Print is too small for the nook

My mother was born in 1907 just outside of Greensburg, Kentucky on the banks of the Green River. Being a child of the 60's, I did not understand my mother until I read this book.

I am a BIG Janice Holt Giles fan. I have lots of her books. You start reading and you don't want to put it down. This one is definitely different than her others but is still in the hillfolk/western style that most of her books has.

Janice Holt Giles has established herself as a literary painter of hill life in Kentucky. However, any reader of Giles books who misses this title has truly feasted without dessert. The portrait of the lead character is clearly unflattering, but powerfully accurate of many men from that culture. The dialect, farming descriptions, and imagery of hill life is masterfully portrayed by Ms. Giles. For years this book (only found in paperback) has been unavailable to the Giles fan. But now it comes in a sturdy hardback with an attractive jacket. Place this classic on your bookshelf...after you have read it in one long sitting!
