Home Run: Learn God's Game Plan for Life and Leadership by Kevin Myers, John C. Maxwell

You are invited to live life to the fullest.

For five hard years Christian leader Kevin Myers struggled personally and professionally. But it was during that time that God pointed out where he was going wrong and showed him the biblical pattern for living. It proceeded to transform his life, leadership, ministry, and relationships. During that time John Maxwell also became his mentor.

Together, using a baseball diamond as an analogy for following God's plan for life, Myers and Maxwell provide a clear path forward while helping you keep your priorities in order and your eyes on the prize. What is that pattern?

Connection with God: Winning Dependence
Character: Winning Within
Community: Winning with Others
Competence: Winning Results

Challenging, heart-felt, and insightful, Myers' story will connect with anyone who feels their life is falling short of God's promises. The hard-won lessons Myers learned, along with insightful comments and on-point application from Maxwell, will make it possible for you to win in this performance-based culture without losing your soul.

There are no shortcuts or steals in the spiritual journey of life. HOME RUN is a guidebook for living life and learning how to succeed God's way.

I started to read the book thinking that there probably wasnt much I would learn from yet another book on living life to the fullest. I was so "off base"! The way Kevin Myers presents the concept of running the bases is real, to the point and easy to understand and apply. I absolutely recommend this book to anyone who's tired of the old analogies for living a better life. This book presents things based on true events and adds just the right amount of humor, reality and creativity to make ot a true hit.

This is an excellent book with steps teaching you how to live a great successful life. Chapter 7 is bold, honest and will help with your past family dysfunctional baggage. Give a copy to all friends and family struggling with life issues!

Chapters 1 and 2 lay the groundwork but from Chapter 3 on it is a clear, concise guide on how to live a  Godly life.  So wish I had this book when I was younger!

As the subtitle says, this book will help you learn God’s game plan for life and leadership. Kevin Myers has been sharing this message in his church, in leadership conferences, and now in this book with an assist from John C. Maxwell, a top leadership expert, for a number of years now. Both men have true pastors’ hearts and want to help as many as they can reach learn to live life to the fullest according to God’s plan. Using a baseball diamond as the key visual, Kevin shares how many people in all walks of life want to focus on only one base on the diamond of life while they are failing miserably on the other three. He points out that a baserunner in the game of baseball is out if he misses any of the bases on his way around the diamond. In the same way, people may have significant success on one base but miss out on a truly fulfilled life because of ignoring the other bases. Each base represents a different aspect of our lives. If you want to learn what they are and apply God’s principles to your life, I recommend you get this book and read it. You may find yourself being drawn to read it more than once and study it in detail to get the most benefit from it. As Kevin shares from his heart, John adds his perspective at strategic points and ends each chapter with an application guide and an assignment.

I have not finished the book yet, but so far the quote that most sticks out in my mind is that "God doesn't owe you, He OWNS you."  When the Apostle Paul in Romans 12:1-2, appeals to the readers to present their bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, he isn't merely referring to readers' physical bodies, he is referring to their entire being.  If we are willing to surrender our entire being and live or die in whatever way that God wants, since He OWNS us, we are in a place where God can really transform us and renew our minds.  By living for God, we will discover what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God. I have been a Christian for 18 years and sought God through reading the entire many times, prayer, fasting, sermons, books, classes, fellowship, etc.  However, this book has made me see the scriptures in a new way.  I realize now that while I sought God, I also wanted things my way. I am sharing the book with my adult son and we have both had Holy Spirit encounters from reading this book.  I can't wait to finish the book and see what other insights about God I can learn. P.S.  If you want to read an excellent translation (thought for thought) of Romans 12:1-2 read the translation in The Message.

What real author/writer encourages his flock to go on social media and protest that the book isn't on the NYT Best Seller list?
