LOVE ISN'T A GAME . . .

I've given up everything for the chance to play major league baseball. Everything. Now I'm so close I can practically hear the crowd chanting my name. There's nothing that could take my dream away from me . . .

Unless I lose focus. And Ainsley Burke is the most beautiful, distracting woman I've ever met. When I'm with her, I can't think of anything else.

But no matter how much I want Ainsley, there's no room for love in my game plan. I can give her a quick tour of the bases, but that's it. Then I have to let her go. If she wants to think I'm a love 'em and leave 'em player, fine.

All dreams require sacrifice. I just wish this one didn't mean tearing out my own heart.

McLaughlin knocks it out of the park with her second Boys of Summer sports contemporary (after Third Base). Ainsley Burke, raised by a single mother who’s always warned her daughter about the danger of falling for an athlete, has sworn not to date the baseball players who train in her Florida hometown. Then Cooper Bailey, a player for the fictional Boston Renegades, comes to town. While on a media day at the zoo where Ainsley works, Cooper asks Ainsley for her number. She refuses, but her coworker slips him the info, and Ainsley and Cooper begin a red-hot relationship. Soon, though, Cooper’s game starts to worsen—and his overbearing, obnoxious father blames Ainsley, leaving the lovers to make some tough choices. This novel goes above and beyond the typical sports romance with a hot, complex hero and a gutsy, multidimensional heroine, as well as a stellar cast of supporting characters. McLaughlin keeps the pace lively throughout, and just when readers think they have the finale figured out, she throws them a few curveballs. This novel will appeal to McLaughlin’s fans and win her many more. Agent: Marisa Corvisiero, Marisa Corvisiero Literary Agency. (June)

To say that Ainsley Burke has a lot on her plate is a complete understatement, not only is she working full-time, but she is also caring for her ailing mother. Knowing that her mother could leave this earth at any given time weighs heavy on her heart and mind, and the thought of being alone after is more than she can bare. But she has a good friend to help pick her up when things get rough, and she always knows just what Ainsley needs, and right now she thinks Ainsley needs a little fun, and possibly love, in her life. So, she intervenes when a handsome baseball player asks for Ainsley's number, and Ainsley declines his request, and sneaks the number to him. From there the sparks start flying between the two of them, and as much as Ainsley tries not to fall for Cooper Bailey, she does, even though she knows he's bound to leave once spring training is over... question is can their love withstand the distance? Or is he just like all the other athletes her mother warned her about? Cooper Bailey eats, sleeps, and breathes baseball, he wants to play in the big game, and make a name for himself, but there is one thing standing in his way, and the only way he can eliminate that factor is to prove he can fill the shoes of the man holding the spot. So, he dedicates every spare minute he has practicing, he avoids all distractions, and when the rest of the team is going out for drinks, he is at the field putting in extra work. He doesn't date, because for one his lifestyle doesn't really afford him the time for a relationship, and two it is a distraction that could keep him from achieving his goal... but he didn't account for a woman like Ainsley Burke to come into his world! And once she is there he isn't about to let her slip away... distraction or not!! Home Run packs a serious punch, one that is certain to leave a serious dent on your heart! The moment I started this emotionally charged read I was completely addicted, and had no intentions of stopping until I had consumed every last word. I have to say Ms. McLaughlin really got me with this one, her touching story tugged on my heartstrings, and stirred the emotions! These two were both determined to not let love into their lives for fear it would disrupt it, but it was love that they both actually needed all along. Their road to finding their happily ever after was filled with bumps, and a few potholes here and there, but they didn't let it stop them from finding their way, it was quite the journey... and I am happy I had the chance to tag along on the ride!! Highly recommend this series, Ms. McLaughlin's sexy baseball players are sure to score a special place in your heart!! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title. (

Home Run is the perfect blend new adult and sports romance. It pairs Renegades rookie Cooper Bailey (the perfect baseball name) and Ainsly Burke, a spunky girl who cares for her ill mother and works in the zoo. They meet when the team is doing a charity event at the Zoo and neither is really looking for a relationship. Cooper begins to pursue Ainsley and soon they are dating. Things go great for a few weeks, but unfortunately their fling ends before it gets a real start. Tragic circumstances bring them back together and both must decide if they want to pursue a future together. This book captured my attention and soon I had to buy book one in the series. I loved the complex characters, the smart sports references, and the happy ending. Ms. McLauglin is one of my favorite sports romance authors and I highly recommend any of her books! I was given a free copy for an honest review.

The story line is good but everthing is rushed and there are a lot of grammer errors. I have loved all her other books, very disappointed with this book.

I first came across The Boys of Summer series when I read an excerpt for the third book, GRAND SLAM, which won't be out until May, but once that caught my interest, I knew I had to go and read the other two books! I came across the opportunity to join the blog tour for HOME RUN and I jumped at the chance! I'm so glad that I did! I really, really loved Cooper, and I thought that his relationship with Ainsley was adorable! I did think that it could've been flushed out a little better. For example, we were told that they were talking on the phone late at night a bunch of times rather than getting to experience it firsthand, and I felt like Cooper's attitude was a bit flip-floppy at a couple of moments in the book, but other than that, I really enjoyed HOME RUN! I loved their chemistry, and I really loved the moments when they talked and weren't afraid to share their feelings with each other. The romance itself was adorable, and it had a great HEA! Now I can't wait to go back and read the first book in the series, THIRD BASE, featuring Ethan and Daisy!! I'm sure their story will be just as, if not even more, adorable than HOME RUN was! Overall, I thought that this was a very solid romance. The characters were pretty well developed, their chemistry was definitely there and very steamy, and all in all, I was extremely happy with how this story turned out! I'd definitely recommend HOME RUN and the rest of The Boys of Summer series to contemporary romance fans, especially if you've got a soft spot for sports romances like I do! * I received an egalley through Netgalley to participate in the HOME RUN blog tour and give an honest review. All opinions are my own. * This review also appears on my blog and other social media profiles.

This is my first book by this author and it has me wanting to read more. Cooper is a rookie a baseball player when he meets Ainsley at the zoo where she works and they are instantly attracted to each other, however both are hesitant because of their situations Ainsley more so. They decide to give in and try until supervening circumstances change and they part. Both are miserable without each other and just maybe they don't need to be apart, but not everything is easy especially when Cooper is trying to hit a home run and make it and with Ainsley being in a different state, but when they realise they want each other will it be that easy? Can Cooper have the career and the woman of his dreams? Will Ainsley move to be with an athlete who holds her heart? This was very good sports stories, it was one of the more sweet sport reads that I've read and I love sport stories.

Heidi knock it out of the park again. This series just gets better and better. I love COOPER BAILEY. Cooper and Ainsley are so perfect for each other. Their connection is instant but Ainsley won't date another athlete since she was hurt before, but Cooper won't give up on her. Once Ainsley finally gives in they can't stay away from each other. But when a tragedy tears them apart, they both regret ending it like they did. They both think about each other and what could have been. With secrets coming to light will it bring them closer together or more further apart. Will Cooper & Ainsley reunite or will they strikeout? I love all the characters in this series and you can't help but laugh at the craziness that comes out of Travis Kidd's mouth. Once you start reading you will not be able to stop. Can't wait to read Travis's book next.

I love these Boston Renegades!! Heidi McLaughlin's Boys of Summer are full of everything I love - baseball, humorous banter, smokin chemistry and more emotions than I thought possible! Cooper Bailey and Ainsley Burke brought me so many feels over the course of their story. I didn't know how their story could beat Ethan and Daisy's, but man oh man there was just something about them right from the start that made me cheer for them. Even when life was trying to keep them apart, thankfully they find their way. I loved how all the other Renegades and their families are part of the story! Plus if you're a baseball fan then you'll love how spot on Heidi writes and knows the game. Definitely a must read sports romance!!

Heidi can write baseball and romance!!! Cooper is ready to start his rookie season with the Boston Renegades and is eager for the starting position at center field. So the last thing he needs is a pretty strawberry blonde as a distraction. Ainsley is definitely not looking to date especially a baseball player. She has enough on her plate caring for her sick more and her job at the zoo. But Cooper Bailey is relentless and ready to show her not all athletes are bad. I loved watching Cooper chase Ainsley and not give up but with every relationship there is always a curve ball thrown and Cooper and Ainsley have to decide if there relationship will be a Home Run or a just a strike out

What is wrong with this picture? I hate football, baseball, basketball and hockey but am a fan of sports romance. Sarah Robinson and Catherine Gayle got me curious, Skye Jordan and Carly Phillips reeled me in and authors like Heidi McLaughlin, Victoria Denault and Jami Davenport keep me hanging around. Dedicated, opinionated and full of surprises, an athlete on a mission can get the heart racing on and off the field, ice or court. The drama comes when the risks start to outweigh the gain. With Home Run, Ms. McLaughlin strikes all the right cords with her sexy bad boy and his equally tempting bad girl. Home Run has all the tools to make a fan out of a novice like me.
