Hero (Wolves of Angels Rest, #1) by Elsa Jade

The mating moon is rising…

Maddie Joplin’s heart was broken by the small-town golden boy who took her virginity and left her behind. Now he’s back with secrets he won’t share and scars she doesn’t remember, and she wants just one chance to show him what he missed.

Kane Villalobos had one choice: abandon Maddie or reveal his dangerous life as a wolf shifter. But with the mating moon on the rise, Kane is bound to take a mate. And this time, Maddie refuses to let him walk away alone.

I read the dragon mating series and fell in love with this author. So disappointed in this book

I received this book from eBook Discovery in exchange for an honest review. "Wolves of Angel's Rest -Hero" provides the first introduction to Elsa Jade's steamy wolf saga. Maddie Joplin returns to Angel's Rest - not exactly her "hometown," but the closest thing she's got to one. Coincidentally, Kane Villalobos also returns - to Maddy's dismay. Let's' just say that their one date in high school several years ago didn't end exactly as anticipated. So running into each other at the local bar leads to some interest .... you get my drift. The plotline is predictable, but the descriptive writing style and bits of fun detail (how many people know there are condoms stashed in the town gazebo?) makes this a pleasant quick read. The book ended somewhat abruptly, and not because it is the first of a series. You are reaching the pinnacle point of the storyline and are wanting that deeper connection with Maddy & Kane at a life altering moment. But the story is summarized very succinctly. Too succinctly. And not at all with the same level of detail and word-painting used earlier in the book. I actually bought the next book in the series just to see if the detail omitted in book 1 was included in book 2. Nope. Just a few lines of text. If there had been more satisfactory culmination at the end of the book, I would have probably given this book 4 stars. Will I finish reading book 2 "Joker?" Absolutely. So far these are just fun, flirty reads. Will I read book 3? Depends on book 2.
