After reading a number of 'inner circle' books on this period, this was to be my last. But it also turned out to be the absolutely most fascinating book on the inner workings of Hitler. That is because the author started with Hitler at a very young age, before he was well known and progressed from this raw beginning to the height of Hitler's power- perhaps just before the downfall. The author is also Harvard educated , with German roots which makes his views and recollections all the more fascinating. This is infinitely more intricate and revealing than your usual 'I was there' tome. Also contains insights of the politics involved in the early formation of the Nazi party. A must read for inquiring minds in search of real insights.

Very interesting story told by a man who was with Hitler from the beginning. I found out a lot about Hitler and National Socialism that I did not know before.
