I've never met a Jill Shalvis book I didn't love! Hot Winter Nights was hysterical and steamy and heartwarming all at once. The heroine, Molly, has a disability from a traumatic injury and has to deal with people thinking she is weak and needs protecting because of it. Along comes Lucas. He sees her as a strong, self-sufficient woman capable of doing anything she wants. You just can't help loving a guy like that. And then there's that body... This book had a little mystery (Bad Santa type) going for it, which is unusual for a Shalvis book. She added lots of laughs along with the intrigue that keeps you giggling through it. This was just a great book. I adore the writer's sense of humor (I think we both have the same strange sense of humor--kindred spirits?). Ms. Shalvis never fails to leave me happier at the end of a book than I was when I started it! All I can say is she can't die before I do--or at least stop writing before I die!

Humor, romance and adventure are all part of this delightful series. Molly has worked her way from receptionist, to office manager and now also IT researcher. But her brother Joe, and the other alpha males that work at Hunt Investigations are not ready to allow her to go into the field in any of the investigations. When her neighbor comes to her with a case, but Archer turns it down because they are already over booked, she decides to take the case herself. Smart enough not to go it alone, she blackmails Lucas into helping her, not knowing that as he has still not been cleared for duty, still recovered from the bullet wounds received in the previous book, Archer has assigned him to keep an eye on her. They both have had loss and hurt and believe that love hurts too much, but since this is a romance, find that they can't ignore the attraction. Which almost gets them killed. But nevertheless, there is a HEA.

Molly Malone works as receptionist for Hunt Investigations but wants to be an investigator like her brother Joe. Joe as well as Archer Hunt want to keep Molly safe and don’t think she’s ready to take on a case. She disagrees and Archer tells Lucas Knight, one of his investigators, to keep an eye on Molly. The more Lucas is around Molly, he finds it had to keep his hands off of her. Only the knowledge that her brother Joe would kill him makes Lucas step back. But Molly has her own ideas about Lucas. Sweet love story.

Molly is ready for the next step in her career. She wants to be an active participant in a case at Hunt Investigations, the company she works for. Because of an overprotective brother this isn’t happening though, until the company decides not to accept a bad Santa case. Instead, Molly takes it to prove she’s just as capable as the men she’s working for. The only coworker who’s backing her up is Lucas. He believes in Molly, but they are in a complicated situation. Lucas was on medical leave because of being shot, when one night Molly ended up in his bed. He can’t remember what happened though, will she tell him and will she allow him to help her with the case? Molly and Lucas are a good team. Lucas would love to get to know her better, but the traumatized Molly has built a large wall around her heart. Because of their bad Santa case Molly and Lucas spend a lot of extra time together. Will she give him a chance to come closer when sparks fly? What will happen when their case appears to be much more serious than they thought, can they handle solving it together or are they in over their heads? Hot Winter Nights is a fabulous gripping romantic story. Molly is fierce, independent and brave. I liked her fiery spirit a lot. Lucas is a gentle, but heartbroken man and when he’s with Molly he feels lighter and more alive. I loved how well he knows her and how much he likes her. It was wonderful to witness his determination to make Molly his and I couldn’t wait to find out if he’d succeed. Or not. There are plenty of sparks between them and I was eager to find out if they’d be ready to give love another chance. Jill Shalvis knows how to write about love. I always like how well her main characters fit together. It’s fun to see if they will find their happily ever after. I’ve read a lot of her books and her compelling descriptive writing always manages to captivate me straight from the beginning. I enjoyed Molly and Lucas’s story very much. They’re special people who deserve to find their soul mate. Hot Winter Nights is wonderfully charming and delightfully entertaining with plenty of chemistry and a nice dosage of suspense.

We are back with book 6 in the Heartbreaker Bay series by Jill Shalvis! And Hot Winter Nights simply has it all! Falling in love with his friend's sister, a bunch of crazy grandmas and staking out Santa! Hot Winter Nights is Molly Malone's book, and if you have read any of the other Heartbreaker Bay series, then you know Molly is PI Joe Malone's (About That Kiss) sister, and with her overbearing brother and hardcore father who is the takes the grumpy old man award, add to that her injuries that she sustained as a teen and her unrequited love for Lucas Knight, her co-worker at Hunt Investigation. So when some elderly friends need help, and everyone around her says no, Molly sticks out on her own. After suffering a gunshot wound, that has cause Lucas to be off work from Hunt Investigation for a few weeks, has driven Lucas mad! Not only is he missing the gritting PI life, but working with his best friends Joe and Archer, but he can't even push his luck and go back early, cause Archer is also his boss. But when he wakes next to this hot redhead who turns out to be Molly, he is torn. He knows he wants Molly, but he can't "have" her! Not only because of the bro code but because he doesn't feel worthy of her love. But when Archer tells Lucas to watch out for Molly on her investigation, that is putting too much temptation in the way! But this book is more than just a simple romance, this book is about taking a chance, learning to live with your past and being a stronger person, even when everyone around you wants to wrap you in cotton! And that is one of the other things I love about Jill Shalvis writing, there is always a bigger picture.

Hot Winter Nights is book six in the .Heartbreaker Bay series but it can totally be read as a standalone book. In my crazy world it is my safe place when I can read one of Jill Shalvis' novels. Because they never let you down. Like this new book. It has been a fun read just like all the other books. So I'm in love again. With the characters, with the story. (How on earth could I not fall in love with a book, where there is a bad Santa with his adorable elves?) I had been waiting for Molly's and Lucas' story as I could feel their chemistry in the previous book. But there ist the problem: Molly is off limits for Lucas for she is the little sister of his colleague and friend, Joe. So he is in denial mode, of course. He says they should forget the night which they spent together. And which he craves to remember so hard because he is attracted to her so much of course. Just like Molly to him. I loved how Lucas treated Molly with all her trust issues and scars. Lucas believed in her and saw her like no one else. All the men in the office like Molly very much which means they are overprotecting and never let her try her wings. But Lucas does. He offers his help (at first he has to, as his boss charged him with that) and they work together. So he can soon realise how wonderful, strong, and amazing she is. So he falls after all. And he falls hard. I loved to see them both let their walls down. If you would like to read a very good book with a little suspense, which you cannot put down, go for it! I can highly recommend it!

Molly is a strong woman who knows what she wants and will not cower just because her boss, her brother and the guy she has a crush on - Lucas are all alpha men who just wants to protect her. Lucas is a great match for her. Despite being protective, he sees her abilities and does not hold her back. Their chemistry are just off the charts and it was great following them on their investigation on "Bad Santa", "Tommy Thumbs" and "Mrs Claus. Can't wait for the next book.

Show more Review Lindas Book Obsession Review of “Hot Winter Nights” by Jill Shalvis Jill Shalvis, Author of “Hot Winter Nights” has written an engaging, entertaining, witty, romantic and captivating novel. The Genres for this novel are Fiction, Women’s Fiction, Mystery and Romance. Jill Shalvis describes her colorful characters as quirky, complex, and complicated. Have you ever heard of a “Naughty or Bad Santa?” It seems that several senior citizen “elves” are waiting at Hunt Investigations for Molly Malone, office manager to help make Christmas right. This is not a case that Hunt Investigation usually deals with, and if the bosses, or Molly’s brother who works there has anything to say about it, this is not a case for them. Usually Molly is there, and the elves are waiting. Where is Molly? It seems that one of the employees, Lucas Knight, recovering from a gunshot wound and on strong pain medication, had just a little “drink” the night before and finds himself out cold in bed. When he wakes up, he realizes that he has the company of an attractive brunette all wrapped in his blankets. Would you like to take a guess who that guest might be? Just keep in mind that Molly’s brother works at the agency, and is very protective of his sister. It does seem that these “elves” are convinced that there is a scam going on at the “Christmas Village”, and the workers and “elves” that work there are being underpaid. There seems to be a BINGO game that is making lots of money. When Hunt Investigations is aware that Molly might choose to get involved, they ask Lucas to watch out or babysit her. Little does anyone realize what is really going on, or the possible danger. I would recommend this romantic and easy read to those readers who enjoy a Romantic and enjoyable story.

Lucas works for a security and investigation firm but – due to being in ‘light duty’ – has been tasked to ‘babysit’ his boss’s sister Molly on her first big assignment. He can already tell this will go bad, especially since they supposedly spent the night together (too bad he can’t remember that). Molly is fiercely independent and she doesn’t need a man to babysit her; she could use with a partner though. She blackmails him into helping her but then quickly realized that the more time they spend together the harder it is to resist doing more. There was so much going on in this book – I think I was hooked from the very first chapter. And every time I thought I had figured out how the book was going to go, the author shook it up on me. The connection between the Hero and the heroine is perfect; they’re both hardened by past events but together they work to overcome everything and realize they may be better together. The cast of characters around them add humor and depth to the story and just make it that much better. This is not an afternoon read – Amazon has it listed at 384 pages, but in addition to the length there really is a lot of information packed into the book. You’ll love every minute spent reading it though! **4.5 Stars - I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader copy of this book.

Lucas has been just drifting through life until Molly woke up in his bed. Molly wants a chance as an investigator but Archer won’t let her. Finding a case to investigate on her own is her chance to prove herself. Lucas is asked to watch over her but ends up falling hard for her. Now to convince her to take a chance.

OMG--Lucas! and Molly! So worth the wait :) Molly--kinda, sorta--finally gets a chance to investigate a case (it's almost with her boss's approval...), the "bad Santa" case the blurb hints at. It's pretty much everything you hope it will be--pretty dangerous, with a side of slightly ridiculous (OMG, the elf costumes. And the geriatric co-workers...) and Lucas is exactly the partner that she needs for the job. He doesn't tell her "it's too dangerous" or coddle her like her brother and boss probably would have, and she returns the favor by not being TSTL throughout. I won't tell you who saves the day in the end, but it's not him. ;) On top of that, their chemistry (of course!) is the reason for the "hot winter nights" of the title. When those two are on the page--even if it's a page that she happens to be less than happy with him on--just. Watch. Out. I can't wait for future series books, and not just to see what's in store for the rest of the gang but also to get more glimpses of Molly and Lucas as they live out their HEA. I love this group of characters! :) Hot Winter Nights, like the rest of the books in the series, should work just fine as a standalone. Although all of the characters that Ms. Shalvis has created for this series are constantly up in each others' business (in a good way! Kind of...) you don't have to have read the other books to appreciate this one. I'm not saying you won't want to, though... Rating: 4 1/2 stars / A- I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Hot Winter Nights was so much fun to read. Every time I finish a Jill Shalvis book I have the biggest stupid grin on my face. Her books just make me happy. Molly wants more responsibility at Hunt Investigations but her brother Joe won't allow it. She is a more than capable office manager but that's all she's allowed to do. When neighbors come to Molly with a case she can't resist helping. Her bother, Joe, knows he can't stop her from helping so he asked his best friend, Lucas, to keep eye on her.....keep her safe and out of trouble. Lucas keeps insisting that Molly is off limits BUT you know what they say about forbidden fruit....??? Suspense, lots of chemistry and humor round out a book that doesn't disappoint. Hot, humorous and oh so fun! With the next book in her much loved Heartbreaker Bay series, Jill Shalvis brings us Lucas and Molly's story. They're a really adorable couple together, and as we learn more about each of their pasts, it only brings them closer to our hearts. I felt like the bad Santa case was a bit weak, but the relationship between Lucas and Molly was so enriched that it made it a great book regardless! Really enjoyed them! Lucas Knight is blown away by the fact that he woke up with Molly Malone in his bed ... and can't remember a thing about how she got there! Did they ... or didn't they? Molly is quick to lay on the details in an exaggerated way ... which leads him to think she might be yanking his chain. Wouldn't he remember? Molly might be pulling a fast one on Lucas, but if she finds out that he's been sent to babysit her as she takes on her first case, there will be consequences! A bad Santa stealing from his elves is sure to keep her attention as she delves. When sparks keep flying anytime she and Lucas are in the same vicinity of each other, they eventually stop resisting!

What a great read! Molly and Lucas were all sorts of fun and I just loved the mystery surrounding “Bad Santa.” There was plenty of chemistry between these two and I loved the snark and banter that added some laughter throughout. I really loved both Lucas and Molly. Even though they both have issues from their past that they have let shape their lives, once these two got a taste of one another it was hard for either of them to deny that what they had was more than something casual. I loved watching their relationship develop as they worked together on the bad Santa case and found themselves sharing more of their personal lives with each, especially when they got to visit with each other’s family. Molly is so smart, capable, and strong, and I loved that Lucas respected that and let her take the lead on the case they were working. I also loved that Molly knew when she needed to call for backup and wasn’t afraid to let Lucas know when she needed him. What I probably loved most was the banter between the two – some of their conversations were so much fun and Molly very rarely let a conversation go by that she didn’t try to interject some humor into. One of the best things about this book is the family that has been formed from all of the friends that are brought together in this series and offer up a supporting role, and we are treated to not just learning more about the main characters in the book, but we often get to learn more about many of the supporting characters to keep the series arc fresh as well. There is such a unique setting in the series – taking place in San Francisco, but focusing, for the most part, on the apartment building with its magical fountain where most of the characters either work or live – and it works so well bringing a small town feel to the book and series. This is book 6 in the series but can be read as a stand-alone. There are so many great characters in this series it would be a shame not to start at the beginning though! Hot Winter Nights is another wonderful read from Jill Shalvis and definitely worth checking out! I received an advance reader copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

Every time I start a Heartbreaker Bay series book, no, any Jill Shalvis book, I start with a grin on my face. It begins with the hashtag chapter titles and I always close the book with a happy sigh – and again, I’m grinning. Shalvis creates these wonderful communities, with fantastic characters and interesting and unique situations, and romance, oh the romance!! Hot Winter Nights embodies all of these qualities. There’s an element of forbidden love as co-workers Molly Malone and Lucas Knight discover a connection and take on a case involving bad Santa’s and a few elderly elves. These characters have been on the peripheral of all of the stories in this series and I’m so glad they finally got their own book. Molly stood out in big brother Joe’s book, but Lucas has always been a bit of a mystery. He’s recovering from a work injury, sidelined a bit, and maybe not making some of the best decisions. For Molly, she’s looking to strike out on her own a bit in order to expand on her role with Hunt Investigations. Through this the two are brought deliciously closer. There’s plenty of things that stand between them, but they are both inspired to work through personal issues and the issue of their status as co-workers – and it’s likely Joe and Archer will frown upon a relationship with them. There are so many great moments between and I found myself rooting for them from #MorningAfterNumberOne. Their partnership on the Bad Santa case lands both in some precarious positions and Shalvis weaves in a fair amount of danger and a few super angsty moments. More then once I found myself wiping my eyes of tears from happiness, laughter and from heartache. Mostly happiness and laughter. 4.5 stars and my recommendation.

Molly and Lucas work together. After a night of drinking, Molly takes Lucas home and sleeps in his bed. But she leads him to believe that they slept together. She’s been crushing on him for awhile and is enjoying messing with him about this. She wants to break down his walls and get a shot with him. But these two have sparks and those sparks ignite! Marcus loses his battle trying to stay away from Molly, but will have to tell his bosses, who are also her brothers. There is suspense throughout this story as Molly attempts her first case, against her brothers directives. And definitely some steam thrown in! Definitely a story you will enjoy.

This was just adorable. Molly has been the receptionist for Hunt Investigations, but longs to be an investigator. Thanks to an overprotective big brother, though, that's unlikely to happen. Lucas has lost a lot in life - mostly the people closest to him. When Molly stumbles across a case, Lucas is tasked with helping her and making sure she doesn't get hurt. Of course it isn't long before they both realize that the chemistry they have isn't going anywhere. I know I say it every time I review a Heartbreaker Bay book, but I really love this world that Shalvis has created. There's heat, but compassion and so much heart. There's friendship and caring, and in some cases, like this one, a little suspense to keep you on your toes. When it turns out that Molly's case is actually something that could be very dangerous, Lucas wants to do everything in his power to protect. But Molly is stubborn and completely finished with alpha males telling her what to do. She's also smart and doesn't play into the damsel in distress caricature. This sixth Heartbreaker book just shows again how Shalvis is able to create these realistic characters that you find yourself rooting for. The conflict between Molly and Lucas (his need to protect her/her wanting to prove herself as something other than damaged) felt real to me. Everyone should read this series!

Love this book by - it's the perfect combination of romance comedy & suspense! So many interesting characters in this book, from the old lady elves to bad Santa to Mollie and Joe's Dad. Molly and Lucas are both strong characters. They've got sizzling chemistry and I love the witty banter between the two of them.

5 star I was pulled right into this story. The story has pain, secrets, second chances, and heartbreak. Before reading this story please read the below books first Sweet Little Lies (Heartbreaker Bay #1) The Trouble with Mistletoe (Heartbreaker Bay #2) One Snowy Night (Heartbreaker Bay #2.5) Accidentally on Purpose (Heartbreaker Bay #3) Chasing Christmas Eve (Heartbreaker Bay #4) Holiday Wishes (Heartbreaker Bay #4.5) About That Kiss (Heartbreaker Bay #5) This is Molly and Lucas’s story. Molly is the office manager but also wants to be in the field solving cases. One night taking care of Lucas that he can’t remember all that well and she has a protector and partner. When some ladies ask for her help and her boss will not take the case she knows she is going to help no matter what. The more time they spend together the more they learn about each other. Molly is used to taking care of herself. Having to rely on a partner is just not her style. Can she handle the case and all the danger it comes with? Or will she trust the wrong person and end up hurt in the end? I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read. I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from this author.

Jill Shalvis has a gift of writing humor and chemistry in equal parts. It makes each of her books a fun way to spend a day. Each hero in her stories becomes my new favorite. Lucas was no different. He is a tough guy that is a marshmallow on the inside especially when it comes to Molly. Molly was a fun heroine. Both have had some horrible events in their pasts that make them reluctant to get close to anyone. But after a night that Lucas lets his guard down, there is no turning back. Their journey to their happily ever after is a bit of a roller coaster - there is suspense, humor, heat and Elf costumes! how can you not enjoy this story. I love the cameos from the other characters in the Heartbreaker Bay series and the hints at the next story in the series. I can hardly wait to go back! I received an advance copy for an honest review.

I loved the playful relationship between Molly and Lucas. They made a great team as they paired up for Molly's first case representing a few Christmas elves. I enjoyed the suspense and loved the humorous moments during Molly and Lucas's adventure in the Christmas Village. Hot Winter Nights is another great addition to the Heartbreaker Bay series. As always, it was fun catching up with everyone from Hunt Investigations, as well as Old Man Eddie. The characters in this series are some of my favorites. I especially loved Lucas's mom! I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary Advance Reader Copy.

Jill Shalvis never fails to hit it out of the park with each book she writes. This is book 6 in the Heartbreaker Bay series and it is another awesome read. She makes you fall in love with and root for her characters. She also has the skills to put together great couples that you can't get enough of. Molly and Lucas were no different. Molly is strong and independent and kick butt. Lucas is an alpha man that doesn't do relationships. Well never say never. I totally recommend this book but I also recommend reading the previous books because seriously why wouldn't you!

I have been counting down the days until it was time for Molly and Lucas’s story and It was worth the wait! Jill Shalvis outdid herself with their love story. I love her books she has strong believable/relatable female leads who are loved/cherished by their alpha males! Lucas is recovering from his gunshot wound and is allowed back at work but only in the capacity of keeping Molly, his best friends little sister and his boss's assistant safe. Molly is forbidden by her boss to take on the elves case but it is Christmas and she can't turn her back on her friends. Molly has to work with Lucas to solve the case. It ends up blowing up but not in a good way as these two fall head over heels for each other. The story is the perfect mix of suspense and romance with a dash of comedic gold. It is the perfect holiday read!

Lucas and Molly work together. He’s one of the Alpha males, no stranger to danger, and at this time, injured. She’s the office manager, who keeps being told NO by her boss and her brother who also happen to be Alpha males and want to keep her safe. Lucas also ended up naked, in his bed, with Molly, and she’s going to use that to her best advantage!! Molly’s elderly friends think they’re being taken advantage of where they work, and Molly thinks this is her chance to prove herself and sets out to help her buddies. Of course her brother and her boss find out and send, not cleared for work Lucas, to keep an eye on Molly, still not knowing of the naked encounter, because then they’d just kill him. Hilarity ensues. I’m loving the Heartbreaker Bay series and Hot Winter Nights, the newest in the series, is a ton of fun! Molly and Lucas play off of each other so well! Visits to Lucas’s family, Molly’s Dad with a gun, trying to keep their naked encounters on the down low from the rest of the group, Molly as an elf, and Lucas as a Santa in bad tights…SO MUCH FUN! Ms. Shalvis writes books that I read in one sitting. If I need an emotional pick me up, or a funny, easy, read, she’s my go to author!
