Overview

The first book in Molly Harper's uproariously funny, sinfully sexy new Mystic Bayou series!

Anthropologist Jillian Ramsay's career has taken a turn south.

Concerned that technology is about to chase mythological creatures out into the open (how long can Sasquatch stay hidden from Google maps?), the League for Interspecies Cooperation is sending Jillian to Louisiana on a fact-finding mission. While the League hopes to hold on to secrecy for a little bit longer, they're preparing for the worst in terms of human reactions. They need a plan, so they look to Mystic Bayou, a tiny town hidden in the swamp where humans and supernatural residents have been living in harmony for generations. Mermaids and gator shifters swim in the bayou. Spirit bottles light the front porches after twilight. Dragons light the fires under crayfish pots.

Jillian's first assignment for the League could be her last. Mystic Bayou is wary of outsiders, and she has difficulty getting locals to talk to her. And she can't get the gruff town sheriff, Bael Boone, off of her back or out of her mind. Bael is the finest male specimen she's seen in a long time, even though he might not be human. Soon their flirtation is hotter than a dragon's breath, which Bael just might turn out to be...

This book is based on the Audible Original audiobook.

This is about Jillian going to Louisiana on a fact-finding mission for the League. Jillian was to go to Mystic Bayou to learn what is happening there and report back to the League so they will know. Jillian got there and find herself looking at a big tall of a man when she got to the mayor's office the guy was named Bael Boone the sheriff. The town is not what it seams likes because of the swamp and the lights. The town has all kinds of creatures in it. But now it is time to buy the book to find out what happens to the people. It is worth having and reading. I will be buying more from this author.

So much fun! Mystic Bayou is in the same world as Harper's other series (Jane Jameson, Half-Moon Hollow, and Naked Werewolf) but from a slightly different angle--there's ever so many more supernatural creatures out there than humans know about so far, unless you happen to be involved in the still-somewhat secret group the League for Interspecies Cooperation. Dr. Jillian Ramsay is sent out to Mystic Bayou, Louisiana in order to figure out if the town, which boasts an unusually high supernatural-to-human ratio, could be a model going forward for other towns once the inevitable "big reveal" happens and everyone around the world knows just who--or what--their neighbors really are. Of course she meets all kinds of fun and quirky characters--both human and magie (supernatural)--and of course she's crazy attracted to the town sheriff, who happens to be a dragon shifter. Not having the benefit the readers do of knowing the title of the book, though, it takes her ages to figure out what exactly he is (because it's rude to ask, naturally). Watching for the clues along the way is a lot of fun, though, as is how she finally figures it out... This series has dual POVs, which is a change for Ms. Harper, and the two narrators of the audio version did a fantastic job. I can't wait to see what will happen next in Zed's (the mayor, and a bear shifter) book, Love and Other Wild Things. As Bael's BFF here, he was an absolute riot as he watched his friend fall in love--and teased him mercilessly about it. I cannot wait to see him get what is coming to him on the way to his own HEA! NUMBER OF HEARTS: 4 How to Date your Dragon is the first book in a new series by Molly Harper. They Mystic Bayou takes us to a small town in Louisiana. A small town that has huge secrets and not fond of outsiders. I really enjoyed Jillian and Bael’s romance. It was great fun to watch the uppity sheriff try and fail to not fall for the beautiful outsider that could ruin everything in there tiny little town. It was fun to watch Jillian learn all about Mystic Bayou and its secrets. I really enjoyed this story. Molly does a wonderful job (as always) building us a world of magic and paranormals. And of course this book had classic Molly Harper snark that will make you laugh out loud when you are alone in the car (so be prepared to get some funny looks) I had the pleasure of listening to it on audio. I am not a huge fan of double narrators in my audio books. Mostly because I don’t like the the crossover of when the male and female have to do the same voices and they are off. I understand that some people really love it. But I am not one of them. It won’t stop me from listening to this series in the future, but it won’t be my favorite. I am very excited for the next installment in this series!! Bring on the very cuddly and sweet Mayor of Mystic Bayou!!!! Disclaimer: This review is my own opinion and not a paid review.

Snarky funny comments, sexy times, and little mystery thrown in. What more can you need in a great romance. Entertaining as always.?

This book grabbed my attention from the start. I read this in one sitting. It had humor, romance, action and mystery. I have read about 10 of the authors books and loved everyone. I'm looking forward to a second in this series.
