I Am: A 60-Day Journey to Knowing Who You Are Because of Who He Is by Michele Cushatt

From the moment a woman wakes until she falls, exhausted, on her pillow, one question plagues her at every turn:

Am I enough?

The pressure to do more, be more has never been more intense. Online marketing. Self-help books. Movies, magazines and gym memberships. Even church attendance and social media streams have become a means of comparing ourselves to impossible standards. Am I pretty enough? Hip enough? Spiritual enough?

We fear the answer is “No.”

When a brutal bout with cancer changed how she looked, talked, and lived, Michele Cushatt embarked on a soul-deep journey to rediscover herself. The typical self-esteem strategies and positivity plans weren’t enough. Instead, she needed a new foundation, one that wouldn’t prove flimsy when faced with the onslaught of day-to-day life.

With raw personal stories, rock-solid biblical teaching, and radical truths on which to rebuild your life, I Am will help you:

• End the barrage of negative self-talk with an empowering new narrative.

• Refuse to ride the rollercoaster of others’ opinions and start believing what God’s says about you.

• Stop agonizing over past regrets and failures and make peace with God’s sovereign plan for your life.

• Leave insecurity behind as you exchange temporary fixes for an identity established on God’s unchanging affection.

I Am reminds us that our value isn’t found in our talents, achievements, relationships, or appearance. It is instead found in a God who chose us, sent us, and promised to be with us—forever.

I Am...a powerful devotional written by a very genuine woman. Do you know who you are? As I grow older I know who I am but not who I am in Christ. I have a stronger desire to live for Him. On the pages of this book Michele helps each of us over 60 days of reading from I Am Created to I Am Going Home. At the end of each day she leaves us with a thought provoking Who Am I question. Take your time and enjoy your next 60 days. I know you won't regret it. Buy an extra for a friend so you can journey together learning who you are because of who He is.

Who Am I? I am Created! I am Sinful! I am Seen! I am Not Alone! I am Broken! I am Rewarded! But most of all, I am a daughter of the One who created us and all things! Michele Cushat has written a beautiful, heartfelt book that can be read as a 60 day devotional, but I wanted to continue reading more each day! I had moments of laughter, tears, heartache, and just about every other emotion you can imagine, as I read through I Am! This book will give you all the faith and confidence to believe that you are who God says you are! You are His, He created you to be exactly who you are! Michele's honesty and transparency are absolutely remarkable! This book has blessed me more each time I pick it up to read it! I am so grateful for the opportunity to read it! I Am has given me a deeper peace in knowing that I am enough! I recommend this book to everyone, no matter if you are searching for God, or if you have been a Christian for many years, this book will change your life! This book is not a book that will be put in the closet, on the shelf, this book will stay close by my side so that I can read it and savor it over and over again!

This 60-day devotional is Cushatt's journey to learning who she is as she rebuilt her life. I am is broken into 6 main parts that reflect the overall story of the Bible. Creation Exodus Covenant Presence Rescue Revelation Each day reflects a passage of scripture, shares a story or experience from Cushatt, a thought from a well-known theologian and some questions to reflect on and pray through. Each day of this devotional seeks to reject the lies of not being enough and remind us of who God created us to be. Created. Safe. Fought For. Heard. Accepted. Blessed. Broken. Healed. Delivered. These are just a few of the characteristics in I Am. I enjoyed working my way through this devotional. I wish that a bit more time had been focused on unpacking the specific scripture and how it applied to the trait being discussed each day. It's not enough to rely on personal experience. We must learn how to apply the scripture truths and promises to our lives so that we can actually adopt these truths for ourselves. I received a copy of this book from BookLook Bloggers. This review is my own, honest opinion.

I AM A 60-Journey To Knowing Who You Are Because Of Who He Is. By Michele Cushatt The author shares 60 powerful stories revealing one ultimate truth. You are enough. The book is divided into six sections; Creation, Exodus, Covenant, Presence, Rescue and Revelation. Each section has ten daily reading of a story, Bible verse a quote and a section titled Who Am I. The stories that are shared are from everyday life situations that we all can relate to. Some are about family, health and things that we all have or could come up against. The devotions are each to understand and will help you to know who you are with God. A quote from the back of the book; ” I Am reminds us that our value isn’t found in our talents, achievements, relationships, or appearance. It is instead found in a God who chose us, sent us, and promised to be with us----forever.” The book is very easy to read and inspiring. You will get a better understanding of who you are and who God is. A book you may want to read again and/or share with others. I received this book free from the publisher through the BookLook Bloggersbook review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. Michele tapped into my deep soul hunger --- the one that longs for something deeper than well-meaning pep talks and nods of approval from others. I found myself laughing, crying and spending time with the truths she shared and I finished the book with a richer fullness of who God says I AM!!

I AM So, you are on this journey called L" if" E. Grab a cup of coffee, or a cup of hot tea, this book is going to grab you where it hurts, help you devote yourself to prayer and yet best to know that God has entered the scene. you are enough=God 's chosen to lead, open up and visit the many places of the desert roads most would quit before they turned thirty. Michele, Author of I AM has captured our hearts, set our minds at rest and reveals Our Savior to us as the Great I AM-who can and will be there for you and me. As you read, you will know to who you belong and to whom you belong, by the time you reach page nine, faith and trust. Percept upon percept. A sixty-day journey that will build your faith and trust. Mountain moving hope, Anchor in His eye. Each day’s journey will lead you wanting to know more. Plan to cry and laugh and find a new view ahead each day’s journey. There's a verse each day to soak, with hope in the middle and a knowing in the end. Filled with scriptures to fill you up and lead the way. what an honor it is to journey with my dear new friend, Michele Cushatt, who has poured out her heart, page after page adding to L"if"E. This part that spoke to me: I must continue to learn. Who I AM? I Am Seen And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Matthew 10:30 I will never outgrow God's classroom. His eye is on the sparrow. You have a place at the King's Table. Covenant. You will always eat at My Table. The King already has a place with your name on it. And one with mine. We no longer need to struggle and strain to squeeze into relationships. That isn't where we're supposed to pull up a chair anyway. instead, as we love and lead, we can settle into the one chair made especially for us. Secure once and for all. Only then will we have eyes for the invisible. O’how powerful, are the words of the Author of I AM. A voice of David and a table filled with misfits called by a King. Psalm 91:14, I Am Rescued, because he loves me...I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges My name. Page after page you will "be becoming" all the most wonderful radical, biblical teachings, personal stories rebuilding your heart from the inside out. Reading I AM, you will come away with you are enough, and who He says you are. I hope Michele Cushatt, will get to writing a daily devotional to go along with this new book adventure to share together with our coffee and hot tea, to journey together with friends. It will open your thoughts to trust again. To reveal your most touched emotions, created and healed for the King of glory. WHO AM I: ENOUGH.

I love the heart behind this book. How many of us struggle with who we really are in Christ?? Most of us, I think. This book helps us discover who we truly are - in the eyes of the One who made us. I highly recommend it - and not just for women!

Michele Cushatt skillfully weaves the ordinary details of life into a narrative that reminds us we belong to God. Who we are is entirely determined by who we are to him. This devotional is at once effortless reading and deep soul truths. I can hardly wait to start reading it again!

This book is such a God send! It came at a point in my life, when, after serving the Lord for twenty-plus years, realized my identity was wrapped up in what I do, not in who I am—a child of God. The Lord used Michele powerfully to challenge the perception I had, and to clearly see myself from God's perspective. "I Am" is a powerful devotional, and the Body of Christ will glean from Michele’s transparency, and her story. It is more than a book, it is manual for helping us dig deep and finding our identity in the Lord and in His Word.

Michele is one of my favorite authors and has a way of speaking straight to my heart. I love how this book is made up of 60 short chapters. It is just enough for me to contemplate each day. Michele can amazingly speak great truth from God's Word in just a few pages. I love that she wrote this book from the perspective of wanting to find out who she was after facing cancer for a third time instead of from a place of expertise. Her honesty and rawness come right off the pages. It is so easy to forget that if I don't know who He, God, is, I don't really know who I am. Michele reminds us of this on this 60 day journey.

I am really enjoying this book! I love how Michele writes with just the right combination of personal stories, humor, and biblical insight. There are 60 days of "I Am" statements that remind us of who we are in Christ, and I appreciate how it is not too long and not too short but packed with enough punch to get the point across so you can meditate on it the rest of the day. I love this quote from Day 1, "I Am Created" because it's so true yet I had never thought of it before: "Why do you and I struggle to see ourselves as marvelous creations of an artistic God? Perhaps because we're too caught up in the flaws to be captivated by the glory..... When you and I look in the mirror and struggle to see evidence of a marvelous creation, it's simply because we're catching a glimpse of a work in progress. But in spite of our many flaws, we remain a creation of a masterful God who has nothing but affection for His work of art and anticipates its completion." (p. 29) See? Don't you want to read it now? I recommend you check this out!

Using personal stories, insightful biblical teaching and soul-searching reflection, Michele Cushatt helped me reframe my life through the lens of who God is and who I am because I am His. Through this powerful 60-day journey of I Am, I found hope and courage to let God re-write the narrative of the story I am living and the story I am telling myself every day. ~Renee Swope, author of A Confident Heart

We live in a world where the issue of "identity" is foremost in the minds of people and really, I believe, the foundational question at the center of most conflicts we have in life. Who am I? Where do I belong? What is my purpose? Michele Cushatt has written a book with 60 exaltations of who we are in Christ. Let me warn you...this is NOT another self-help book. There are plenty of those offering empty platitudes and psycho mumbo jumbo. Cushatt points readers to who they truly are because of the Great I AM. "Identity isn't grounded in who we are; it's grounded in who He is. We've bought the notion that our worth has something to do with us. That if we want to be smart and strong and beautiful and successful, we need to call ourselves our, speak into our own greatness. But the calling is God's, not ours." These 60 "I Am's" are rich, biblical callings on the lives of those found to be in Christ Jesus. I've not read a more helpful and deeply joyful book in, well maybe ever! Michele takes readers to the word of God and points out who He is and therein, we find who we are. This message is needed in our world and it is needed now. The book can be read straight through; however, it is written in 60 "sections" or days. These words are ones to be savored and prayed through. I have used it devotionally and found that approach to be the most helpful. The book would be great for personal use or would be great used with a discipleship partner as well. Grab a journal, your Bible and order I Am by Michele Cushatt. You won't be sorry, but will be most blessed. *I received a complimentary copy of the book. All opinions stated here are my own.

Each chapter of this book is filled with wisdom and truth. I am constantly asking myself "Am I enough?" - am I a good enough wife, mother, friend, neighbor, woman. Through this book Michelle reminds me that I am indeed enough because God chose me, He sent me here, He loves me, and He promised to be with me. Our perceived flaws are given to us for a reason, and so are our strengths. There are 60 wonderful reminders of who I am in this book - I have read this book cover to cover and now am going through it slowly, savoring each message. Michele Cushatt is a gifted writer and storyteller.

Love the honesty and vulnerability Michele puts into this book. I am , on every page is a beautiful reminder of what we need to remember and what gets in the way of knowing truly who we are.

What a precious gift this book is to anyone who has struggled with knowing who they truly are... for those who have always put too much stock in other people's opinions of who they are and whether they were "enough." Michele Cushatt writes masterfully from her very heart and soul, sharing her own struggles with identity and the powerful insights she gained through self-reflection, prayer, and God's grace. You will be changed for the better after turning the last page - each and every time (just starting my third reading of this book!)

I will cherish this book. In sixty days Michele Cushatt goes through sixty ways for us to see who we are through the light of whose we are. Her writing is very relational and reflects beautifully for us to see ourselves through God's eyes. She provides questions for each day to help us go deeper in our processing, and it has really guided my journaling. I will come back to this book again and again.

From one woman to another: You need this book. I Am is filled with glorious nuggets of truth from the Word of God that will change your inner dialogue surrounding your worth. I found myself in tears at times because I didn't realize how much my soul yearned to hear what was written on these pages. We all need to be reminded of who we are, how much we are valued, and why we are here. Michele takes her readers on a real and raw journey of discovery that leads straight to the Father's heart. Michele is a beautiful person and excellent author. If you don't know her story, I encourage you to pick up her first book, Undone: Making Peace with the Unexpected Life. This book deepened my faith in God, encouraged me as I walked through the stillbirth of my firstborn, and changed my outlook on life. A must read for anyone that feels lost, lonely, and confused by pain.

Michele captures the feeling we all have felt at some point or another in our lives where we are unsure of our identity or not feeling like we are good enough. This book will lead you to seek and find your identity in who He is, instead of the superficial circumstances we frequently turn to. A must read for any person at any age - you will enjoy the many authentic, transparent, and real stories she tells within these pages.

I Am, it's quite a title to live up to, but in this book of 60 days worth of small chapters that lead you through scripture, reflection, thoughts to ponder and wonderful quotes, Michelle Cushatt delivers. If you met Michelle through the pages of her book, Undone, you will surely love this book. I started reading it thinking I would read day by day. I started with day one, then about hours later, I realized I'd read a months worth. The thing I love about Michelle's writing style is this, she's real. She's not showing us a perfect life through a social media filter where everyone is perfect, no one loses their temper, where we all listen attentively to our children with no distractions. She lays it all out on the kitchen counter and invites you to realize that the perfect God who loves us, loves us in our imperfect lives and wants to be there to show us we aren't alone, we are worthy, loved, not abandoned, fought for, and so much more. I want to say that my favorite section was the Exodus, but that would be not a whole truth for as I continued to read, each section had words my heart needed to hear. Are you struggling with feeling left out? You are accepted! Feel like you are a wallflower? You are Seen! I challenge you to read this book and not feel if at least one section speaks directly to your heart and your situation.
