'I Served' is one of the best true stories of the LRP experiance in Vietnam I have read. The authors attention to detail from actual radio logs and after action reports, plus his ability to write the story in a captivating manor makes 'I Served' a must read for anyone interested in the struggle of the Vietnam war. I SERVED IS HARD TO PUT DOWN ONCE YOU START READING IT.

'I Served' started out slow to me but before I could put it down it really grabbed my attention. I found that the slow introduction pages were all necessary in getting the big picture of what was to come. Wow! I had no idea of how spell-binding the following pages would be. What a ride through so many of my same experiences, smells, sights, sounds, and the kind of life that a foot soldier had to deal with to survive. I gained an even greater respect for those 'ghost soldiers' that I never met but knew to rely on the much needed intelligence that they provided for our reactionary brigade. It's a good read for anyone who has ever wanted for more truth about the courage of the combat infantryman and especially the recon team members during the Vietnam War.

I-served is a well written account by Mr Don Hall on Fco 51st Lrp missions and the sacrifices endured by the men who served in the unit. Having been there,I know what Mr Hall talks about and can relate on a personal level.

Having been in Vietnam during the same time, Don has nailed the details of living in the jungle. The background to the story leading up to his service is critical to a well told story. You won't be able to put the book down!

If you've ever wanted to know what it was like running around in the woods of Vietnam in a small recon team, this is the book for you. I used to drop these guys off from my helicopter and pick them up again. Not until I read this book did I really know what it was they were doing out there between the time I dropped them off and picked them up. All I could remember was that usually when we picked them up somebody was shooting at them. Don and Annette have done a good job.
