Homelessness: Challenges, Causes and Support Programs

Every American has the right to safe, decent, and affordable housing. Yet, homelessness in the United States is an unnecessary and worsening crisis. According to HUD, between 2016 and 2020, homelessness increased in the richest nation on the planet by 6 percent, with more than 580,000 people, including children, experiencing homelessness in January of 2020. The significant economic instability brought by COVID-19 has only increased these numbers.
