I never thought I'd be a victim of domestic violence. I grew up in a loving family and had a happy childhood. But when I met my husband, he quickly became controlling and abusive. I tried to leave him many times, but he always found a way to manipulate me into coming back.

One day, after a particularly brutal beating, I finally found the strength to leave for good. With the help of my family, friends, and the Anson County Domestic Violence Council, I was able to rebuild my life.
