knows all to well about military life and the chance of soldiers not coming home to their families.  But when she meet Evan Archer, she knew why she was put on this earth.  She would do anything for him and follow him to the ends of the earth if that was what he wanted.  Evan became Ryley’s everything.  As they finish out high school and plan for the future, Evan knows that he must protect his family and country by enlisting in the military.   Evan knew the moment he laid eyes on Ryley that his world became hers.  She was all he wanted and needed.  But duty called.  He dedicated his life to the special forces, going on missions that he was not allowed to talk about but trusted his men with his life.   But when the unthinkable happens and Evan is keep away from his life for 6 years, he comes back to a reality that is beyond his grasp.  How can this be?  His girl is going to marry another.  Not just another man but his own twin brother?  How did this happen?  How could Ryley betray him and what of his twin brother Nate, he had no right to move in on what was his.  Evan only ask that Nate keep his family safe. As the piece of the years that Evan have been gone are laid on the table, their lives will never be the same.  The lines of trust have been crossed.  How do you go back?  How can Evan let go and allow the present to happen?  Ryley and his son have been the one true light in his years of being gone.  They were what keep him going.   How can Ryley go back to the way it was when she is in love with another man?  Can your heart beat for two men equally?  Or does your soul know its true mate?   This was an emotional story from the get go.  It will play on all of your emotions and leave you with wonder what the hell will Evan, Ryley and Nate do?  The biggest question is why did this happen to Evan’s Seal team?  And why?  Who would want to keep the past away and allow the present to continue wrecking havoc on so many lives?

Unique Storyline!! I absolutely loved this book. I loved the premise of this book. I loved the way the story was told via therapy sessions, and from both Ryley's and Evan's perspectives. What it all boils down to is...I loved everything about this book!! I truly felt for these characters and their plight. What a horrible situation to be placed in. I understood Ryley's confusion and Evan's an extent. However, I had a very hard time with Evan's hatred for his brother, but total forgiveness towards Ryley! Based on the fact that Evan had been dead for 6 years and Nate stepped up to watch over his family, there was no way that I could possibly see Nate as the villain in this story, and it truly sadden me to see that Evan would see his own brother, his twin brother, as such an evil and wicked person. I truly felt for Nate Archer, whose voice I did not really get to hear, but who was "villianized" by his own brother throughout the book. I want Nate to finds his happiness. I, personally, want him to leave Ryley, and find someone who truly dotes on him and him alone, and who does not come with all of these obstacles!! OMG...did I forget to mention that I absolutely adored EJ!! What a cutie!! The ending of this one...Wow!! After that shocker of an ending, I am jumping right into Choose Me!!! I need some resolution...PLEASE!!! Great job, Heidi McLaughlin!!

This book needs more than five stars! Well written... well developed characters. I had tears in my eyes two chapters in! There is no hesitation... we jump right into the thick of the story with the background worked in throughout. My heart broke for Ryley and Evan. It made me question what was going on. Definitely a page turner! Suspect everyone... trust no one! I cannot wait to see how this all plays out!

Evan and Ryley have an epic first love, from their very first meeting you can feel the chemistry sparking off of this couple. I fell in love with Evan instantly as once he met Ryley, he knew she was the one and expressed his affection so openly. Even in his return, he never fails to be honest in his feelings and intentions towards her as he fights for what is his. For Ryley, you could feel how torn she is over Evan and her loyalty to his twin brother Nate, her now fiancé, who was there for her as she found the strength in herself to live a life without him. Amidst the love story is a journey so suspenseful of lies, intrigue, and conspiracy over Evan’s deployment. Questions arise over who or what is to blame and has Evan even questioning the purpose of the special mission. At times I found myself not knowing which parts of the story I wanted to know more of right at that moment, but the suspense of it all mixed with the love story was just a perfect blend. Those familiar with Heidi’s Beaumont series will also love and appreciate the classic Heidi style of writing in which she’s able to take the story at present day of Evan having returned from the dead, and weave the backstory and flashbacks so seamless and effortless into the story. The realism in her descriptions of military life, patriotism, bravery, family, love, loss, fear, heartache, just makes you feel like you are right there experiencing every raw emotional moment. My mind was racing the whole way through and I didn’t want it to end! This book has it all and I truly feel is the author’s best one yet.

Where do I even begin??! First off I must say that Heidi gets me where I live every. damn. time!! Seriously, this was one of those books that I was so eager to start and then I paniced and waited, not because I was afraid of the cliffhanger that I knew was present. Not because I didn't think I'd like it. But because I was pretty sure it was going to rip my heart open and I wasn't sure I was ready for it. And boy did I ever get that right!! I read this book in less than 12hrs because I simply couldn't not finish it! I loved the alternately pov's of Ryley and Evan; the way Heidi weaves the present with the past so that you get the deep connection that these characters have had from their first encounter. I thought the way she does this by each character meeting with a therapist to tell their story was brilliant! It helps you see where both Ryley and Evan were coming from, and it totally made me feel for them both. And man were there ever feelings - feelings were everywhere!! This one has it all as far as I'm concerned! It's got strong emotion, a yummy alpha-male in Evan, a strong female in Ryley, suspense in trying to figure out who is responsible for the mess that their lives have become and even a possible villian in Evan's brother Nate. I cannot wait to see where Heidi takes this story next and you shouldn't either! A true must-read!

SPOILER ALERT - This book just had be all tied up in knots all throughout the book. Circumstances beyond Evan and Ryler's control put them in a horrible situation that they are left with trying to figure out where to go from there. I can totally agree with Evan's pov because he never did lose Ryler so she does still belong to him. Ryler doesn't know how to feel since she is now engaged to Evan's twin Nate but her body is giving her the answers she needs. Your heart just breaks for both characters, especially Evan. With the care packages Evan was receiving, it makes you wonder who was behind the unit being gone for so long and reported dead. I don't know why Evan's mom kept insisting that Ryler belonged to Nate when she was with Evan and if things had never happened the way they did, they would still be together. I don't understand why it took Ryler getting pregnant for Evan to propose. He should have done it way before he did. Nate showing up at the end is really going to make the next book even more intense and I can't hardly wait.

4.25 stars--HERE WITH ME is the first installment in Heidi McLaughlin’s adult, contemporary The Archer Brothers series focusing on Evan and Nate Archer, and the woman that they love Ryley Clarke. Told from alternating first person points of view (Evan and Ryley) the premise follows Evan Archer’s return to civilian life. Home, from a six year undercover Navy SEAL mission in Cuba, Evan has no idea that he and three other members of his team had supposedly died and his entire family has grieved his death for over five years. What ensues is a series of mistaken beliefs, a presumed government cover up and a growing hatred between brothers. Ryley thought Evan was dead. She gave birth to his son; is now engaged to Evan’s brother Nate; but she has never forgotten the man with whom she fell in love. His return has brought with it too many questions and a need to uncover the truth. While Nate has been deployed on his own SEAL mission, Ryley and Evan will begin to rekindle the love that had never died. A major portion of the storyline alternates between Evan and Ryley’s individual counseling sessions where their emotions and pent up anger are revealed. At this point we are not aware of any wrong doing but the counselor’s concerns about a what really happened begin to bring the reality of the situation a little more perspective.  The relationship between Ryley and Evan has already been established but Ryley has moved on. She never stopped loving Evan; they have a son together; and her love for Evan is all encompassing. There are moments of heartbreaking pain, ugly tears and the frightening realization that everything they thought was true has been a lie. The secondary characters include Evan’s less than compassionate mother and sister; Ryley’s parents who have connections in high places; and Evan’s Navy SEAL Team whose families all believe they have died. There is a cover up of epic proportions and an investigation may never reveal the truth. HERE WITH ME is a fascinating, heartbreaking and tense storyline about two brothers, one woman and six years of lies and secrets.  The premise is addicting; the drama continues to build;  the relationship between Evan and Ryley is emotional and intense.  The first installment ends on a bit of a cliff hanger-so be forewarned.

Great book but Cliffhanger. I hope Choose Me comes out soon so I don't lose interest or forget... This book would have been 5 stars but authors need to write more standalone books to keep us coming back for more. LOVETOREAD
