Indie pop singer/songwriter Imogen Heap's “Hide and Seek” has been inventively arranged by Vicky Greenbaum for small brass ensemble. (7-piece: 2 flugelhorns, 2 horns, 2 trombones and tuba). A strikingly unique and contemporary song, its YouTube video has been viewed more than 4.7 million times. This arrangement is not technically difficult — but it does present musical challenges in terms of nuance and inflection. Trumpeters may use bucket mutes if flugelhorns are not available, but open trumpets would not be appropriate. This would be a unique piece for a brass recital and is also playable by advance high school students, who will no doubt greet it with enthusiasm.
