Scarlett Ashford stared at the dilapidated single story building and her courage faltered. Why was she so nervous? It wasn't the fact she was standing in one of the seediest back streets of downtown Los Angeles — or that the peeling façade boasted up-to-the minute security cameras, as though the occupants expected trouble and were more than happy to confront it.
No, her hands were clammy and her stomach churned because of the appointment she had with one of the owners in exactly three minutes.
She glanced at the weathered sign above the door.
That was it. Nothing to indicate who or what Graysons' might be. They obviously operated purely by word of mouth. Well, wasn't that how she'd heard of them in the first place? Not that anyone knew she'd taken note of the name and address when her work colleagues had been discussing Jackson Grayson's methods of ... persuasion.
She took a step forward and her finger hovered over the entry button. Was she really going through with this? Wouldn't it be much easier to simply fall in with her soon-to-be stepmother's plans? Ever since her dad's heart attack eighteen months ago she'd walked on eggshells around him, afraid that the slightest upset would be disastrous for his health. "Oh Scarlett's no problem, darling. She's such a malleable little thing. Does anything she's told in the hope of gaining Daddy's approval," her father's fiancé had said to a friend on the phone.
It stung. Not because she and Clarissa were close. In fact, she thought Clarissa was a social climbing bitch.
It was the jibe about trying to get her dad's attention. Because Scarlett knew it was true. Her two older brothers did whatever they liked, and Dad boasted about their exploits to anyone who'd listen.
All he wanted from her was a couture mannequin. That she was the image of her late mother didn't help. That was the one thing she had in common with her dad. They mourned the premature death of her mom ten years ago. Maybe if she looked more like her dad, he'd see her as an individual.
Never going to happen.
She straightened her spine and jabbed the button. I'm more than a pale imitation ofMom.
"Yes?" The feminine voice through the intercom sounded bored.
"Scarlett Ashford." Thankfully she sounded calm and collected. "I've an appointment with Jackson Grayson at two."
The door clicked open and she stepped inside. The reception area was small and minimalist, with a couple of hard backed chairs for clients. Clearly not designed to impress, or for comfort.
A girl with pink spiky hair and a nose ring sat on the edge of a desk and raked her gaze over Scarlett as though she were making up her mind whether or not to throw her back out on the street. On the wall behind the desk was a massive glossy poster of a white Bengal tiger. Across the top of the poster ran the legend: Humans Suck Ass.
For a second, Scarlett was tempted to turn around and forget the whole thing. Except, her other options were pretty much zero.
"Take a seat." The pixie slid off the desk and pursed her jet-black lips in disapproval. The girl strutted across the floor toward the middle door at the back of the reception and, without knocking, opened it just enough to stick her head inside. "Scarlett Ashford is here for you, J."
She didn't hear any response but clearly Jackson Grayson made one, as the girl turned around and gestured her forward, opening the door for her.
Scarlett stood, and then forgot how to breathe.
The man before her, taking up more space than any mortal had any right to, was over six feet tall, with muscles filling out his black tee to the point of indecency.
He looks like Thor.
Her mouth dried as she dragged her fascinated gaze up from his biceps. Don't think about his biceps. She focused on his stubble-darkened jaw instead, but that didn't help. She'd never gone for the unshaven look before, but to hell with that.
Stop staring at him.
Good advice. A shame she couldn't follow it.
The gossip at work hadn't done him justice. He was so right for her purposes it was unnerving.
"I'll leave you to it then," the girl said. Scarlett had completely forgotten about her. She tried to ignore Jackson's messy black hair, which brushed his collar. And failed.
Thor's body. Loki's hair. Could it get any better?
"Yeah. Thanks, Ella."
Yes, it could. Even his voice dripped with sin. Dark and dangerous with a hint of deadly menace. Darts of pleasure stirred in places she'd almost forgotten she had.
How was that even possible? They hadn't even touched, and she was more turned on than she'd been in ages.
The click of the shutting door cut through her lustful thoughts.
Pull yourself together. She was here on business. Jackson Grayson would never take her seriously if all she could do was drool over him.
She slipped on the coolly polite mask she'd perfected in boarding school and stepped toward him. "Scarlett Ashford."
His hand enveloped hers. His grip was firm but the way his fingers brushed the back of hers was oddly intimate. He didn't appear to be in any hurry to break contact.
Up close and personal it was hard to breathe. His face was rugged perfection. Just like his body.
She pulled her hand free with as much dignity as she could.
Who gets wet just by touching a guy's hand?
She wanted to hire him for a specific job, not to share her bed.
Are you sure?
* * *
Jackson folded his arms and leaned his butt against his desk. Although he'd run his own internet search on Scarlett Ashford before their appointment, it hadn't prepared him for the reality.
Scarlett Ashford was fucking hot.
Her black shirt with matching pants and jacket weren't especially sexy but she could probably wear a garbage bag and look good enough to eat.
"Thank you for seeing me at such short notice."
Her voice was like honey — golden and rich.
"My pleasure." It certainly was. After the shitty week he'd had, just looking at her was enough to lift his mood. Her glossy blonde hair fell in soft waves to below her shoulders, her skin was flawless, and her blue eyes gave her a strange sense of innocence.
An illusion. No one associated with the Ashford media and communications empire was innocent.
He pushed himself off the edge of his desk and waited until Scarlett took the chair he offered her before he sat down.
"You told Ella we'd been recommended to you. By who?"
"I'd prefer not to say."
It had to have been a previous client. And no client would recommend a service they'd been unhappy with, so why did she feel the need to keep her source confidential?
He didn't need another client, especially one who refused to answer the most basic questions. If she was being difficult now, the chances were she'd be a nightmare.
He should tell her he wasn't interested. Except ... he couldn't.
You're going to regret this.
She brushed nonexistent dust from her thigh before taking a deep breath that caused her breasts to strain against the silky material of her shirt. It took him a couple of seconds to drag his gaze back to her face. She's a potential client. He didn't hit on clients, no matter how hot they were.
"Call me Jackson."
The tip of her tongue slid along her lips. He couldn't work out whether she did it on purpose to distract him, or because she was nervous.
She didn't look nervous.
"Jackson." She inclined her head as though she were a queen. Then again, she was a princess in the world she lived in. "I want to hire your services for twelve hours next Saturday."
It was an emergency job. She'd told Ella that on the phone the other day when she made the appointment. Not only had she declined to say who had recommended them, she'd refused to explain what the job entailed. This had not endeared her to Ella, who'd researched her online and discovered the twenty-four-year-old Scarlett was a trust fund baby whose father was getting remarried next Saturday.
Next Saturday. Jackson frowned. "Is this connected to your father's wedding?"
If she was surprised by his remark she didn't show it.
"Yes. I need you to accompany me to the wedding and reception. People would need to think that we're a couple."
A time waster. So why was he still interested?
"One problem with that, Scarlett." He used her name even through she hadn't invited him to. "I don't run an escort agency."
A delicate blush heated her cheeks. Anyone would think he'd just offended her. He should've been pissed at her, but he wasn't.
Why would a woman like Scarlett Ashford want to hire a man for the night?
She could have any man she wanted.
"You misunderstand me." The hint of huskiness in her tone did nothing to stop the graphic fantasies invading his perverted mind. "I don't want to hire you for sex. I need a bodyguard."
Jackson forced himself to lean back in his chair. He'd thrown the escort agency line at her to get under her skin. He hadn't expected her to toss it back in his face like that. He wasn't sure it was a good thing that her answer hooked his interest more than ever.
"Why not use one of your own personal bodyguards?"
"No one would believe we were dating. Fraternization is cause for instant dismissal."
He laughed. She sounded so fucking prim and proper.
"And you expect me to believe you can't find a date for your own father's wedding?"
"Of course I can find a date. But I don't want a date. I want you."
Her last word thudded in the air between them.
I need to end this now. Scarlett Ashford was trouble.
"You want me, huh?" He gave a mocking smile so she wouldn't guess how much he wanted her to say "yes".
"Purely business, of course." She cleared her throat and brushed another speck of imaginary dirt from her black pants. "There's a reason why I need someone who looks as though they won't take any crap from anyone. It's ... personal."
"You mean you want a bit of rough on your arm."
She frowned. "No, that isn't what I meant. I need someone ..." Her voice trailed away. Her gaze lingered on his biceps and chest. He had the strangest conviction she didn't even realize what she was doing. Finally she finished checking him out. "Someone who won't be intimidated by my family."
No chance a bunch of entitled assholes could intimidate him. And then a possible reason for her odd request occurred to him.
"Has someone in your family threatened you?" Why else would she hire a complete stranger to pose as her date?
She sighed. "It's nothing so melodramatic. I just need certain ... people to know that I'm not available."
Now he got it. She wanted to warn off an ex-lover who refused to take no for an answer.
He could do that. In fact, he was looking forward to it. Not that he was going to let Scarlett Ashford know that yet. She had secrets, and he didn't like being kept in the dark.
"If I accept this assignment, what are the boundaries of our relationship?"
It was obvious she didn't know whether to take issue with his use of boundaries or relationship first.
"I'm not sure I quite understand your meaning." She fixed a polite smile on her face.
He folded his arms on his desk and leaned toward her. He was enjoying this, probably more than he should, given that Scarlett was soon going to be his client.
"I don't want to cross any line." Not that he'd mind but he didn't want her to give him a bad Yelp review. "So I need to know in advance how physical you want us to be in public."
The tip of her tongue peeked between her lips again, for one tempting second. "Physical?"
"Yeah. I take it holding hands is okay. What about wrapping my arm around your waist when we dance?"
"Uh." Scarlett looked as if he'd just sucker-punched her. "I guess that would be acceptable."
"And kissing? Will that be cheek contact only, a brief touch of the lips, or major tongue penetration?"
Grayson 1, Ashford 0.
"Major tongue penetration might be required. Does your standard fee cover it, or would that incur hazard pay?"
He gave her a slow grin, not bothering to hide his interest. She'd thrown down the gauntlet.
Grayson 1, Ashford 1.
"I'll give you a special rate."
She didn't even flinch, and his respect for her went up a notch. "Does that mean you accept the job?"
He liked that she hadn't assumed anything. Given her background, he wouldn't have been surprised if she thought she was doing him a favor by wanting to hire his services.
"We need to fill out some paperwork, but yeah." He'd let her keep her secrets, if they meant so much to her. But when it came to the financial side of things, he never left anything to chance.
Twenty minutes later he saw Scarlett off the premises and to her car. As he watched her drive away, he realized Ella was by his side in the doorway.
He slammed the door shut. He hoped she hadn't seen the grin on his face.
"Put your tongue away, J." Ella gave a snort of laughter. "You're drooling."
"I don't drool over clients."
"So you're going to do whatever it is she wants? Why am I not surprised?"
Jackson sighed. He and his brothers had grown up next door to Ella and her family. She was the little sister they'd never had, and the obvious choice to join them five years ago when they'd set up their bodyguard and security business.
Her street smarts and take no prisoners attitude had quickly evolved into a sharp business brain. She kept the Grayson brothers' shit straight, and they'd be lost without her.
And she knew it.
"The money's good, and I'll be rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous."
Ella narrowed her eyes. "You don't need the money, and you despise the rich and famous. There's only one reason why you're taking this job."
"And why's that?" He towered over her but she didn't back down. Ella never backed down.
She smiled up at him, deceptively sweet. "Don't forget the Graysons's cardinal rule, honey. Never fuck clients."CHAPTER 2
The wedding service was interminable. Scarlett tried to keep her focus on her father and Clarissa as they exchanged vows but it was impossible when Jackson Grayson's presence overshadowed everything.
Until the moment she'd seen him walk onto the grounds of the hotel her father had hired for the weekend's festivities, she hadn't been absolutely sure he'd show.
She flexed her fingers under cover of her oversized flower arrangement. At least she wasn't the chief maid of honor and responsible for holding the ridiculously huge bridal bouquet as well. Considering this was her father's third marriage and Clarissa's second, Scarlett couldn't help feeling everything about this wedding was way too over the top. From the eight bridesmaids to the six flower girls and four cute little ring bearers, everyone and every accessory complemented the not-so-blushing bride.
Everything was just exactly as Clarissa had demanded it.
Everything except for one minor detail: Scarlett, her malleable soon-to-be stepdaughter, had dared to turn down the partner Clarissa had procured for her. The man she had assured Scarlett's father — a week before she'd deigned to tell Scarlett her plans — would be the perfect match for his only daughter.
A bridesmaid without a suitable partner would upset Clarissa's demand for pleasing symmetry. And clearly she hadn't trusted Scarlett to come up with the necessary goods before the big day.
Surreptitiously, she looked over to where Jackson sat behind her immediate family. He caught her glance and gave that slow, sexy smile.
Whoa. Smolder alert. Heat prickled across her skin and it was suddenly hard to breathe.
In a formal suit and blindingly white shirt, he radiated a primitive aura of raw sex and dangerous, don't-fuck-with-me attitude. Exactly what she wanted. There was no way Clarissa's slimy cousin would hit on her with Jackson by her side.
She couldn't stop staring at him. The other bridesmaids, all from Clarissa's side of the family, had begun checking him out as soon as they caught sight of him.
She bit back a smile.
At least for the night.

## fantastic read
My Thoughts: I've never met an Entangled Brazen book I didn't like... From the start, this book had me reeled in. I couldn't remember the synopsis when I picked this one up, so it was nice to see how it developed without knowing all the details. Scarlett was the kind of woman who pulls no punches. She knew what she was looking for when she walked into Jackson's office and she made it clear without holding back slightly. "And kissing? Will that be cheek contact only, a brief touch of the lips, or major tongue penetration?" Grayson 1, Ashford 0. "Major tongue penetration might be required. Does your standard fee cover it, or would that incur hazard pay?" He gave her a slow grin, not bothering to hide his interest. She'd thrown down the gauntlet. Grayson 1, Ashford 1 While Jackson isn't allowed to do anything with Scarlett since she's a client, the temptation is there, and neither one of them can avoid it when they have to fake a relationship. Once they cross that line, oh boy does it get steamy! Of course, social standing is in the way of their pseudo-relationship. He's middle class, she's wealthy. He doesn't think he'll ever be the kind of man she would choose in the end. Hold Me Until Midnight was entertaining, sweet, and sexy. The dynamic between Jackson and Scarlett is hot--not just physically, but also in every other aspect. There's no denying the depth of their feelings. I enjoyed Scarlett's determination to get what she wants. There should be more female characters like her out there! Christina Phillips really brought it with this story. My Rating: Very Good
I was pleasantly surprised by this one as I’ve had mixed results with the Entangled: Brazen line of novels. The chemistry between these two was fantastic and I really enjoyed watching the sparks fly. I loved Scarlett and how real and genuine she is. She might have grown up in a life of privilege but she gives back, treats everyone with respect, and has a quiet dignity. Her compassion toward Jackson’s past was really sweet and she never doubts that her and Jackson are meant for each other regardless of their different life styles. Jackson was a perfect growly, alpha male who can take charge but also respect the woman he’s with. For me, he’s just the right amount of alpha without being overbearing. He’s initially just in lust with Scarlett but slowly his feelings change the more he spends with her, especially when he begins to see the real Scarlett. There were a few times where Jackson thinks about something that used to annoy him but it doesn’t with Scarlett. It happens a few times and it’s just a small pet peeve for me in romance novels. Obviously when feelings are involved you feel differently about things but some of them were really early in their time together and seemed out of character for a guy who’s used to one night stands and keeping people at a distance.
Love the storyline
Good but rushed. C
Scarlett and Jackson's story is tremendous. Well written, interesting, a great love story. Life can sometimes catch up with you when you least expect it. Especially love and friendship. Linda-Rose
This story was just ok. I did't feel a lot of chemistry between the main characters!
another great book from christina phillips. Jackson and Scarlett are perfect for one another. i mean seriously whats not to love about a girl named scarlett. she needs a date and a bodyguard and whats better than a twofer. jackson is HOTT. all sorts of fun and sparks ensue. *arc given by publisher for honest review
Scarlett needs a date for her father's wedding, so she hires Jackson as a bodyguard, date. The one thing though, Jackson does not sleep with his clients. Can they fight off this definite hot attraction between them. Loved how opposites find their love. A fun sexy read. A new author for me, and won't be the last. I received this book from netgalley for an honest review.
Jackson Grayson and his brothers had a rough childhood. Their father was violent and abusive. The boys have worked hard to become the honorable men they are today. When Jackson is hired by Scarlett Ashford to be her date at her father's wedding, he's attracted and intrigued. That one night leads to a passionate relationship with this beautiful lady. Does love stand a chance? Jackson is a powerful Alpha male who is strongly attracted to Scarlett, but he feels that he doesn't belong in her world. He won't go where he's not wanted. Scarlett is protective of her father. She's sad that he only sees her late mother when he looks at her. She wants to break free and become her own person. The chemistry between the bad boy and the good girl is amazing. Their romance is passionate and sensual. I liked seeing them get to know each other and grow close. I was frustrated when her father interfered and I cheered when she stood up to him and told him to back off. Christina Phillips wrote lovers that I cared about, a fabulous setting that made me envious and a romance that kept me hooked. I can't wait to learn how the other Grayson Brothers find their perfect mate. I couldn't put down Hold Me Until Midnight.
I love, Love, LOVE the Brazen books and this was another 5 star story!! Scarlett needs a date for her father's third marriage. Her soon to be stepmother wants her to date her nephew, but Scarlett has no desire and he won't take no for an answer. So she hires Jackson, a body guard, for the weekend. What starts out as a business arrangement, quickly turns into something more. Both are from different worlds, Scarlett's dad is a millionaire and Jackson was in the foster care system. So good, so hot, can't wait for the next Grayson brother book! *I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Scarlet Ashford is not who she appears to be. To the world, she is portrayed as a pampered princess, when she is truly a down to earth woman with a kind and generous heart. She goes out of her comfort zone to hire a body guard to double as a date for her father's wedding. Enter Jackson Grayson. Sexy and hot as hell do not do the man justice. Jackson's muscle and good looks are just what Scarlet needs to fend off her new step-mother's creepy cousin. What neither Scarlet or Jackson expect is their instant and overwhelming attraction. Too bad the Grayson brothers have one golden rule. DO NOT HAVE SEX WITH A CLIENT. But one time couldn't hurt, right? One time turns into one night which would never be enough for either of them. Phillips combines a story of misconception of status and appearance with chemistry that sets the pages on fire. This is not only a passionate love story, but a lesson of how important it is to not judge a book by the cover. Once Scarlet and Jackson get unforeseen reactions out of each other, there is no way they won't make it work. Thanks so much to Christina Phillips for giving me fun and passionate adventure with Hold Me Until Midnight! Big thanks to Entangled Publishing for gifting me with a copy of Hold Me Until Midnight in exchange for an honest review. I can't wait to read more of the Grayson Brothers Series!
I really enjoyed that his book had an actual story and not just the steaming romance it promised in its blurb. The characters were well developed and deep enough to feel with them. There was a lot of cliché added into the mix, but I guess it comes with the territory and it was ok in this case. The writing is flawless and the dialoges were good adding the real steamy romance I can fully recommend this book So enjoy… > > > I have received this Book as an ARC from the Publisher < < < > > > In Exchange I promised an honest Review < < <
4 stars Hold Me Until Midnight was a great read, I really enjoyed the storyline. Couldn't put it down, read it in one sitting =) I highly recommend this hot and steamy read.
Great Bodyguard romance...oh but so much more than that ***A gifted copy was provided by the publisher for my honest review**** Scarlett Ashford is a heiress who needs a date to her father’s wedding and not just any date, someone who can protect her from harm. She finds and hires Jackson Grayson to be her date/bodyguard for her dad’s wedding. Jackson sees Scarlett and immediately there is a insta-chemistry and he is hooked. He wants her but he knows she is not something he can have-for she is a client. Scarlett is smitten with Jackson but knows nothing probably can come of it. There is so much attraction going on that they end up having a one night stand. And that one night stand led to something else between them, to which they did not know where it would be going. Jackson and Scarlett feel so much for each other but are afraid to confess because they do know know how the other feels for each and do not want to say anything because if the other doesn’t feel the same, then it ends what they have and they have to stop seeing each other. There is so much going on that I could feel how they feel for each other. But they have to stop letting social structure get in the way and realize what they have is real . The two MC in this story are lovely people. Jackson is a definite ALPHA male. He wants to keep the people he loves safe from harm. Then you have Scarlett and she is a sweet woman who is full of fire and backbone yet sassy and sweet. Hold Me Until Midnight is very engaging and sexy. Sweet and Fulfilling. I couldn’t get enough of the brother Grayson. I loved how Jackson and Scarlett finally realized only they mattered. There were some things I had some trouble with –( for ex something happened one moment and then we were 3 weeks later in the story line ). Other than that, this was a good story and I cannot wait to read more about the brothers and their love lives. I loved how Scarlett found who she really was inside and that she found her happiness with Jackson. I loved how Jackson let go of his fears and let Scarlett be his happiness and not let money/social structure rule him with love. My rating: 4.0 stars ****
Every good girl loves a very bad boy... Scarlett Ashford needs a date for her father's wedding. Only she doesn't just need a guy in a suit—she needs a bodyguard. The only problem is that Jackson Grayson is big and gorgeous and way too sexy. So much so that Scarlett's tempted to let this hot bad boy ruin her oh-so-good reputation... Jackson doesn't do relationships and he certainly doesn't sleep with clients. Yet he can't fight their inconvenient attraction, or how badly he wants Scarlett's warm and wicked curves against his body. He wants her. Now. Even if it's just for one night, and even if walking away the next morning isn't as easy as he thought. Besides, one hot and incredibly intense night between a bad boy and a pampered princess could never turn into something real...could it? Review: There are a few different tropes going on in this story; falling for your bodyguard, hiring a date to a wedding to get another man off your back and falling for the boy from the wrong side of the track. Sounds like a big whole cliche, right? The Author I think did a great job of blending these ideas into a fun and enjoyable read. Never did I get bored or not want to read anymore of the story. The characters and story were fun and sexy and kept me entertained until the end. It was a quick read, I started and finished in one afternoon. I have never read this Author before and loved her style and she can write some great sexy scenes. Jackson was my favorite part of the book, he was rugged, alpha and loved his sexy talk, he really steams up the story. Very enjoyable story! Great for when you want a quick, sexy romance. From what I read this the first book about Jackson and is brothers, so I cannot wait to see who gets the next story. 4Stars *Received a copy of this book from the Publisher in exchange for a fair and honest review*
Um, WOW! Jackson and Scarlett Johansson were sexy hot from start to end. I am surprised neither them or myself spontaneously combusted after this one. Goodness he brought out her inner vixen. And in return, she made him even hotter. So deliciously yummy. I loved Scarlett's quick tongue and how she used her words very nicely in her defense. And I thoroughly enjoyed Jackson's alpha possessive skills. This was a very quick, very hot read that was very enjoyable. I hope we see more about these Grayson brothers! I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher.
Loved, loved this book. The hero Jackson was super yummy. He has that Alpha bad boy thing going on for him. He also is dirty talker to go right along with it. What starts out as a business arrangement turns into something very personal. Instant lust for Jackson and Scarlett, but they are from different worlds. How can they make it work? Jackson doesn't do relationships, but there is just something about Scarlett that burrows deep in him. When they come together combustible heat ignites, but is that all they have? Or can they have a future? Will Jackson's past put up roadblocks they can't get over?
Reviewed for Read Your Writes Book Reviews by Kim The premise of Hold Me Until Midnight had all the makings of being a really really good story. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that it’s the first book in a new series about three brothers. Thus, when I got the book, I was excited to read it. Unfortunately, I had some issues with the story. I like the characters of Scarlett Ashford and Jackson Grayson. Scarlett is more than the stuck up society girl the world sees. But I’m a little tired of the high society girl slumming it with the lower class guy storyline. And while I liked Jackson, halfway through the book, I still didn’t really know anything about him, his company, or what the company truly did. Domestic violence plays a role in this book. Not with the main characters, but with their backstories. There is a scene that borders on domestic violence which society may not view that way but it is. I think the author and the publisher for that matter has failed to truly show that it’s not acceptable. I think it would have been appropriate to have information about getting help at the end of the book. **Received a copy from Entangled Publishing in exchange for an honest unbiased opinion.** Rating: 2.5 (I thought the book was okay, but could have been better.)
4 Major tongue penetration stars Scarlett Ashford is about to attend her father’s wedding, not any wedding though. Only Marshall Ashford, head of the Ashford Communications Media. As a consequence, she feels her future stepmother is intent on finding her the ideal chaperone, and Scarlett has had enough of her match making. Her idea is to hire not only a feasible date, but a bodyguard…and she knows just the firm. Jackson Grayson finds himself dazed when Scarlett approaches his business. He’s up for what she proposes, but he is severely doubting his cardinal rule. The ensuing chemistry between these two characters was exceptional. From their cheeky dialogue, through to their sensual melding, was enchanting. I was able to easily adore both characters very quickly. Scarlett for her reluctance to be the stereotypical socialite, and immediate attraction to the Thor like Jackson. Jackson was a special character, who so wanted to relinquish the chains of his past, but felt slightly insecure about any future with Scarlett given their social and economical diversity. However, he more than made his presence known through his bold one liners, and obvious adoration for Scarlett. This was my first read from this author, and I will definitely keep an eye out for her in the future. A most enjoyable, engaging read. Excellent read! Loved the characters of Scarlett and Jackson, and even though the opposites attract storyline isn't anything new, I thought the author did a great job of bringing new life to it! Scarlett needs a date to her father's wedding to avoid being set up with every money hungry bachelor around. She hires Jackson Grayson as a bodyguard/escort to take her to the event. What she didn't bargain on was the intense attraction or the amazing passion they shared during their one night together. Can they find common ground to build on?? You will want to grab a copy of this one and find out. I highly recommend it!
Hold Me Until Midnight by Christina Phillips is a hot and sexy read. The main characters are well-defined and I liked them both from the moment they were first introduced. This is the love story between Scarlett Ashford, a beautiful and rich socialite with a heart of gold, and Jackson Grayson, a gorgeous man who became a success in the security business, despite his horrific upbringing. They are opposites in almost every way, yet they find love while overcoming the obstacles that barricade their road to happiness. The story opens with Scarlett needing a combination date/bodyguard for her father's third wedding. So she hires Jackson for the evening. Scarlett is not a terribly assertive woman, and one of the guests, a sleazeball who also happens to have his nose up her father's very rich butt, constantly harasses her for affection. She hopes that Jackson's presence will be a deterrent, and in the long run it is. Scarlett and Jackson have instant chemistry and they cannot keep their hands off of each other. They have developed real feelings for one another and as result, Jackson returns Scarlet's check for his security services. Over the course of the book, we understand what makes both Scarlett and Jackson tick, as they learn about each other and evolve their sort-of relationship into much more. Jackson's childhood was scary and Ms. Phillips does a nice job of vividly describing the various happenings that evolved Jackson into the success he is today. Scarlett is full of surprises, from her sexual appetite to her need to be independent and help others. Overall, Scarlet and Jackson are wonderful together, and they challenge each other without even knowing it. This is a nicely-written book that kept me engaged from beginning to end. Entangled is synopsis for steamy entertainment. In a nutshell Hold Me until Midnight fits all that criteria. Alpha male meets an equally take charge female who recruits him as her date/bodyguard for a family wedding. Neither expects that their flirty, tension filled relationship will end up flaming out of control. DUH!!!. Very sensual, highly entertaining but not very original. All the ingredients for a great book. Received an ARC for an honest review.
