HIPAA Security Rule

A rule adopting HIPAA standards for the security of electronic protected health information (ePHI). The final Security Rule requires all covered entities safeguard the integrity, confidentiality and availability of ePHI. Covered entities are all health plans, health care clearinghouses, and certain health care providers who have (even just once) electronically submitted one of the HIPAA-defined transactions (which includes web-based or “direct data entry” (DDE) transactions).
