If you want to write a book...write a Book! Then market it that way. Don't divide it into 6 pieces and try to sell it as novellas. They're not. They don't stand alone and are really stupid.

Packs a full SEAL romance story into about 50 pages. Formulaic plot, but reasonable well developed characters and backstory. The plot opens with a weekend attack on the U.S. embassy in Pakistan. The ambassador's secretary tries to get him to the safe room - but the ambassador locks himself in his office instead. What unfolds from there is a nicely developed story offering some gradually revealed backstory, romantic elements, and action. For adults only due to language and sex. Sampler of next story in the series is also included afterwards, but its a bit jarring, since instead of present day, in opens with backstory of the Spanish conquistadors to set up the present day treasure hunt.

I couldn't even bring myself to finish one chapter, what can I say...

Too much rambling thoughts, in the place of actual dialog.

Loved the story and the quick come backs between both couples just wished the story was longer.

50 page novella, it was ok but won't read more? Not a cliff hangar but close. GJRA

A great introduction to Julie’s writing if you’ve never read her stuff before, this novella was full of intrigue and suspense I’ve come to love with Julie’s books and her love scenes as always are off the hook good. What I enjoy the most is the buildup via the internal monologue of her characters which casts you as the interloper of their lives. The only reason it wasn’t a five-star read was the length. Too short and while I can appreciate as a writer myself that this was a throw away chapter brought to life, it was a bit too far-fetched to me that the soon to be former navy seal is planning his entire life around a woman he only met but once before this encounter at the embassy. I will read this series because I dig Julie’s writing and can’t wait to see where this series goes.

Harper Searcy is trapped in the U.S. Embassy in Pakistan when it is under terrorist attack. She manages to lock herself in the panic room and call Michael "Mad Dog" Wainwright for help. He and his SEAL team come to rescue her but have several hours of fighting the terrorists before they can get to her. It's still not completely safe for her to come out so Michael locks himself in with her. He'd been trying to reach her after their night together but she'd been avoiding him. He wasn't going to put up with that any more and proceeded to show her how good they were together. Hot as Hell is a very exciting story that is hard to put down. I love SEAL stories and this one was especially good with the SEAL team saving the day by stopping the terrorists and rescuing Harper. This novella is well written and easy to follow with a great HEA. Harper is a strong, brave woman who handles the attack quite well. Even when her boss locked her out of the office, she didn't freak out. I liked the way Michael was calm, cool and collected while in SEAL mode but wasn't quite so confident of Harper. This is a good military romance that I recommend.

Hot As Hell by Julie Ann Walker is a fairly short read, a perfect choice for those with limited time available for reading. Ms Walker has furnished this book with lovable characters, action, suspense and sizzle. Harper and Michael's story is a fast paced and has a bit of humor to lighten things up. I enjoyed Hot As Hell and look forward to reading more from Julie Ann Walker in the future. Hot As Hell is book 0.5 of the Deep Six Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

Love Julie Ann Walker's books! Harper Searcy is trapped in the United States Embassy and it is under attack. No one is coming to save them and the group of SEALs that had been on their guard were called off and sent to another job. Harper knows that the only person she can rely on is Michael. She and Michael had a one night stand that she was still thinking about, but it always came down to the one thing she couldn't get past, his military career. She didn't want to fall in love with or have a life with someone in the military! Too bad that their physical connection was so strong. Michael was shocked when he received Harper's call after months of her ignoring him and having zero contact, but when he realized that she was in danger nothing would stop him and his team from getting her out of danger. One way or another he was going to make her see how much she meant to him. I'm definitely looking forward to reading more books in this series.

Very short prequel for Julie Ann Walker's new series. As a fan of her other books, and after reading this prequel, I can't wait to read the next book! Very hot and steamy and definitely 18+. Michael and his team of Navy Seals had been protecting the U.S. Embassy in Pakistan due to threats. Harper is the Secretary to the Ambassador. While there, Michael and Harper get involved after an Embassy party. He and his team leave for another mission and just as they are coming back the embassy is attacked. Harper manages to get a call out to Michael as she flees to the panic room. Harper vowed never to get involved with a man in the military. Will Michael change her mind about them having a future together? This prequel is a great introduction to the characters in the Deep Six series.
